Book Robust Control of Infinite Dimensional Systems

Download or read book Robust Control of Infinite Dimensional Systems written by Ciprian Foias and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its inception in the early 1980s, H( optimization theory has become the control methodology of choice in robust feedback analysis and design. The purpose of this monograph is to present, in a tutorial fashion, a self contained operator theoretic approach to the H( control for disturbed parameter systems, that is, systems which admit infinite dimensional state spaces. Such systems arise for problems modelled by partial differential equations or which have time delays. Besides elucidating the mathematics of H( control, extensive treatment is given to its physical and engineering underpinnings. The techniques given in the book are carefully illustrated by two benchmark problems: an unstable system with a time delay which comes from the control of the X-29, and the control of a Euler-Bernoulli flexible beam with Kelvin-Voigt damping.

Book Control and Estimation in Distributed Parameter Systems

Download or read book Control and Estimation in Distributed Parameter Systems written by H. T. Banks and published by SIAM. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research in control and estimation of distributed parameter systems encompasses a wide range of applications including both fundamental science and emerging technologies. The latter include smart materials (piezoceramics, shape memory alloys, magnetostrictives, electrorheological fluids) fabrication and testing, design of high-pressure chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactors for production of microelectronic surfaces (e.g., semiconductors), while the former include groundwater contamination cleanup and other environmental modeling questions, climatology, flow control, and fluid-structure interactions as well as more traditional topics in biology, mechanics, and acoustics. These expository papers provide substantial stimulus to both young researchers and experienced investigators in control theory. Includes a comprehensive and lucid presentation that relates frequency domain techniques to state-space or time domain approaches for infinite-dimensional systems including design of robust stabilizing and finite-dimensional controllers for infinite-dimensional systems. It focuses on these two approaches to control design in an integrated system theoretic framework. This is excellent reading for researchers in both the frequency domain and time domain control communities. In other articles, topics considered include pointwise control of distributed parameter systems, bounded and unbounded sensors and actuators, stabilization issues for large flexible structures, and an overview discussion of damping models for flexible structures.

Book Frequency Domain Design of Robust Controllers for Space Structures

Download or read book Frequency Domain Design of Robust Controllers for Space Structures written by William Howard Bennett and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the Phase 1 effort was to investigate and demonstrate the feasibility of a new class of computational algorithms for the design of high performance control laws for flexible space structures based on frequency response modeling and to consider advanced techniques for the implementation of real time control for precision (wide bandwidth) applications. Typical applications requiring advanced realtime control of flexible space structure include vibration suppression and isolation of payload subsystems. Performance of vibration suppression and isolation systems are critical factors effecting achievable levels of performance for space based optical systems. In the Phase 1 effort, a prototype software code was developed for testing computational algorithms for spectral factorization, causal projection, and coprime factorization-critical steps in frequency domain design of precision control laws. Keywords: Computer programs; Mathematical models; Algorithms.

Book Investigation of a Frequency Domain Identification Technique for Distributed Parameter System

Download or read book Investigation of a Frequency Domain Identification Technique for Distributed Parameter System written by and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 47 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Often in process simulation studies and process control it is desirable to have an approximate transfer function that could be used for dynamic simulation via analog computer or for feedforward control algorithms. The scope of the work is concerned with developing a general analytical technique that can be easily implemented in obtaining approximate transfer functions for distributive parameter systems of the convective type, where the spacial dependence of the dependent variable is of little interest from a control viewpoint. This technique relies on a distributed parameter model that is transformed into ordinary differential equations in the frequency domain. These equations are then analyzed in the frequency domain using well known classical techniques. The frequency solution of the ordinary differential equation provides the necessary data to carry out regressions on the parameters of the postulated transfer function.

Book Delay Effects on Stability

Download or read book Delay Effects on Stability written by Silviu-Iulian Niculescu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to the effect of delays on the stability properties of dynamical systems. Stability regions with respect to the delay parameters are considered, and some sufficient characterizations are proposed. This monograph addresses general delay problems and offers solutions in some cases. In other cases, approximations of the stability regions can be proposed. The interpretation of delays as uncertainty allows the authors to use the advances in robust control and robust convex optimization to solve or to approximate the solutions of the corresponding problems.
