Download or read book Carbon 13 NMR Spectroscopy written by Eberhard Breitmaier and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1987 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: E. Breitmaier, W. Voelter Carbon-13 NMR Spectroscopy High-Resolution Methods and Applications in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Third, completely revised edition New techniques and increased use of computers have led to rapid development in 13C NMR spectroscopy with enhanced instrumental sensitivity and improved quality of the spectra. This necessitated a complete revision when the third edition of this successful monograph was prepared. The new methods described include those for multiplicity analysis and two-dimensional homo- or hetero-nuclear shift correlations. As in the second edition, the authors survey the large number of 13C NMR applications to organic molecules and natural products in a representative and systematic rather than an exhaustive way. New sections about coupling constants, organophosphorus and organometallic compounds as well as synthetic polymers have been added. The scope remains limited to high-resolution methods and molecular systems.
Download or read book High Temperature Plasmas written by Karl-Heinz Spatschek and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-11-12 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filling the gap for a treatment of the subject as an advanced course in theoretical physics with a huge potential for future applications, this monograph discusses aspects of these applications and provides theoretical methods and tools for their investigation. Throughout this coherent and up-to-date work the main emphasis is on classical plasmas at high-temperatures, drawing on the experienced author's specialist background. As such, it covers the key areas of magnetic fusion plasma, laser-plasma-interaction and astrophysical plasmas, while also including nonlinear waves and phenomena. For master and PhD students as well as researchers interested in the theoretical foundations of plasma models.
Download or read book Fibrous Proteins Structures and Mechanisms written by David A.D. Parry and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-18 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the readers with an up-to-date review of the design, structure and function of a representative selection of fibrous proteins in both health and disease. The importance of the α-helical coiled coil, a conformational motif based on the heptad repeat in the amino acid sequence of all α-fibrous proteins (and parts of some globular proteins) is underlined by three Chapters devoted to its design, structure, function and topology. Specific proteins covered in the text and which depend on the coiled coil for their structure and function, include the intermediate filament proteins, tropomyosin, myosin, paramyosin, fibrin and members of the spectrin superfamily. Also described are fibrous proteins based on the β-pleated sheet and collagen conformations. Recombinant structural proteins, especially of silk and collagen, are discussed in the context of developing new biomaterials with varied applications. Established researchers and postgraduate students in the fields of protein chemistry, biochemistry and structural biophysics will find Fibrous Proteins: Structures and Mechanisms to be an invaluable collection of topical reviews that describe the basic advances made in the field of fibrous proteins over the past decade. This book, written by recognized authorities in the field, provides a clear account of the current status of fibrous protein research and, in addition, establishes the basis for deciding the most appropriate directions for future activity, including the applications of protein engineering and the commercial exploitation of new biomaterials.

Download or read book The Distributional Implications of the Impact of Fuel Price Increases on Inflation written by Mr. Kangni R Kpodar and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2021-11-12 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper investigates the response of consumer price inflation to changes in domestic fuel prices, looking at the different categories of the overall consumer price index (CPI). We then combine household survey data with the CPI components to construct a CPI index for the poorest and richest income quintiles with the view to assess the distributional impact of the pass-through. To undertake this analysis, the paper provides an update to the Global Monthly Retail Fuel Price Database, expanding the product coverage to premium and regular fuels, the time dimension to December 2020, and the sample to 190 countries. Three key findings stand out. First, the response of inflation to gasoline price shocks is smaller, but more persistent and broad-based in developing economies than in advanced economies. Second, we show that past studies using crude oil prices instead of retail fuel prices to estimate the pass-through to inflation significantly underestimate it. Third, while the purchasing power of all households declines as fuel prices increase, the distributional impact is progressive. But the progressivity phases out within 6 months after the shock in advanced economies, whereas it persists beyond a year in developing countries.
