Download or read book The Compassionate Teacher Why compassion should be at the heart of our schools written by Andy Sammons and published by John Catt. This book was released on 2019-03-11 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ask any teacher why they went into teaching, and they'll invariably refer to students or their subject. Yet, modern educators are faced with a dilemma: the industry judges us primarily on outcomes, offering the justification that grades improve life chances. Grades improve life chances as much as money buys happiness: it's no more than a prop or a poor substitute. Unless the profession starts to get to the heart of its reason for being, we might as well all pack up and go home. Education has a problem with its `why,' and unless it starts to encourage and insist its stakeholders start to improve their understanding of why compassion and relationships should be at the heart of everything we do, the same familiar cyclical mistakes will continue to be made, and all of those lovely things that we say we do in modern education such as improving life chances, creating citizens of the future and shaping young minds will be no more than an accidental and indirect by-product of time spent in our educational establishments.

Download or read book Into the Heart of Our World written by David Whitehouse and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The journey to the center of the earth is a voyage like no other we can imagine. Our planet appears tranquil from outer space. And yet the arcs of volcanoes, the earthquake zones, and the auroral glow rippling above our heads are testimony to the remarkable happenings within the earth’s core. For thousands of years these phenomena were explained in legend and myth. Only in recent times has the brave new science of seismology emerged. One hundred and fifty years after the extraordinary, imaginative feat of Jules Verne's Journey to the Center of the Earth, David Whitehouse embarks on a voyage of scientific discovery into the heart of our world.Seismologists today reveal a planet astonishingly buried within a planet. We watch as supercomputers convert signals from the ground into three-dimensional scans of subterranean continents. We will visit laboratories where scientists attempt to reproduce the intense conditions at the center of the Earth, travel down the throat of a volcano, look into the deepest hole ever drilled, and imagine a voyage through enormous crystals of iron...all at the center of our incredible Earth.

This book was released on 2022-08-01 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a scriptural- and experienced-based book about how to put much more love, peace, and joy back into your daily family life, yes, even while raising your children. With all the chaos in everyday life of parents and children, we need answers! It is very possible to have more enjoyment more often if you follow God's plan for raising your children. It is simple and not at all difficult. It's straightforward. This is not a book that puts things lightly, and it is not politically correct. This book is strictly God's plan for raising strong, successful, and godly children. Most importantly, it teaches you and your child to see the enemy coming a mile away. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy, and your family and children are his number one concern! There is information in this book about how parents should interact with their children and school staff to have the most success and pleasant academic experience. Some of the topics discussed in the book are about what God says about being a parent, the devil's attacks on the family, discipline at home and how it carries to the schools, and how to be a good example for your children as well as the community without being arrogant or overbearing. God is love and always will be. God should never be portrayed as haughty. Do not follow how to raise your children, by watching your friends, even some of your church friends, or the people who claim to be Christians, if they are not following biblical standards. It is so simple. It is the devil causing confusion and chaos, not God. He is peace, love, and joy. This book will tell you how to have all of this in your family if you really want that for your children.

Download or read book A Stranger in the House of God written by John Koessler and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2009-08-30 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up the son of agnostics, John Koessler saw a Catholic church on one end of the street and a Baptist on the other. In the no-man’s land between the two, this curious outside wondered about the God they worshipped—and began a lifelong search to comprehend the grace and mystery of God. A Stranger in the House of God addresses fundamental questions and struggles faced by spiritual seekers and mature believers. Like a contemporary Pilgrim’s Progress, it traces the author’s journey and explores his experiences with both charismatic and evangelical Christianity. It also describes his transformation from religious outsider to ordained pastor. John Koessler provides a poignant and often humorous window into the interior of the soul as he describes his journey from doubt and struggle with the church to personal faith
