Book Array Signal Processing

Download or read book Array Signal Processing written by S. Unnikrishna Pillai and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended as an introduction to array signal process ing, where the principal objectives are to make use of the available multiple sensor information in an efficient manner to detect and possi bly estimate the signals and their parameters present in the scene. The advantages of using an array in place of a single receiver have extended its applicability into many fields including radar, sonar, com munications, astronomy, seismology and ultrasonics. The primary emphasis here is to focus on the detection problem and the estimation problem from a signal processing viewpoint. Most of the contents are derived from readily available sources in the literature, although a cer tain amount of original material has been included. This book can be used both as a graduate textbook and as a reference book for engineers and researchers. The material presented here can be readily understood by readers having a back ground in basic probability theory and stochastic processes. A prelim inary course in detection and estimation theory, though not essential, may make the reading easy. In fact this book can be used in a one semester course following probability theory and stochastic processes.

Book Array Processing

Download or read book Array Processing written by Jacob Benesty and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-28 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The focus of this book is on array processing and beamforming with Kronecker products. It considers a large family of sensor arrays that allow the steering vector to be decomposed as a Kronecker product of two steering vectors of smaller virtual arrays. Instead of directly designing a global beamformer for the original array, once the steering vector has been decomposed, smaller virtual beamformers are designed and separately optimized for each virtual array. This means the matrices that need to be inverted are smaller, which increases the robustness of the beamformers, and reduces the size of the observations. The book explains how to perform beamforming with Kronecker product filters using an unconventional approach. It shows how the Kronecker product formulation can be used to derive fixed, adaptive, and differential beamformers with remarkable flexibility. Furthermore, it demonstrates how fixed and adaptive beamformers can be intelligently combined, optimally exploiting the advantages of both. The problem of spatiotemporal signal enhancement is also addressed, and readers will learn how to perform Kronecker product filtering in this context.

  • Author : Shoji Makino

Download or read book Speech Enhancement written by Shoji Makino and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-03-17 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a noisy world! In all applications (telecommunications, hands-free communications, recording, human-machine interfaces, etc) that require at least one microphone, the signal of interest is usually contaminated by noise and reverberation. As a result, the microphone signal has to be "cleaned" with digital signal processing tools before it is played out, transmitted, or stored. This book is about speech enhancement. Different well-known and state-of-the-art methods for noise reduction, with one or multiple microphones, are discussed. By speech enhancement, we mean not only noise reduction but also dereverberation and separation of independent signals. These topics are also covered in this book. However, the general emphasis is on noise reduction because of the large number of applications that can benefit from this technology. The goal of this book is to provide a strong reference for researchers, engineers, and graduate students who are interested in the problem of signal and speech enhancement. To do so, we invited well-known experts to contribute chapters covering the state of the art in this focused field.
