  • Pages : 177 pages

Download or read book Trust Rules written by Linda K. Stroh and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2015-09-09 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trust is at the root of all positive relationships. This accessible and empowering book teaches how to form an inner circle of trusted confidants in your workplace and at home that will allow you to live a more peaceful and more effective life, reduce stress, and better deal with negative emotions. Building trust is crucial for effective leadership, and trusting others is a necessary part of working with others. But knowing whom to trust—and whom not to trust—eludes many people. A surprising number of people report that being betrayed by someone in their "inner circle" either at work or in their personal lives is one of the most devastating things they have endured. Lack of trust is also expensive in that it costs companies money to surveil employees; and in our personal lives, if we live with people we cannot trust, we expend needless amounts of energy protecting ourselves from these untrustworthy people. How do we increase trust, bounce back from betrayal, and form alliances and positive relationships with those who ARE trustworthy? This book provides a unique examination of trust and its often-overlooked importance to our work and personal lives. It identifies the characteristics of a trusting relationship, considers the decision-making process that people should make before granting individuals admission to their own "inner circle," and teaches how to tell the "good guys" from the "bad guys" in our work environments and life in general. This revised and updated edition contains new information on the negative mental and physical aspects of telling lies; how to better manage our emotions, which allows us to become "better guys" ourselves; strategies for building more trusting relationships in our families; and how trust works—and doesn't work—online in the Internet age. It also includes a useful "Family Board Meeting" tool for having family meetings in a way that encourages honest and open dialogue between family members regardless of age or family structure.

  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 269 pages

Download or read book US Fractured written by Dr. Shila Patel, M.D. and published by BookLocker.com, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-12-10 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AMERICA, WAKE UP! We may be on the verge of a civil war or World War III. Take off your blinders and examine how we are losing our freedoms and democracy. US Fractured is an in-depth study of the sociological events, political uprisings, Supreme Court rulings, economic failures, and conflicts that are continuing to affect the lives of all Americans, both young and old. What corrective action can citizens take? Today, in 2022, we face terrorist attacks on our democracy from American citizens in our country. In the aftermath of the January 6th insurrection on our Capitol, former President Trump, conservative far-right extremists groups like the Proud Boys, the Oathkeepers, white nationalists, and Trump-pandering politicians continue to spread lies, conspiracy theories, and divisive messages of a stolen presidential election, destroying the basic tenets of our democracy. After all of his outrageous abuses of power, he continues to be free to hold rallies around the country, threatening our national institutions and their laws. Since his election defeat, Trump encouraged his supporters to attack other elected officials around the country who do not support him in his quest to maintain power over the American electorate. One seriously questions whether the U.S. Department of Justice will bring Trump to justice for tearing down the fabric of democracy in the United States. Putin's war in Ukraine has had a devastating effect on world economy, and causing major inflation not only in the United States but also in many countries around the world. Instead of recovering from the Covid 19 pandemic, we are now having to suffer war time effects. We need to learn from history. I wrote my first book, US Unhinged, to jolt us out of complacency and lead to personal transformation. This book US Fractured is even more critical. Our way of life in America and our democracy is in jeopardy. On January 6th, no one could believe the events that were transpiring in Washington, nor could the countries worldwide believe that anarchy existed in America. Yet, one man, Trump, wielded power due to his failed election attempt to stir up anger and resentment by his supporters to stop the electoral process and certify the presidential election results. Instead of Republican and Democratic politicians working together to solve national issues, they continue to waste time threatening one another. The economic and sociological problems in this country are enormous. Our roads and bridges require extensive repairs. The effects of climate change are destroying thousands of acres by fire and flooding our cities, towns, farmlands, and coastlines throughout America. Covid-19 safety measures and continued research are necessary for the safety of all citizens. Gun regulations and mental health issues of young people require our immediate attention. State governments must restore women's abortion rights. Sensible immigration laws need to be established and lack of labor force must be addressed. Deadlock and procrastination by politicians only prolong the devastating effects on our society. All Americans should practice due diligence to uncover the facts by researching multiple sources of information and listening to diverse opinions. This book has numerous reference sources in the endnotes, which readers can access to clarify the information. I firmly believe that most Americans care deeply about the welfare of this country but are frustrated with the dysfunction in Washington, loss of freedom, and politicians pandering to their party supporters. If we are to survive as a freedom-loving nation, leading the world in democracy, tolerance, and climate change issues to preserve the planet for future generations, we will all have to do our part. Expecting someone else to hold the gauntlet is absolving your responsibility.

Download or read book Othered written by Jenai Auman and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2024-06-25 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God's people are meant to be a blessing to others. Yet in the Scriptures, throughout history, and in our own times we too often see the people of God causing harm to people on the margins. Rather than caring for the widowed and the orphaned or loving the sojourner, too often we see abuse of power that breaks spirits and inflicts lasting harm. For anyone who has felt left out or pushed out of the church, Othered is your invitation to find spiritual rest and belonging in a God who loves, restores, and blesses the outcast and the marginalized. Jenai Auman draws on her experience growing up as a biracial kid in the American South as well as working within toxic ministry environments to reveal a hopeful, trauma-informed way forward. This book illuminates how hurt and betrayal in the church are longstanding problems that God neither sanctions nor tolerates. It offers holistic responses to the grief, anger, and trauma that come with being ostracized or oppressed by the church. And it shows how God provides shelter and provision in the midst of the wilderness. Because God sees, hears, and loves you--even if the church has failed you.

Book The Secret Sauce of Servant Leadership

Download or read book The Secret Sauce of Servant Leadership written by Dr. Peter K. Scheuermann and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-02-10 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Secret Sauce of Servant Leadership was borne out of the desire to help others quickly ignite and launch servant leadership characteristics and attributes into a leader's style and approach to influencing and leading people, not employees. This book applies to all industries and cultures across the globe. The book is structured by first defining a leadership concept, then learning about examples of modern-day leaders' and organizations who display and live out servant leadership characteristics in their approach, and then how this can be applied in other organizations. The author takes time in covering such topics as what is servant leadership, defining one's purpose, living out one's values, building a high-performance culture, creating trust, and sustaining long-lasting relationships, developing and sustaining a servant leader's character, and finally the most important of all, love, the love of people. The last two chapters provide a 360-servant leadership assessment example and how servant leadership can be integrated and applied in workplace leadership programs. The hope of the author is that the reader will quickly gain an understanding of servant leadership characteristics, achieve insights into the examples of both individual and organizations provided, and then immediately start incorporating these principles within their leadership approach, in turn, helping others to become servant leaders.
