Download or read book Geological Survey of Canada Current Research Online no 2005 A3 written by I. Rod Smith and published by Natural Resources Canada. This book was released on 2005 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study was conducted in response to concerns raised by local residents about water quality in Fisherman Lake, located 18 kilometres north-west of Fort Liard, Northwest Territories. Field investigation of the lake revealed the existence of 13 gas seeps (largely methane) with distinct bubble trains rising continuously to the surface. This paper presents results of analyses of the gas & of the lake water and the determination, through isotope analyses, of whether the gas is of biogenic origin (related to the decomposition of organic matter) or thermogenic origin (representing a seep from geological strata of the gas field below the lake). The possible effects of methane on the lake water are also discussed and recommendations are made for further research.
Download or read book Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry written by Sankara Papavinasam and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 1021 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of corrosion in the oil industry leads to the failure of parts. This failure results in shutting down the plant to clean the facility. The annual cost of corrosion to the oil and gas industry in the United States alone is estimated at $27 billion (According to NACE International)—leading some to estimate the global annual cost to the oil and gas industry as exceeding $60 billion. In addition, corrosion commonly causes serious environmental problems, such as spills and releases. An essential resource for all those who are involved in the corrosion management of oil and gas infrastructure, Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry provides engineers and designers with the tools and methods to design and implement comprehensive corrosion-management programs for oil and gas infrastructures. The book addresses all segments of the industry, including production, transmission, storage, refining and distribution. - Selects cost-effective methods to control corrosion - Quantitatively measures and estimates corrosion rates - Treats oil and gas infrastructures as systems in order to avoid the impacts that changes to one segment if a corrosion management program may have on others - Provides a gateway to more than 1,000 industry best practices and international standards

Download or read book New Frontiers in Oil and Gas Exploration written by Congrui Jin and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-10-07 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This contributed volume presents a multi-perspective collection of the latest research findings on oil and gas exploration and imparts insight that can greatly assist in understanding field behavior, design of test programs, and design of field operations. With this book, engineers also gain a powerful guide to the most commonly used numerical simulation methods that aid in reservoir modelling. In addition, the contributors explore development of technologies that allow for cost effective oil and gas exploration while minimizing the impact on our water resources, surface and groundwater aquifers, geological stability of impacted areas, air quality, and infrastructure assets such as roads, pipelines, water, and wastewater networks. Easy to understand, the book identifies equipment and procedural problems inherent to oil and gas operations and provides systematic approaches for solving them.

Download or read book Sustainable Entrepreneurship written by Mariella Pinna and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-21 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the current body of knowledge on sustainable entrepreneurship. Using network and content analysis, the author maps the structure of the research field and provides a systematic review. In this regard, network analysis is used to find evidence of thematically related clusters of publications and polarizing differences across the subfields of inquiry. In contrast, content analysis is employed to identify and address emerging gaps in the literature. In particular, after discussing mainstream contributions, the author focuses on pioneering research and predicts possible paths that might challenge researchers in the future. The author contributes to the ongoing debate on the definition and boundaries of the flourishing field of sustainable entrepreneurship, by offering critical insights and possible future development pathways derived from both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
