Book excerpt: An ordinary girl. Four dragons tied to her by an ancient destiny. And a world to save. I thought a lot about death. My death. I got used to the idea of dying. I always imagined it'd be peaceful, with slow-motion scenes and a nice background melody... like in a movie. But I was wrong. I was lost in the eerie quiet. It was cold and dark. My hair floated lightly in the air. No, not in the air, but in the water. Water surrounded me from every side. Frozen water that seemed to burn in my lungs. I was drowning and couldn't breathe. I tried to swim. Desperately, I kicked my legs and waved my hands, but I wasn't able to reach the surface. I felt all my energies slowly leave me. It was too dark, and I was tired, but I didn't want to give up. I didn't want to die. I tried to push harder with my feet, hoping to feel something solid underneath me, but there was nothing but the fluctuating light and darkness. It swallowed me and I didn't know what to do. I had always been afraid of two things in my life, water and darkness, so I wondered how the hell I had ended up here. My head was spinning due to the lack of oxygen. I kept fighting, but every cell in my body screamed to let it go. I had to breathe, so I opened my mouth and inhaled strongly. Water came into my lungs, but it had stopped hurting. I no longer felt anything when my body became numb and the darkness devoured me. And then I woke up with a start. My name is Emma and I'm just trying to get by. Between keeping up with my studies, working two jobs, and caring for my ailing father, it's all I can do to make it through a day. It'd be a lot easier if the Drakons hadn't come into my life and turned it upside down. Sometimes I think their mission is to make me miserable. And yet, no matter what they do, I can't shake the feeling there's something different about them. The Drakon brothers are unlike anyone I've ever known, and I'm about to find out why. Flames of Truth is the first book in The Lost Fae series, a paranormal reverse harem series intended for audiences eighteen and over. Oh, did I mention it features hot dragon shifters?

They were star-crossed lovers in arranged, loveless marriages, until Lord Glamis died and Lady Campbell divorced to marry a lover. Janet and Archibald were wed at last only to fall victim to King James's revenge against the Douglases. Archibald Campbell was the brother of Colin Campbell, Earl Argyll, a man of core values, lieutenant of the King's Third Army. A story of true love destroyed by revenge and betrayal. In the end, the couple faced a decision, to expose the true heir to the crown, put Scotland in political peril, or accept their own martyrdom, keeping silent. Book excerpt: The Civil War and the years of Reconstruction had finally ended. The small town of Tuskegee, Alabama, had quietly adjusted to the changes. I Am That I Am takes us to this demure town. Just when the scalawags and carpetbaggers ceased their tumultuous attempts to reorganize the South, a more sinister enemy appeared. The endless stretches of cotton flourishing during the hot days of summer abruptly ended. The ominous boll weevil with its insatiable appetite threatened the economy of the South. The white cotton was now brown and dying on the vines. Sarah, once a part of the antebellum gentry, proved to be a staunch ray of hope for both her family and her neighbors. One neighbor in particular was the equally resolute paradigm of Southern love and hospitality. This neighbor was Zachariah, a kind and humble soul who was raising his two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Mary. When Dr. George Washington Carver came to the recently opened school for Negroes (as the African Americans were called in those day), he found the help given by people such as Sarah and Zachariah, a refreshing reminder of God’s providential hand. Even more surprising was the tenacious love of the people that transcended any color barriers that many would assume existed. Dr. Carver, a botanist, soon found the rare yet simple solution to the boll weevil epidemic—the tiny insect called the beetle. If only Sarah could find a solution to the dark and mysterious cloud that seemed to aggrieve her daughter-in-law. If only Zachariah could solve the mystery of the disappearing food from the barn.

Download or read book Out of the Flames written by Lawrence Goldstone and published by Crown. This book was released on 2008-12-10 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Out of the Flames is an extraordinary story - providing testament to the power of ideas, the enduring legacy of books, and the triumph of individual courage. Out of the Flames tracks the history of The Chrisitianismi Restituto, examining Michael Servetus's life and times and the politics of the first information during the sixteenth century. The Chrisitianismi Restituto, a heretical work of biblical scholarship, written in 1553, aimed to refute the orthodox Christianity that Michael Servetus' old colleague, John Calvin, supported. After the book spread through the ranks of Protestant hierarchy, Servetus was tried and agonizingly burned at the stake, the last known copy of the Restitutio chained to his leg. Servetus's execution marked a turning point in the quest for freedom of expression, due largely to the development of the printing press and the proliferation of books in Renaissance Europe. Three copies of the Restitutio managed to survive the burning, despite every effort on the part of his enemies to destroy them. As a result, the book became almost a surrogate for its author, going into hiding and relying on covert distribution until it could be read freely, centuries later. Lawrence and Nancy Goldstone follow the clandestine journey of the three copies through the subsequent centuries and explore its author's legacy and influence over the thinkers that shared his spirit and genius, such as Leibniz, Voltaire, Rousseau, Jefferson, Clarence Dorrow, and William Osler.

Download or read book MYSTIC LOVE WHAT ARE TRUE LOVE TWIN FLAME UNION Illustrated written by Rakhi Roy Halder and published by Rakhi Roy Halder. This book was released on with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: FACING RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS? YOU CAN BE A TWIN FLAME Feeling ignored, absentminded, or unhappy, may signify that you hold Twin Flame energy within. The applied quantum science books can remove your confusion. The ancient literature says Twin Flames are two halves of one soul manifested as masculine and feminine energy in two individuals. The law of nature entangles them. Plato talked about the two halves of human souls in his work Symposium. The Universe always guides the Twin Flames through synchronicities to reach union with their counterpart. In this journey to the union, the Twin Flames identify their life’s mission and contribute to the betterment of humankind. It is not necessary that a woman will carry feminine energy and a man will carry masculine energy in a Twin Flame pair. People of the same sex can also be Twin Flames. In the book MYSTIC LOVE, the feminine Twin Flame receives guidance from the Universe and goes through self-awakening, realizes quantum reality, and gains knowledge about the various concepts of the quantum world that finally unites her with her Twin Flame. This quantum series book is a life-changing book that aims at transforming life. Along with the everlasting love story, this book presents the quantum theories to unite science and spirituality. The quantum theory of ‘QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT’ supports the concept of Twin Flames. This book highlights the stages of the Twin Flame journey through a love story. Twin Flames together challenge social taboos. The Feminine TFs are originally Creative, Intuitive, Healing, Gentle, Expressive, Wise, Patient, Emotional, Nurturing, and Flexible by nature. Initially, the Masculine TFs are Logical, Rational, Active, Firm, Loyal, Adventurous, and Strong by nature. Social conditioning suppresses their original nature, and they become unhappy. Unhappiness compels them to find their purpose in life. This purpose helps the Twin Flames to unite. Learning to balance their energy makes their life blissful. This book is visionary and metaphysical where a twin flame unites with her ultimate lover. The vision of Rakhi Roy Halder is closer to the vision of K.D. Courage, Elle Hari, Josephine Smoke, Shaleia Divine, Silvia Moon, and A.
