Book Four Corners of the Circle

Download or read book Four Corners of the Circle written by Mohit Jain and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2013-12-24 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever heard about the four corners of the circle? Since childhood, it has been taught in schools that the circle has no corners. Life is a never-ending marathon. It keeps on revolving in circles, and everyone is in search of a final destination, a corner, that they never reach. This book is a small initiative to throw light on different aspects of the education system and how could we join hands to make it more productive. It guides the aspiring students to follow a right approach, take correct decisions, and overcome distractions in their career. It advocates that the educational institutions should focus on enlightening the lives of the students by providing quality education, quality learning ambience, practical grounds to implement class room theories, and by helping students convert their black cat into a white one. The book is neither biased toward students nor educational institutes; the sole purpose is to provide their individual perspectives and reach to a common conclusion. The book contains five theories, which Mr. Mohit Jain has discovered in his sixteen years of teaching experience and which would help the youngsters reach closer and closer to their goals. This book is about us.

Book Quest for the Golden Circle

Download or read book Quest for the Golden Circle written by Arthur R. Gómez and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until World War II, the Four Corners Region—where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona meet—was a collection of isolated rural towns. In the postwar baby boom era, however, small communities like Farmington, New Mexico, became bustling municipalities with rapidly expanding economies. In Quest for the Golden Circle, Arthur Gomez traces the development of the Four Corners' two industries, mining and tourism, to discover how each contributed to the economic and urban transformation of this region during the 1950s and 1960s. Focusing on four cities—Durango, Colorado; Moab, Utah; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Farmington, New Mexico—Gomez chronicles how these towns played key roles in the West's dramatic postwar expansion. Cities such as Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, and Salt Lake City all grew through use of the abundant petroleum, uranium, natural gas, timber, and other natural resources extracted from the Four Corners region. But the energy boom in these towns was not to last. With the arrival of foreign oil bringing economic growth to a halt in the early 1970s, town leaders turned again to the land to stimulate their economy. This time, the resource was a seemingly inexhaustible one—tourism. Gomez examines how business-minded citizens marketed the area's scenic wonders and established the entire region as a tourist destination. Their efforts were further assisted by the selection of stunning federal lands—Mesa Verde, Grand Canyon, and Arches National Parks—as treasures protected and promoted by the National Park Service. Both mining and tourism, however, were beset by complex new problems and issues. Extensive highways, for instance, were planned to bisect a Navajo reservation. As Gomez illustrates, the growing cities in the Four Corners region felt tremendous competing pressures between outside business powers and local needs as their extractive economy boomed and busted and as they then struggled to attract tourism dollars. In addition, he highlights the prominent roles played by federal agencies like the Atomic Energy Commission and the National Park Service in shaping regional destiny. An outstanding analysis of the complexities of postwar development, Quest for the Golden Circle successfully illuminates the history of one region within the larger story of the modern American West.

Book excerpt: While heavily sedated in a South African hospital, a retired bishop dreams of his father who tell him: "I am here to tell you Jason that you have been chosen in this 2041 year of our Lord as the one to reveal the truth encrypted in the Eye of the Messiah, with its thirteen significant elements, as it was written in the secret scroll of Isaiah. The truth will be revealed in 13 dreams involving 13 objects." Jason is attended to by the Matron Larne, who is a part-time hooker, and a male nurse Paul who is gay. One of Larne's clients, Myaso, is the son of a witchdoctor. Next to Jason's room is a patient Abraam, who is reading his Ph.D. in religious studies. As Jason's dreams unfold, Isabel, who is ostracized from her hometown where she lived with her sister Mary, because she committed adultery, discovers the Eye of the Messiah in a grotto. The miracles of the Master, son of Mary and Joseph, are explained using natural phenomena, while four mischievous angels control the destiny of the soul of mankind. Judas convinces a soldier to become a hooker and he falls in love with one of the servants of the Master. An oracle, whose prophetic words are whistled, is a hermaphrodite with a grotesque difference. A vision of the witchdoctor, a dream of Paul's lover who is a Hindu devotee, and the thirteen dreams help Paul, Myaso and Abraam to unveil the shocking truth hidden within the Eye of the Messiah.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sweeping, intense historical thriller starring two of the great minds of Renaissance Italy: Niccolò Machiavelli and Leonardo da Vinci. Based on a real historical mystery, and involving serial murder and a gruesome cat and mouse game at the highest levels of the Church -- it was the era of the infamous Borgias -- The Malice of Fortune is a delicious treat for fans of Umberto Eco, Sarah Dunant, and Elizabeth Kostova. This brilliant novel is an epic tale exploring the backdrop of the most controversial work of the Italian Renaissance, The Prince. Here, Niccolò Machiavelli, the great "scientist" of human behaviour becomes, in effect, the first criminal profiler, while his contemporary and sometime colleague, the erratic genius Leonardo da Vinci, brings his observational powers to the increasingly desperate hunt for a brilliant, terrifying serial murderer. Their foil and partner is the exquisite Damiata, scholar and courtesan. All three know their quarry is someone who holds enormous power, both to tear Italy apart, and destroy each of their most beloved dreams. And every thrilling step is based on historical fact.
