Download or read book Between You and Me written by Mike Wallace and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2005-10-25 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the age of 87, Mike Wallace is a legendary figure in broadcast journalism. Now, after 60 years of reporting on important events around the world, he shares his personal stories about the incredible range of celebrities, newsmakers, criminals, and world leaders who have subjected themselves to his unique brand of questioning. Through Wallace's intimate observations about these figures, we experience afresh the pivotal events that have shaped our world. Here, we meet the guilt-racked Secret Service agent assigned to John F. Kennedy's car in Dallas. We learn about the candid moment when President Nixon revealed an unexpected softer side. We witness the underpinnings of the century's greatest social movement through Wallace's eyes as he manages to earn the trust of major civil rights leaders, and we see the trauma Wallace experienced while covering the conflict in Israel. These off-camera anecdotes and fascinating excerpts from Wallace's interviews--with everyone from Eleanor Roosevelt to all the presidents of the last half century, from Frank Lloyd Wright to Johnny Carson, from Margaret Sanger to Malcom X--give us a new perspective on some of the greatest lives and minds of our time. With a reporter's eye for detail, Wallace mingles laughter, tragedy, and revelatory insight in a memoir unlike any other. For anyone who's ever wondered what it's like to make history for a living, this is a must-read.

Download or read book No More Divorce for You and Me written by Randy Morrow and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 164 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a MUST READ Page if You Want to Understand How the Book is Written I am writing this book not to be perfect but to be helpful. The best way to understand the book is to think of each chapter as an individual story or lesson learned. In fact, the best way to use it is to either a) just open up to a page; or b) look at the index to find the subject for which you are looking. Nothing in this book is theory, I actually experienced everything. I am one of those people who failed their way forward in life until I finally became the person of whom I am proud. I have intentionally not gone into minute detail because I want you to read it, think about it, and come to your own conclusion(s). Someone who has written a book has always held a place of awe with me. Because of my own experiences and highly limited beliefs, it never dawned on me that I could write a book. This all changed when I came down with a dose of cancer and started throwing off all the anchors holding me as a person, down. All of a sudden the book was just for me; it didn t have to look or feel a certain way; and I didn t care if a single book was ever sold. I just wanted to be an author! And here is the result. I sincerely hope you enjoy and learn from my own journey through the years. Experiences are good and bad, just that. They are something I went through, learned from, and survived. However, by sharing these experiences and allowing people to learn from them, I give them value. Randy Morrow

Download or read book Where Am I Now written by Mara Wilson and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2016-09-13 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Thoughtfully traces [Mara Wilson's] journey from child actress to Hollywood dropout...Who is she now? She's a writer." —NPR's "Guide To 2016’s Great Reads" “Growing up, I wanted to be Mara Wilson. Where Am I Now? is a delight.” —Ilana Glazer, cocreator and star of Broad City Named a best book of the month by GoodReads and Entertainment Weekly A former child actor best known for her starring roles in Matilda and Mrs. Doubtfire, Mara Wilson has always felt a little young and out of place: as the only kid on a film set full of adults, the first daughter in a house full of boys, a Valley girl in New York and a neurotic in California, and a grown-up the world still remembers as a little girl. Tackling everything from what she learned about sex on the set of Melrose Place, to discovering in adolescence that she was no longer “cute” enough for Hollywood, these essays chart her journey from accidental fame to relative (but happy) obscurity. They also illuminate universal struggles, like navigating love and loss, and figuring out who you are and where you belong. Candid, insightful, moving, and hilarious, Where Am I Now? introduces Mara Wilson as a brilliant new chronicler of the experience that is growing up female.

Download or read book Hope in The Morning One Man s Struggle With Addition and What it Means For You written by Michael G. and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael grew up under the crushing hand of an abusive alcoholic father. As an altar boy, he suffered mental and emotional abuse at the hands of the clergy. Soon, Michael turned his back on the church - and God - for over 20 years. Unfortunately God's presence took a back seat to his anger, resentment and disappointment. It was during this period he indulged in many self-destructive behaviors. But he never forgot the "God of his youth," and a relationship that nourished and protected him when he was very young. Twenty years go by, and Michael is married and fully invested in his chosen profession, yet still angry at God. It was in the rooms of Al-Anon where Michael rediscovered his faith in a God that cares and began the challenging journey back to the "God of his youth." But God wasn't through with Michael. In 1985, having a profound spiritual experience, he rededicated his life to the Lord, accepting God's forgiveness, mercy and grace for his past indiscretions. The Scriptures became alive to him. He devoured the Scriptures at every opportunity. Since then, he has been in leadership in various churches. But God had more blessings for Michael. He hit another bottom when his attorney job ended. Shortly after that he attended Sierra Tucson for treatment of his codependency, grief and other unresolved issues. This was another turning point in his life. Michael uses his experience as a lawyer and Christian Life Coach to be of greater service to others. Since 1998, Michael runs "The Serenity Shack," a sober living home for men. Michael lives in Long Beach, CA. Taking his Australian Shepherd, Oreo, for her run is the favorite part of his (and her) day. He can be contacted at [email protected].
