Book excerpt: In this work we demystify the belief that personal success and happiness, as well as those values that people seek, are the work of chance, luck or destiny. We show that anyone and everyone can become the person they want and position themselves in life according to their interests. Success and all personal achievements are values that are constructed by the person themselves. There are rules, laws that govern bliss. Both success and failure are the results of our actions; When we do things the right way, the results are according to our desire. When we make mistakes, we make mistakes because we are unaware of the necessary pillars that support the good functioning, the good construction of the object of our interest; When we are unaware of this science, we make mistakes, and the results reflect our lack of knowledge. In this book we show what these pillars are; we make it clear which laws are responsible for good constructions, for what we call success, which are nothing more than the results of work well done, well informed by knowledge, by knowledge. We show that even people who so far have not been able to become who they desire, nor reach the position of their dreams, even these people, no matter how bad their situations are, can still change, rebuild themselves and reconfigure their lives. ways of seeing themselves, becoming confident people, with a winning mentality, becoming truly empowered and fulfilled people in every way. The core of our work is to show that the science that leads to personal success is accessible to anyone, as long as that person decides to learn and follow the laws that govern good results, which is what we call success.

Download or read book THEORY IN SELF DETERMINATION written by Michael L. Wehmeyer and published by Charles C Thomas Publisher. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides a comprehensive overview of three theoretical perspectives proposed during the past decade addressing the self-determination construct as it applies to the field of special education. The three models were selected primarily because they have focused on defining and categorizing self-determination for all students with disabilities, including students with mental retardation and other cognitive disabilities. These models are intended to provide students and practitioners a solid grounding in self-determination theory. All models have been evaluated among students with cognitive disabilities but are applicable to all students with or without disabilities. The authors research each model and have applied their own theoretical framework to special education, ensuring that interventions to promote skills like problem solving, goal setting, decision making, and self-advocacy are in place for all students. By reading this text, the reader will gain a solid, theoretically based foundation in understanding the self-determination construct which ultimately supports the development of instructional interventions that enable students with disabilities to become self-determined. It will be useful as a text in upper undergraduate and graduate courses in special education, psychology, social work/welfare, general education, vocational rehabilitation and disability studies.

Download or read book Molecular Basis of Insulin Action written by Michael P. Czech and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One day, in a moment of weakness, I fell prey to the temptation to organize and edit this volume on the mechanism of insulin action. The major reason for attempting to resist, of course, is the amazing speed at which advances are being made in this field. The usefulness of books such as this is often quickly compromised by new findings obtained during and just after publication. Happily for the contributors to this volume and myself, this unfortunate fate does not appear to be in store for us. New and important findings will undoubtedly continue to flow in this field during the next few years, but I believe this will increase rather than decrease the usefulness of this volume. As a matter of fact, as we go to press, I am delighted both that I was tempted and that I failed to resist. There are two basic reasons for my enthusiasm about this book, and they both relate to this issue of timeliness. First, each of the contributors has had an opportunity to update the scientific content of the various chapters only a few months before actual publication of this volume. The material presented in this volume is, at publication, contemporary with the current original literature. This volume thus provides an ex cellent framework for assessing new discoveries in this field for some time to come.
