Book Draw Poker Odds

Download or read book Draw Poker Odds written by Catalin Barboianu and published by INFAROM Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like any variation of poker, draw poker (or classical poker) is also predisposed to probability-based decisions. The author presents the mathematics involved in this card game, with respect to the usage of the numerical results in players' strategies. The whole presentation is focused on the practical aspect of the application of probability theory in draw poker and all the sections are such structured to allow the direct usage of the numerical results. This is why every section is packed with tables, some of them filling dozens of pages. This is not a math book, even if the supporting mathematics is present thorough, but a guide addressed to poker players, who can skip the math parts at any time and pick the needed results from tables. For those interested, the complete methodology, the way probability theory is applied and a part of the calculations are shown, so it teaches the player how to calculate odds for any situation for every stage of the game, even the numerical results are already listed in the book. Want to evaluate the probability of one opponent bluffing? Want to know the probability of at least one opponent holding a card formation higher than yours, at any moment of the game? Want to know the probability of hitting the desired formation if discarding in a certain way? All this information is in the book and is fully mathematically grounded. All probability results from this guide are obtained through compact mathematical formulas and not partial simulations on computer. These formulas are the outcome of one year of study, math work and tests. The author found the right probability model in which to apply the theory and conveniently quantify the card distributions inorder to work out the draw poker probability formulas. They were built with an enough large range of variables to cover all possible situations and were never worked out before. Their numerical returns were gathered in three main categories of odds presented in the book: - Initial probabilities of the first card distribution for your own hand; - Prediction probabilities after first card distribution and before the second for your own hand; - Prediction probabilities for opponents' hands. Every section ends with suggestive examples and there is also a special chapter with a lot of relevant gaming situations presented along with the odds of their associated events. Among author's previously published books on mathematics of gambling, Draw Poker Odds seems to be the most practical one and that is because the author presents the results of applied probability in a gambling-behavioral manner that can influence the balance between the subjective strategies and the real odds in player's favor.

Book About Online Poker

Download or read book About Online Poker written by Nicolae Sfetcu and published by Nicolae Sfetcu. This book was released on 2014-05-03 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to be an introduction to the poker game, emphasizing on the online poker, the betting structure, poker variants, poker strategy and specific poker tournaments. Online poker is the game of poker played over the Internet. Online poker rooms tend to be viewed as more player-friendly and allow the players to play for very low stakes. It has been partly responsible for a dramatic increase in the number of poker players worldwide. While the practice of comping players with free meals, hotel rooms, and merchandise is quite common in B&M casinos, online poker rooms have needed to develop new ways to reward faithful customers. The most common way of doing this is through deposit bonuses, where the player is given a bonus code to enter when placing money into an account. One common feature of the online poker sites is to offer tournaments called satellites by which the winners gain entry to real-life poker tournaments. Online poker rooms reward customers through deposit bonuses, where the player is given a bonus code to enter when placing money into an account.

Book Physics Foibles

    Book Details:
  • Author : Melvin Goldstein
  • Publisher : Trafford Publishing
  • Release : 2003-03-06
  • ISBN : 1412253551
  • Pages : 874 pages

Download or read book Physics Foibles written by Melvin Goldstein and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2003-03-06 with total page 874 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The science of Physics is based on observations that lead to the formulation of mathematical relationships between measured quantities. Some would consider Physics an exact science. Its discoveries and laws are basic to understanding in all areas of science and technology. Four Physics foibles 1) Kurt Godel proved that there are unknowables in our mathematics. 2) Werner Heisenberg showed that there are uncertainties in our measurements. 3) Entropy says that we can only predict the probabilities of events. 4)Chaos Theory deals with things that are effectively impossible to predict like turbulence and long term weather forecasting. The word foible as defined by Webster: An odd feature or mild failing in a person's character a weakness. In fencing, the weaker part of a sword blade. It is the acceptance of these foibles in Physics that has led to broader understanding. In the process of examining these 'weaknesses' in science, many creative and practical solutions have been discovered. There are a number of original computer programs throughout the book. No other person, living or dead - other than the author - has edited or examined the programs. No effort has been made to optimize any of these programs. The author has relied on the computer's results to serve as his default editor. Computer programs are included that take you through puzzles and paradoxes, distribute molecules, follow ameba populations, prove and disprove Murphy's Law, flip coins, and play lottery and casino games. Many have asked about the book. Some with a technical background - and some not - have questioned: What do dice, poker, lotto, and heads-or-tails have to do with Physics? The mathematical study of games of chance is as old as mathematics itself. The connection between games of chance and Nature's laws can be rigorously refined in the field of Statistical Mathematics. If you can analyze multiple coin flips, you can view molecular distribution. If you can understand the results of a game of Roulette, you can understand Radioactive decay. Also included are polls, number systems, wave packets, the search for Pi and the elusive Random, Internet quotes, and more. And in the the process of reading, stop and listen to the words of the science gurus displayed in cartoons throughout.

Book A Discrete Transition to Advanced Mathematics

Download or read book A Discrete Transition to Advanced Mathematics written by Bettina Richmond and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2009 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the title indicates, this book is intended for courses aimed at bridging the gap between lower-level mathematics and advanced mathematics. The text provides a careful introduction to techniques for writing proofs and a logical development of topics based on intuitive understanding of concepts. The authors utilize a clear writing style and a wealth of examples to develop an understanding of discrete mathematics and critical thinking skills. While including many traditional topics, the text offers innovative material throughout. Surprising results are used to motivate the reader. The last three chapters address topics such as continued fractions, infinite arithmetic, and the interplay among Fibonacci numbers, Pascal's triangle, and the golden ratio, and may be used for independent reading assignments. The treatment of sequences may be used to introduce epsilon-delta proofs. The selection of topics provides flexibility for the instructor in a course designed to spark the interest of students through exciting material while preparing them for subsequent proof-based courses.

Book Quantitative Literacy Through Games and Gambling

Download or read book Quantitative Literacy Through Games and Gambling written by Mark Hunacek and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-10-04 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was developed to address a need. Quantitative Literacy courses have been established in the mathematics curriculum for decades now. The students in these courses typically dislike and fear mathematics, and the result is often a class populated by many students who are unmotivated and uninterested in the material. This book is a text for such a course; however, it is focused on a single idea that most students seem to already have some intrinsic interest in and is written at an accessible level. It covers the basic ideas of discrete probability and shows how these ideas can be applied to familiar games (roulette, poker, blackjack, etc.). The gambling material is interweaved through the book and introduced as soon as the necessary mathematics has been developed. Throughout, mathematical formalism and symbolism have been avoided, and numerous examples are provided. The book starts with a simple definition of probability, goes through some basic concepts like combining events and expected value, and then discusses some elementary mathematical aspects of various games. Roulette is introduced very early on, as is the game of craps, which requires some knowledge of conditional probability. Other games like poker, blackjack, and lotteries, whose study requires some rudimentary combinatorics, come shortly thereafter. The book ends with a brief introduction to zero-sum games, with some attention paid to the use of these ideas in studying bluffing. In addition to discussion of these traditional games, the author motivates probability by talking about a few applications in legal proceedings that illustrate how mathematics has been misused in the courtroom. There is also a discussion of the Monty Hall problem, a nonintuitive result in probability that has an interesting and colorful history. Hopefully, students studying from this text will find that mathematics is not as horrible as they have always thought and offers some interesting applications in the real world. This should perhaps be the goal of any quantitative literacy course.
