Book Digital Filters for Everyone Third Edition

Download or read book Digital Filters for Everyone Third Edition written by Rusty Allred and published by . This book was released on 2015-03-26 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Performing such functions as noise mitigation and signal conditioning, digital filters are everywhere: in your car, in your TV, in your music player, in your phone, everywhere. But an engineering degree or expensive software is not required to design and analyze them. In fact, whoever you are and whatever your background, this book will help you understand, design, analyze and use digital filters. This book was written to make digital filters more accessible to everyone. Practicing engineers will appreciate its straightforward approach and the simple formulas that readily lend themselves to real-time applications. Others will find that digital filter design and analysis is really not as difficult as they may have thought. For each IIR filter type (Butterworth, Linkwitz-Reilly, Bessel, Chebychev I & II, Variable Q, Allpass, Equalization, Notch and Shelf), the reader will find one equation for each coefficient. Plug in what you know - cutoff frequency, sample rate - and the equations will give you the coefficient values; no expensive software, transforms or complicated manipulations are needed. This approach does have its limitations. Although the book does explain how to create higher orders by combining lower orders, there are no equations for IIR filters larger than fourth order. Several FIR methods (Fourier Series and Frequency Sampling Methods) are included and they do apply to any order. Since elliptical (Cauer) IIR filters and the Remez and Parks-McClellan algorithms for equiripple FIR design require specialized software and do not lend themselves to simple formulas, they are not included. The third edition includes a new chapter on two-dimensional (2D) filters and a new section on software filter implementation. In addition, there are language and formatting changes aimed at making the book clearer and easier to use. As with the first and second editions, the book gives the simplest possible equations for the design of IIR and FIR filters and examples for their use. Nothing from the earlier editions has been omitted.

Book Theory and Design of Adaptive Filters

Download or read book Theory and Design of Adaptive Filters written by John R. Treichler and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1987 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive compilation of adaptive filtering concepts, algorithm forms, behavioral insights, and application guidelines useful for the engineer interested in designing appropriate adaptive filters for various applications and for students needing a cohesive pedagogy for initiation of basic research in adaptive theory. The analysis and design of three basic classes of adaptive filters are presented: adaptive finite-impulse-response (FIR) filters; adaptive infinite-impulse-response (IRR) filters; and adaptive property restoring filters. For the widely used FIR filters, the book offers the most popular analytical tools and distills a tutorial collection of insightful design guidelines of proven utility. For the more recently developed filters, it focuses on emerging theoretical foundations and suggested applications. The material is supplemented with listings of FORTRAN codes for basic algorithms and a real-time solution to one adaptive FIR filter problem using a Texas Instruments signal processing chip.

Book Partitioned convolution algorithms for real time auralization

Download or read book Partitioned convolution algorithms for real time auralization written by Frank Wefers and published by Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. This book was released on 2015-05-11 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work discusses methods for efficient audio processing with finite impulse response (FIR) filters. Such filters are widely used for high-quality acoustic signal processing, e.g. for headphone or loudspeaker equalization, in binaural synthesis, in spatial sound reproduction techniques and for the auralization of reverberant environments. This work focuses on real-time applications, where the audio processing is subject to minimal delays (latencies). Different fast convolution concepts (transform-based, interpolation-based and number-theoretic), which are used to implement FIR filters efficiently, are examined regarding their applicability in real-time. These fast, elementary techniques can be further improved by the concept of partitioned convolution. This work introduces a classification and a general framework for partitioned convolution algorithms and analyzes the algorithmic classes which are relevant for real-time filtering: Elementary concepts which do not partition the filter impulse response (e.g. regular Overlap-Add and Overlap-Save convolution) and advanced techniques, which partition filters uniformly and non-uniformly. The algorithms are thereby regarded in their analytic complexity, their performance on target hardware, the optimal choice of parameters, assemblies of multiple filters, multi-channel processing and the exchange of filter impulse responses without audible artifacts. Suitable convolution techniques are identified for different types of audio applications, ranging from resource-aware auralizations on mobile devices to extensive room acoustics audio rendering using dedicated multi-processor systems.

Book Processing Estimation and Measurement of Signals Parameters in Public Distribution Networks

Download or read book Processing Estimation and Measurement of Signals Parameters in Public Distribution Networks written by Predrag Petrović and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-09-28 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book addresses a relevant field of digital processing and measurement of signals in distribution networks. The importance of the covered topic is evidenced by extensive foreign and domestic professional literature, in the form of publications in leading international journals, and numerous professional and scientific books. For the past two decades, the author has published a number of papers both in international journals and at leading world conferences, further verifying the results he has achieved in this field. It should be noted that he is also the holder of several national patents, which were created precisely as a result of working on the problems of processing complex signals of voltage and current. Readers of this book will be the students of master and doctoral studies both in the country and abroad and experts in the field of signal processing. It is a valuable source for future authors of professional and scientific papers, as a basis on which to start when developing completely new techniques for processing complex signals not only in the power system, but also in other fields of engineering and everyday life.
