Book Drop Surface Interactions

Download or read book Drop Surface Interactions written by Martin Rein and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive overview of fluid mechanical, thermal and physico-chemical aspects of drop-surface interactions. Basic physical mechanisms pertaining to free-surface flow phenomena characteristic of drop impact on solid and liquid surfaces are explained emphasizing the importance of scaling. Moreover, physico-chemical fundamentals relating to a forced spreading of complex solutions, analytical tools for calculating compressibility effects, and heat transfer and phase change phenomena occurring during solidification and evaporation processes, respectively, are introduced in detail. Finally, numerical approaches particularly suited for modeling drop-surface interactions are consisely surveyed with a particular emphasis on boundary integral methods and Navier-Stokes algorithms (volume of fluid, level set and front tracking algorithms). The book is closed by contributions to a workshop on Drop-Surface Interactions held at the International Centre of Mechanical Sciences.

Book Fluid Solid Interaction Dynamics

Download or read book Fluid Solid Interaction Dynamics written by Jing Tang Xing and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-08-30 with total page 680 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid-Solid Interaction Dynamics: Theory, Variational Principles, Numerical Methods and Applications gives a comprehensive accounting of fluid-solid interaction dynamics, including theory, numerical methods and their solutions for various FSI problems in engineering. The title provides the fundamental theories, methodologies and results developed in the application of FSI dynamics. Four numerical approaches that can be used with almost all integrated FSI systems in engineering are presented. Methods are linked with examples to illustrate results. In addition, numerical results are compared with available experiments or numerical data in order to demonstrate the accuracy of the approaches and their value to engineering applications. The title gives readers the state-of-the-art in theory, variational principles, numerical modeling and applications for fluid-solid interaction dynamics. Readers will be able to independently formulate models to solve their engineering FSI problems using information from this book. Presents the state-of-the-art in fluid-solid interaction dynamics, providing theory, method and results Takes an integrated approach to formulate, model and simulate FSI problems in engineering Illustrates results with concrete examples Gives four numerical approaches and related theories that are suitable for almost all integrated FSI systems Provides the necessary information for bench scientists to independently formulate, model, and solve physical FSI problems in engineering

Book Fundamentals of Fluid Solid Interactions

Download or read book Fundamentals of Fluid Solid Interactions written by Xiaodong (Sheldon) Wang and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-08-13 with total page 587 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the computational and theoretical approaches to the coupling of fluid mechanics and solids mechanics. In particular, nonlinear dynamical systems are introduced to the handling of complex fluid-solid interaction systems, For the past few decades, many terminologies have been introduced to this field, namely, flow-induced vibration, aeroelasticity, hydroelasticity, fluid-structure interaction, fluid-solid interaction, and more recently multi-physics problems. Moreover, engineering applications are distributed within different disciplines, such as nuclear, civil, aerospace, ocean, chemical, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Regrettably, while each particular subject is by itself very extensive, it has been difficult for a single book to cover in a reasonable depth and in the mean time to connect various topics. In light of the current multidisciplinary research need in nanotechnology and bioengineering, there is an urgent need for books to provide such a linkage and to lay a foundation for more specialized fields. Interdisciplinary across all types of engineering Comprehensive study of fluid-solid interaction Discusses complex system dynamics derived from interactive systems Provides mathematic modeling of biological systems

Book Fluid Structure Interactions and Uncertainties

Download or read book Fluid Structure Interactions and Uncertainties written by Abdelkhalak El Hami and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-03-27 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to the general study of fluid structure interaction with consideration of uncertainties. The fluid-structure interaction is the study of the behavior of a solid in contact with a fluid, the response can be strongly affected by the action of the fluid. These phenomena are common and are sometimes the cause of the operation of certain systems, or otherwise manifest malfunction. The vibrations affect the integrity of structures and must be predicted to prevent accelerated wear of the system by material fatigue or even its destruction when the vibrations exceed a certain threshold.

Book Statistical Mechanics of Liquids and Solutions

Download or read book Statistical Mechanics of Liquids and Solutions written by Roland Kjellander and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-07-30 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The statistical mechanical theory of liquids and solutions is a fundamental area of physical sciences with important implications for many industrial applications. This book shows how you can start from basic laws for the interactions and motions of microscopic particles and calculate how macroscopic systems of these particles behave, thereby explaining properties of matter at the scale that we perceive. Using this microscopic, molecular approach, the text emphasizes clarity of physical explanations for phenomena and mechanisms relevant to fluids, addressing the structure and behavior of liquids and solutions under various conditions. A notable feature is the author’s treatment of forces between particles that include nanoparticles, macroparticles, and surfaces. The book also provides an expanded, in-depth treatment of polar liquids and electrolytes.

Book Computational Overview of Fluid Structure Interaction

Download or read book Computational Overview of Fluid Structure Interaction written by Khaled Ghaedi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2021-07-28 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI), also known as engineering fluid mechanics, deals with mutual interaction between fluid and structural components. Fluid flow depending on the structural shape, motion, surface, and structural roughness, acts as mechanical forces on the structure. FSI can be seen everywhere in medicine, engineering, aerospace, the sciences, and even our daily life. This book provides the basic concept of fluid flow behavior in interaction with structures, which is crucial for almost all engineering disciplines. Along with the fundamental principles, the book covers a variety of FSI problems ranging from fundamentals of fluid mechanics to plasma physics, wind turbines and their turbulence, heat transfer, magnetohydrodynamics, and dam-reservoir systems.
