Book excerpt: Depuis l'étude de Munro et Derwing (1995), qui a mis en lumière les relations qu'entretiennent la compréhensibilité, l'intelligibilité et l'accent perçu entre eux, plusieurs chercheuses et chercheurs se sont intéressé(e)s à découvrir les éléments linguistiques les plus contributoires à une meilleure compréhensibilité dans une langue additionnelle (Lx) afin que l'on accorde plus de temps en classe à ces éléments qu'à ceux n'ayant que peu d'impact. Cependant, peu de recherches se sont réalisées en d'autres langues que l'anglais. La présente recherche s'inspire en partie des travaux de Munro et Derwing (2006) et de Suzukida et Saito (2019), mais aussi de ceux de Brown (1988), afin d'identifier les écarts de prononciation en français Lx qui nuisent le plus à la compréhensibilité et d'établir quelques priorités pour l'enseignement de la prononciation. Le deuxième objectif principal est d'explorer les effets de la fréquence syllabique des syllabes du français sur la production d'erreurs chez des apprenant(e)s du français et aussi sa possible relation avec la compréhensibilité. Pour y arriver, les données de deux corpus ont été utilisées : le corpus d'extraits de parole d'apprenant(e)s du français de Beaulieu et al. (2021) et la banque de données d'unités sublexicales du français québécois SyllabO+ de Bédard et al. (2017). Nos données montrent l'importance de travailler les voyelles antérieures arrondies et les nasales auprès d'apprenant(e)s du français et que la confusion de certaines oppositions phonologiques neutralisables dans d'autres variétés de français n'a pas d'impact sur la compréhensibilité. Nous apportons quelques commentaires critiques sur la façon d'étudier la relation entre le rendement fonctionnel d'une opposition phonologique et l'impact de sa confusion sur la compréhensibilité. Enfin, nos résultats suggèrent que les syllabes dont la fréquence est faible sont plus l'objet d'écarts de prononciation.
