This book was released on 2011 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Amendment 83 would allocate the Western and Central Gulf of Alaska Pacific cod total allowable catch (TAC) limits among various gear and operational sectors. Sector allocations would limit the amount of Western and Central GOA Pacific cod that each sector is authorized to harvest. This action would reduce competition among sectors and support stability in the Pacific cod fishery. This amendment would also limit access to the Federal Pacific cod TAC fisheries prosecuted in State waters, commonly known as the 'parallel fishery', adjacent to the Western and Central GOA. This action is intended to promote community participation and provide incentives for new entrants in the jig sector. It also promotes the goals and objectives of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, the fishery management plan, and other applicable laws"--Cover letter; Portfolio comprised of three related PDF documents digitized and organized by: NOAA Office of Program Planning and Integration (PPI) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) staff.

First, a Pacific cod fishery endorsement would be added to license limitation program (LLP) licenses for fixed-gear in the directed Pacific cod fishery in the Gulf of Alaska (GOA). Second, Amendment 86 would exempt vessels using jig gear from the requirement to be assigned an LLP license. Third, Amendment 86 would modify the maximum length overall of some LLP licenses that are assigned a Pacific cod endorsement. Fourth, Amendment 86 would allow non-profit entities representing specific communities in the Central and Western GOA to request a limited number of nontransferrable Pacific cod endorsed LLP licenses. The Environmental Assessment provides decision makers and the public with an evaluation of the environmental, social, and economic effects of the proposed action"--Cover letter.

Book Final Environmental Assessment regulatory Impact Review initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis for Amendment 100 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and Amendment 91 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska

Download or read book Final Environmental Assessment regulatory Impact Review initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis for Amendment 100 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and Amendment 91 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska written by Melanie Brown and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Environmental Assessment/Regulatory Impact Review/Initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis analyzes alternatives to include three species of grenadiers (giant, Pacific, and popeye grenadiers) in the groundfish fishery management plans (FMPs). The groundfish fisheries in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands and the Gulf of Alaska incidentally catch grenadiers while harvesting target groundfish. This action would amend the FMPs for groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands and the Gulf of Alaska to include grenadiers in the FMPs as either "in the fishery" or an "ecosystem component." The purpose of this action is to improve the reporting and catch accounting of grenadiers in order to provide additional protection for grenadiers from the potential adverse effects of groundfish fisheries off Alaska. This proposed action is necessary to limit and monitor the incidental catch of grenadiers in the groundfish fisheries.

Book Environmental Assessment regulatory Impact Review final Regulatory Flexibility Analysis for a Proposed Regulatory Amendment to Implement the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands to Revise the Maximum Retainable Amounts of Groundfish in the Arrowtooth Flounder Fishery

Download or read book Environmental Assessment regulatory Impact Review final Regulatory Flexibility Analysis for a Proposed Regulatory Amendment to Implement the Fishery Management Plan for the Groundfish Fishery of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands to Revise the Maximum Retainable Amounts of Groundfish in the Arrowtooth Flounder Fishery written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 61 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Environmental Assessment/Regulatory Impact Review/Initial Regulatory Flexibility Analysis (EA/RIR/IRFA) evaluates the environmental impacts, costs and benefits, and small entity impacts of a proposed regulatory amendment to increase the maximum retainable amounts of selected groundfish in the arrowtooth flounder and Kamchatka flounder fishery in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands management area (BSAI). The purpose of the proposed amendment is to reduce the amount of regulatory discards of otherwise marketable groundfish in the developing arrowtooth and Kamchatka flounder fishery and to allow the Amendment 80 fleet to retain those regulatory discards thereby reducing waste. The proposed action also would revise regulations at 50 CFR part 679 to accommodate the North Pacific Fishery Management Council's removal of Kamchatka flounder from the arrowtooth flounder complex in the BSAI. This EA/RIR/IRFA addresses the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act, Presidential Executive Order 12866, and the Regulatory Flexibility Act.

This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This document analyzes the alternatives considered for Amendment 86 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and Amendment 76 to the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Gulf of Alaska. Amendments 86 and 76 restructure the funding and deployment system for observers in the North Pacific groundfish and halibut fisheries and include vessels less than 60 ft. in length and halibut vessels in the North Pacific Groundfish Observer Program, in compliance with the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act. This action addresses longstanding concerns about statistical bias of observer-collected data and cost inequality among fishery participants with the Observer Program's current funding and deployment structure. The analysis shows the proposed actions will not significantly impact the quality of the human environment. To the extent that better data to manage the groundfish and halibut fisheries will be available under the program, there could be a beneficial impact to the environment as a result of this action"--Cover letter; Portfolio comprised of three related PDF documents digitized and organized by: NOAA Office of Program Planning and Integration (PPI) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) staff.
