Book So Far Gone Girl A Gone Girl Parody

Download or read book So Far Gone Girl A Gone Girl Parody written by Luke Young and published by Luke Young. This book was released on 2015-07-23 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What do you get when you take the amazing GONE GIRL story, replace the lame anniversary treasure hunts with deadly SAW movie-esque traps and have all the craziness investigated by lunatic detectives channeling the ones from the television show THE KILLING? You get an unputdownable and hilarious parody of EPIC proportions. Don’t miss it! Marriage can be a real nightmare; especially when your wife is a sociopath, who's either trying to kill you, frame you for her disappearance or maybe even both. Supported by his sister whose own behavior is inappropriate at best, a pair of lunatic detectives and in-laws with questionable motives, Rick Dunce tries to navigate the tricky waters of exactly how one should act when the woman he absolutely can’t stand disappears without a trace. If this Husband-of-the-Year is truly responsible, did he act in self-defense or did one too many bizarre quiz questions or inane treasure hunt clues finally push him over the edge? Whether Winnie is missing, dead or just hiding out, the only thing that's certain is she's so far gone that it's not even funny— except that it is. A parody of, Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn's acclaimed and runaway bestselling masterpiece, So Far Gone, Girl, will leave you doubled over with laughter, gasping for breath and checking to see if your own ottoman can really balance on its side like that. What readers are saying... "... there are some great one-liners... And that ending was great. I think it's the ending a lot of us hoped for, but didn't get, in GONE GIRL" - Nenia Campbell (The Armchair Librarian) "... kept me glued to the pages in elated hilarity. From the first line, I was cracking up, and that didn't relent almost the entire time." - Hayden Casey (The Teen Bookworm) "... I started laughing the first page and never stopped. I've read the original and let me tell you, while I was shocked and couldn't stop reading about that crazy wife and the insane thing she did, nothing compares to Luke Young's version. I really enjoyed this story. A great read!"

Book The Magic Will

  • Pages : 354 pages

Download or read book The Magic Will written by Herbert Gold and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the course of an impressive career as a writer, Herbert Gold has demonstrated many gifts, among them his talent for mak-ing high drama of ordinary events, ordinary people." -Chicago Tribune Book World "Gold...has a sharp eye for detail."-The Washington Times Magazine "Not just a good book, but a great one."-Daily Mail (London) "Herbert Gold... gives his stories a wry, bright air of wonder...he is a born storyteller."-New York Times "One of the most gifted writers in America."-Detroit Times Important writers are expected to gather together collections of their shorter works-the obligatory book of stories or essays. In this collection, Herbert Gold discards convention, and instead combines fiction and non-fiction themes that have been important to him as a writer and social thinker. This "interchange between fact and fiction," as Gold writes, "presents the picture of an American mind wrestling with the American mentality." And that mind ranges wide: from the miseries of Haiti to the disasters of Biafra; from the new universities and the beatniks and hippies of San Francisco in the 1960s to the literary life and encounters with random violence, love, death, and sexuality in the present. Portions of this book have been published in periodicals as varied as Esquire and Look, Hudson Review, and Tri-Quarterly, and some appear here for the first time. For this edition, Gold bridges the sections with new introductions, which link the specific works, the times, and his life. The book includes the savage and moving story "A Death on the East Side," and his meditation on the doom of Biafra and the meaning of its fate. He has added two new essays, "King of the Cleveland Beatniks," about his brother, and "Quality Time with Sonny Barger," about the former president of the Hell's Angels Oakland Chapter. These show his consistent interest in what many would see as the margins of social life. Of the title, the author writes: "The Magic Will" seeks to make the real world unreal and magical, and the unreal and magical world practical and real." Amusing, touching, playful, ultimately deeply serious, this book by Herbert Gold further illuminates the mind and heart of a superb writer. It will be a joy to those interested in the humanities, as well as cultural history and social awareness in the broadest sense. Herbert Gold is a novelist, short story writer, essayist, and occasional journalist, who has made his living as a writer for fifty years.

Book Waldo Emerson My Grandfather and Me

Download or read book Waldo Emerson My Grandfather and Me written by Eugene X. Perticone and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-04 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When Matthew is almost twelve years old, his grandfather, Sam, decides it's time for him to get to know the work of Ralph Waldo Emerson, a sage the boy has never heard of. During their frequent meetings, Sam introduces Matthew to Emerson's sophisticated notions and wisdoms. Emerson's words, delivered in the essay Self-Reliance and in other writings, teach Matthew practical concepts that give greater meaning to life and help him successfully overcome difficulties for himself and his family. At the same time, Sam and Matthew develop a very special and loving relationship. In Waldo Emerson, My Grandfather, and Me, author Eugene X. Perticone shows that although circumstances and the problems of life may seem different and more complex in our time, the best solutions haven't changed much. The wisdom of Ralph Waldo Emerson as it pertains to both worldly and spiritual matters is shown to be as relevant today as in the time it was written, and a grandfather's approach to teaching this to his grandson results in happiness for both of them as well as many others in the boy's life.

Book Erosion of Reality by Spatialisation and Digitalisation

Download or read book Erosion of Reality by Spatialisation and Digitalisation written by Pieter Brabers and published by LIT Verlag. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an innovative view of everyday reality. It clarifies how the spatial dimension of reality, as well as our personal and inter-personal perception and interaction with reality, aggravates human separateness at the expense of human connectedness. It shows how many urgent societal challenges are affected by an imbalance between spatial and the non-spatial aspects, and offers an analysis of the impoverishment of society, both in spatial terms (spatialisation) and in informational terms (digitalisation). Drawing on insights from quantum physics and depth psychology, it proposes an unorthodox view of the potential of humans, and of reality in itself, that was lost in this impoverishment. "I found this book hugely interesting, highly original and very well written. I haven't come across these ideas presented in quite this way, and so the book could be considered a groundbreaking contribution" Dr Stephan Harding, Resident Ecologist Schumacher College, Author of 'Animate Earth'. "It rarely happens that we are invited by a scholarly text to look at reality in a basically different way than the one we are used to, at least in a way that is seductive and compelling at the same time. But this is precisely what the text of Pieter Brabers has done with me." Dr John Rijsman, Emeritus Professor of Social Psychology, Tilburg University. "Pieter Brabers' monumental treatise draws our attention to possibly the key problem that underlies all our problems: the way we construct reality. Brabers opens the way to a better reality-construction, and understanding this form could highlight, even if not necessarily immediately resolve, the problems generated by our "faulty reality" - as he calls it. I recommend this book to all serious students of the disconnect that marks the fault of the contemporary view of the world." Dr Ervin Laszlo, author of "The Akasha Paradigm" Pieter Brabers (1944) studied Architecture and worked as a Lecturer at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. He has lived for the last 20 years in the south of Spain.

Book Making Black History

Download or read book Making Black History written by Dominique Haensell and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2021-10-04 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study proposes that – rather than trying to discern the normative value of Afropolitanism as an identificatory concept, politics, ethics or aesthetics – Afropolitanism may be best approached as a distinct historical and cultural moment, that is, a certain historical constellation that allows us to glimpse the shifting and multiple silhouettes which Africa, as signifier, as real and imagined locus, embodies in the globalized, yet predominantly Western, cultural landscape of the 21st century. As such, Making Black History looks at contemporary fictions of the African or Black Diaspora that have been written and received in the moment of Afropolitanism. Discursively, this moment is very much part of a diasporic conversation that takes place in the US and is thus informed by various negotiations of blackness, race, class, and cultural identity. Yet rather than interpreting Afropolitan literatures (merely) as a rejection of racial solidarity, as some commentators have, they should be read as ambivalent responses to post-racial discourses dominating the first decade of the 21st century, particularly in the US, which oscillate between moments of intense hope and acute disappointment. But in the hands of fierce women, men will be brought to their knees. Three campfire secrets. Two witnesses. One dead in the trees. And the woman, thirty years later, bent on making the guilty finally pay. 1988. A group of outcasts gather at a small, prestigious arts camp nestled in the Maine woods. They're the painters: bright, hopeful, teeming with potential. But secrets and dark ambitions rise like smoke from a campfire, and the truths they tell will come back to haunt them in ways more deadly than they dreamed. 2018. Esteemed art professor Max Durant arrives at his protégé's remote home to view her graduate thesis collection. He knows Audra is beautiful and brilliant. He knows being invited into her private world is a rare gift. But he doesn't know that Audra has engineered every aspect of their weekend together. Every detail, every conversation. Audra has woven the perfect web. Only Audra knows what happened that summer in 1988. Max's secret, and the dark things that followed. And even though it won't be easy, Audra knows someone must pay. A searing psychological thriller of trauma, dark academia, complicity, and revenge, Dark Things I Adore unravels the realities behind campfire legends—the horrors that happen in the dark, the girls who become cautionary tales, and the guilty who go unpunished. Until now. "A smart, nuanced exploration of victims and villains, inspiration and theft, and the intersection of these things, in every artist. Pay attention to Katie Lattari. She's the real deal."—Sarah Langan, author of Good Neighbors

Book The Baby in My Dream Was Me

Download or read book The Baby in My Dream Was Me written by Paula M. Kramer and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do therapists understand therapy? Unfortunately, the evidence shows that many therapists do not. Paula M. Kramer, M.A. spent five years in therapy with two different therapists to treat her suicidal depression. Paula?s first therapist left her so completely unprepared for understanding the clues of her life that Paula nearly killed three children. Paula?s second therapist gave her the freedom she needed to recognize that a memory from her childhood meant that her mother had tried to kill her. Paula?s journal shows how therapists can completely misunderstand therapy in spite of the best intentions to help. Paula includes dozens of therapist errors revealed by several research studies. She also includes recommendations to both clients and therapists for making therapy effective. Furthermore, Paula?s journal gives a new understanding of repressed memories. Instead of repressing her memory of being murdered, Paula?s mind broke the memory into separate physical, mental, and emotional pieces. Paula actually lived with the physical pain of being murdered for almost forty years. Those separate pieces became the clues Paula followed to find her self. The clues are highlighted in Paula?s journal so you can see when and how they appeared in her life. When therapists do not understand therapy, they also do not understand how therapy affects a client?s life. Nor do they understand how therapy affects the lives of those close to the client. Paula Kramer?s journal is a remarkable look inside depression, long term therapy, and the consequences of therapy based on assumption rather than fact. Also included are 22 worksheets for clients, 6 worksheets for therapists, and more.
