Book Find Your Why

Download or read book Find Your Why written by Simon Sinek and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Start With Why has led millions of readers to rethink everything they do – in their personal lives, their careers and their organizations. Now Find Your Why picks up where Start With Why left off. It shows you how to apply Simon Sinek’s powerful insights so that you can find more inspiration at work -- and in turn inspire those around you. I believe fulfillment is a right and not a privilege. We are all entitled to wake up in the morning inspired to go to work, feel safe when we’re there and return home fulfilled at the end of the day. Achieving that fulfillment starts with understanding exactly WHY we do what we do. As Start With Why has spread around the world, countless readers have asked me the same question: How can I apply Start With Why to my career, team, company or nonprofit? Along with two of my colleagues, Peter Docker and David Mead, I created this hands-on, step-by-step guide to help you find your WHY. With detailed exercises, illustrations, and action steps for every stage of the process, Find Your Why can help you address many important concerns, including: * What if my WHY sounds just like my competitor’s? * Can I have more than one WHY? * If my work doesn’t match my WHY, what should I do? * What if my team can’t agree on our WHY? Whether you've just started your first job, are leading a team, or are CEO of your own company, the exercises in this book will help guide you on a path to long-term success and fulfillment, for both you and your colleagues. Thank you for joining us as we work together to build a world in which more people start with WHY. Inspire on! -- Simon

  • Author : Kathryn T. Long
  • Publisher : Oxford University Press

Download or read book God in the Rainforest written by Kathryn T. Long and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2019-01-22 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In January of 1956, five young evangelical missionaries were speared to death by a band of the Waorani people in the Ecuadorian Amazon. Two years later, two missionary women--the widow of one of the slain men and the sister of another--with the help of a Wao woman were able to establish peaceful relations with the same people who had killed their loved ones. The highly publicized deaths of the five men and the subsequent efforts to Christianize the Waorani quickly became the defining missionary narrative for American evangelicals during the second half of the twentieth century. God in the Rainforest traces the formation of this story and shows how Protestant missionary work among the Waorani came to be one of the missions most celebrated by Evangelicals and most severely criticized by anthropologists and others who accused missionaries of destroying the indigenous culture. Kathryn T. Long offers a study of the complexities of world Christianity at the ground level for indigenous peoples and for missionaries, anthropologists, environmentalists, and other outsiders. For the first time, Long brings together these competing actors and agendas to reveal one example of an indigenous people caught in the cross-hairs of globalization.

Book The Attention Merchants

Download or read book The Attention Merchants written by Tim Wu and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2017-09-19 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author of the award-winning The Master Switch, who coined the term "net neutrality”—a revelatory, ambitious and urgent account of how the capture and re-sale of human attention became the defining industry of our time. "Dazzling." —Financial Times Ours is often called an information economy, but at a moment when access to information is virtually unlimited, our attention has become the ultimate commodity. In nearly every moment of our waking lives, we face a barrage of efforts to harvest our attention. This condition is not simply the byproduct of recent technological innovations but the result of more than a century's growth and expansion in the industries that feed on human attention. Wu’s narrative begins in the nineteenth century, when Benjamin Day discovered he could get rich selling newspapers for a penny. Since then, every new medium—from radio to television to Internet companies such as Google and Facebook—has attained commercial viability and immense riches by turning itself into an advertising platform. Since the early days, the basic business model of “attention merchants” has never changed: free diversion in exchange for a moment of your time, sold in turn to the highest-bidding advertiser. Full of lively, unexpected storytelling and piercing insight, The Attention Merchants lays bare the true nature of a ubiquitous reality we can no longer afford to accept at face value.

Book How to Fulfil Divine Purpose

Download or read book How to Fulfil Divine Purpose written by MKO Oyeneye and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-06-24 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study by an American University once revealed that 97 percent of the world’s population have no goal and work for the 3 percent who have. This is a great tragedy; that 97 percent of people in all walks of life wake up each day, drudge through life, and go back to sleep for a lifetime without knowing why they came to earth. The sad thing is that among these daydreamers are great men and women originally destined by their Maker to be movers and shakers of our planet. The only reason they are wandering in the desert of life is because they have not found their true north. We all know that man is created in the image and likeness of God, which means that what is possible with God is possible with man. When put to the test, human beings have been known to perform mighty feats. Scientists call it hysterical strength, and there have been many reported stories of this happening, where an individual exercises superhuman strength in a time of great need. A famous case of this happened in 1960. Angela Carvallo’s son was trapped under a car, and upon waiting for help, she took the rescue into her own hands and lifted the car off him, allowing him to crawl out of harm’s way. In this insightful book, Pastor MKO argues that you do not have to settle for mediocrity and anonymity. You are capable of achieving the highest possible dream for which your Maker created you. All you need to do is find your true place on earth, and you will rock the universe! How to Fulfil Your Divine Purpose is a life-changing book that must be read by anyone who is going somewhere.

Book Creating Lean Dealers

Download or read book Creating Lean Dealers written by David Brunt and published by Lean Enterprise Academy Ltd. This book was released on 2006-12-01 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is in Creating Lean Dealers? Creating Lean Dealers is a DIY guide to enable dealers to achieve such a step-change for themselves. It works through, using examples, diagrams and detailed instructions, how to transform performance in service and repair. Then it goes on to describe how the same logic can be applied to all other areas of the dealer business to give a win-win-win for customers, dealer staff and shareholders. The journey to becoming a Lean dealer begins by getting a real understanding of two things: The ability of the processes in the dealership to deliver right first time on time at every step - a measure that authors David Brunt and John Kiff call ‘Customer Fulfilment’ because it is the core of what customers value. The actual demand on those processes and separating it into different types. The next step is to use these measures, together with a map of the ‘current state’ of the process, to define and prioritise what the problems are and then address them, with the teams who do the work, in a structured way using the Plan-Do-Check-Act method of improvement. A series of questions then guides the dealer to develop a ‘future state’ map of the process - a picture of what the process will look like, typically in 6 months time, when the problems have been addressed and some of the wastes eliminated so that more of the time is spent creating the value that customers want - what Lean thinkers call ‘Flow’. An accompanying action plan lists the ‘bite-sized steps’ needed to achieve the transformation. But like every transformational change, management plays a critical role. Without a fully committed CEO leading from the top improvements are almost certainly doomed to fail. It soon becomes apparent that management has to question and sometimes ‘unlearn’ many of its traditional management methods. Core to this is shifting the mind-set from managing results to managing processes using visual progress boards (rather than computers) on a daily or even an hourly basis - because good results are a direct product of good processes.
