Book excerpt: 4th Refuting the Myth of Evolutionism and Exposing the Folly of Clergy Letters The Darwinian theory of evolution begins with facts (science of microevolution) and ends with fiction (myths of macroevolution). The myths are part of our experience, no transitional organisms in the living world, and part of our discoveries, no transitional fossils in such deposits at the Burgess Shale and Chengjiang sites, where various kinds of organisms appear together in large collection. In his fourth book, Refuting the Myth of Evolutionism and Exposing the Folly of Clergy Letters, author, Michael Ebifegha, stresses that real science is timeless and based on events that are directly or indirectly observable, testable, and repeatable. Challenging evolutionists and their clerical allies who are banning the teaching of creationism in public schools, Ebifegha insists that evolutionism is also outside sciences purview and, therefore, should be banned as well. He reprimands clerics for capitalizing on human knowledge but failing to recognize the validity of Gods personal claim in speech before an audience and in print on stone tablets for having created the world. These interventions, he asserts, fulfills the worlds standard legal requirement for inventors. Ebifegha argues that the inconsistency of imposing evolutionism as scientific truth on the public and banning creationism violates (1) the academic rights of accomplished scientists who disagree with evolutionism on scientific grounds; (2) the US Supreme Courts 1992 declaration, At the heart of liberty is the right to define ones own concept of existence, of meaning, of the universe, and of the mystery of human life; and (3) Gods historical claim to ownership of the universe. Instead of separation of church and state, Ebifegha recommends separation of worldviews and state.

Book The History of the Harwood Families of Darwen Lancashire

Download or read book The History of the Harwood Families of Darwen Lancashire written by Michael Harwood and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-11-22 with total page 738 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an insight into how our Lancashire ancestors lived and interacted with the environment in which they existed, over the centuries. Apart from a general history of Darwen life, this volume covers not only the very first ancestral tree but follows the story of one particular family branch through to the twentieth century and into living memory. The story includes detailed information of many other families which whom the Harwoods have intermingled over the centuries, and it would be a rare Darwener, who could not find some connection to his own ancestors within these pages. “Enthusiasm, in-depth research, and a unique authorial voice: this book is what genealogy should result in. It locates the Harwood family in a specific historical place and then watches them grow up and move out. Family journeys are explored from the paper mills of Kent to the goldfields of Ballarat and Maori massacres. “The sheer numbers of documents illustrated show both their value as evidence and the breadth of Mike’s research. There are fruitful and informative diversions into work, leisure, and religion, with excursions into the history of education, nonconformity, and workhouses, among many other things. It’s a story of Lancashire, and a Lancashire in the world. And it’s hard to argue with its announcement of itself not as a history but as the history of the Lancashire Harwoods. They are both typical and unique, and in tracing the development of Lancashire from a rural to an industrial economy, Mike never loses focus on his ancestors’ place in it.” —Neil Sayer, archive access manager, Lancashire Archives

Book excerpt: An urgent manifesto and a dramatic memoir of awakening, this is the story of revolutionary love. Finalist for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize • “In a world stricken with fear and turmoil, Valarie Kaur shows us how to summon our deepest wisdom.”—Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love How do we love in a time of rage? How do we fix a broken world while not breaking ourselves? Valarie Kaur—renowned Sikh activist, filmmaker, and civil rights lawyer—describes revolutionary love as the call of our time, a radical, joyful practice that extends in three directions: to others, to our opponents, and to ourselves. It enjoins us to see no stranger but instead look at others and say: You are part of me I do not yet know. Starting from that place of wonder, the world begins to change: It is a practice that can transform a relationship, a community, a culture, even a nation. Kaur takes readers through her own riveting journey—as a brown girl growing up in California farmland finding her place in the world; as a young adult galvanized by the murders of Sikhs after 9/11; as a law student fighting injustices in American prisons and on Guantánamo Bay; as an activist working with communities recovering from xenophobic attacks; and as a woman trying to heal from her own experiences with police violence and sexual assault. Drawing from the wisdom of sages, scientists, and activists, Kaur reclaims love as an active, public, and revolutionary force that creates new possibilities for ourselves, our communities, and our world. See No Stranger helps us imagine new ways of being with each other—and with ourselves—so that together we can begin to build the world we want to see.
