Book excerpt: Losing his mother at age ten changed the authors life forever. Entering a Christian high school gave him a solid foundation in the Word of God. The next fifty years in the Lords service at Biola College (now University) as a student, in Japan as a missionary, and as a pastor of several churches in the Inland Northwest. Tragedies, his own near death, the death of their son, and difficult pastorates made him well aware that Gods grace is unconditional and eternal. Book Called to the Uttermost

Download or read book Called to the Uttermost written by Chara Vovou and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the author presents her own life story and the challenges of faith in God and commitment to her calling; presents her own path of destiny, which prompts the reader to examine his/her life purpose; demonstrates compelling reasons to support those in the mission field to fulfill the Great Commission; demonstrates how just one can significantly impact many; and demonstrates how to perform brainstorming, affinity diagramming, and life mapping exercises so the reader can more readily identify their future. Most people search for their purpose in life and want to know they are part of something greater. Sadly, some live out their lives never having known their true purpose. Reasons for this can include fear of success, reluctance to exert the effort and work required, or not knowing how to fulfill their dream. The purpose of this book is twofold. This book offers one missionarys journey to destiny and demonstrates how mapping the stages of ones life from early years can help identify the future more clearly. It features various tools to finding ones gift and calling. The American church is in transition from a traditional model to a missionary model. Many, having never served in the mission field, lack a well-defined understanding of the work of the missionary. The author bridges that gap for pastors, scholars, theologians, and laity. This book speaks in storytelling, ministering, and teaching voices. It inspires, provokes, and challenges its reader to greater heights of faith in God and commitment to their calling. It affords the reader a greater understanding of missionary work. It inspires one to render support to those in the field, especially for those who cannot go to the uttermost parts of the world. This books message is theologically sound and culturally informed. This book allows the readers to more clearly recognize their divine path forward as they trace their footsteps. This literary work offers encouragement, empowerment, and guidance for pastors, scholars, theologians and laity of the Christian faith in fulfilling the obligation to go into all the world and teach the Gospel, especially to the unreached areas. It affords the reader the opportunity to examine their particular calling in faith and to move forward into the path that God has destined them.

While in Bible College he realized that aviation could be a valuable tool for fulfilling his calling as a missionary preacher. This book was written with thanksgiving to the Lord in heaven for making it possible to see his dream become reality. The book shares many of the aviation experiences of Dr. Green and some of those of his associates. His sincere desire is that Christians will be challenged to "delight themselves in the Lord" and allow Him to make their desires a reality too, for the good of others and the glory of God the Father.

Book God s Faithful Firebrand Ralph G Finch

Download or read book God s Faithful Firebrand Ralph G Finch written by Daniel E. Finch and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-05-20 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you want the thrill of reading about a real life pioneer who went beyond the bounds of safety and took unbelievable risks because he believed God had called him to carry the Gospel around the world, you will want to read this book. No Olympian runner ever carried a firebrand higher or ran with greater purpose and passion than did the farm boy from southern Ohio. Without hesitation, for a lifetime Ralph G. Finch crisscrossed America and the world holding high the torch of right and holy living. He thrilled with the excitement of the race and always saw victory ahead. He kept his face set like a flint of steel and never veered to the right or left. His fervent, pioneer spirit drove him to always explore new opportunities for ministry. His willingness to go to the hard places never ceased. He had the ability to make any place he went to, glow with expectancy and hope. To him, missions was not just an enthusiasm, however interesting and glamorous, that passed with time, but a fervor springing from a heart aflame with a burden to help hurting humanity the world around, which lasted throughout his whole life.

Download or read book God s Mercenary written by Amanda Van Lanen, PhD and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2020-11-27 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1990, Philip Van Lanen decided to take his family on an adventure of a lifetime when he accepted a Dental Lab Technician position in Rwanda, Africa. After deciding to move to Rwanda, they sold their home and spent the next several months living out of suitcases as they completed cross-cultural and language training. While training for mission service, he joked, "Someday I'm going to write a book titled 'God's Missionary' with the word 'Missionary' crossed out, and the name 'Mercenary' scribbled over the top of it." Why mercenary? Because a mercenary is a soldier, who gets paid to go and fight, and in many ways, that is what he would do. Like a soldier, he would face many battles, literal and figurative, along the way. In mission training, dealing with human resources, and learning French were battles, but he would face others. He soon learned that the expectations of mission service differed from the realities of missionary life. Missionary service had many joys and sorrows. With humor, the book recounts the challenges the family faced adapting to life in Rwanda and our experiences with new friends and colleagues. In 1994, after living in Rwanda for three years, genocide erupted. They were witnesses to the events that took the lives of more than 800,000 people. His family left the country in the next-to-last convoy out of the country, four days after the genocide started. After leaving the country, his battles continued. They were reassigned to a dental clinic in Saipan. He continued to struggle to make sense of the events in Rwanda, and he was eventually diagnosed with PTSD. Follow him and his family as they journey from Indiana to a dental clinic in Rwanda and then to Saipan. Come along as he and his family make it out of Rwanda and the trials that follow as he has to battle PTSD.
