After thirty minutes industriously occupied in throwing my pursuers off my trail, I ventured out of concealment and gratefully made my way home. There on the field two of my dear old comrades were waiting for me to come in. What anxiety they would have suffered if they had known what I had just been through! "Hello, Rick! Why the devil didn't you wait for us? " Doug Campbell inquired, as I began to climb out of my machine. "We chased you all over France trying to catch up with you!" "Where did you go, Eddie, after we lost you in those clouds?" demanded Charley Chapman, looking at" me interestedly as he leaned against my suspended leg. "We've been home almost half an hour!" Here, it seemed were the two pilots -- American instead of B-oche -- who had been chasing me. I. thought very intently for a quarter of a second. Then I pushed Chapman away and descended from my machine. "I thought I remembered seeing a Boche back in Germany and went back to make sure," I replied easily. "But I guess I was mistaken." This book was released on 2014-08-15 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Illustrated with 22 photos of the Author, his unit and his life. The top American Fighter Ace of World War Two recounts his experiences, combats and victories in the skies above the Pacific. His citation for the Congressional Medal of Honour gives the bare unadorned facts about the eagle-eyed flyer from Sioux Falls, South Dakota; “For outstanding heroism and courage above and beyond the call of duty as executive officer of Marine Fighting Squadron 121, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, at Guadalcanal. Engaging in almost daily combat with the enemy from 9 October to 19 November 1942, Captain Foss personally shot down 23 Japanese planes and damaged others so severely that their destruction was extremely probable. In addition, during this period, he successfully led a large number of escort missions, skillfully covering reconnaissance, bombing, and photographic planes as well as surface craft. On 15 January 1943, he added 3 more enemy planes to his already brilliant successes for a record of aerial combat achievement unsurpassed in this war. Boldly searching out an approaching enemy force on 25 January, Captain Foss led his 8 F-4F Marine planes and 4 Army P-38’s into action and, undaunted by tremendously superior numbers, intercepted and struck with such force that 4 Japanese fighters were shot down and the bombers were turned back without releasing a single bomb. His remarkable flying skill, inspiring leadership, and indomitable fighting spirit were distinctive factors in the defense of strategic American positions on Guadalcanal.” One of the most thrilling combat memoirs written of World War Two. Highly recommended.

Those he selected contributed to the Allied cause in different and diverse ways - some joined the Foreign Legion, some the British Army, others supported the medical services or drove ambulances; still further more joined the French Army aviators and formed the famous Lafayette Escadrille.

Book excerpt: Includes Aerial Warfare During World War I Illustrations Pack with 115 maps, plans, and photos. The famous battle memoirs of the Red Baron. The Red Battle-Flyer, or Red Fighter Pilot, (German: Der Rote Kampfflieger) is a book written by Manfred von Richthofen, the most famous German fighter pilot ace. During his time over the Western Front he achieved eighty air combat victories, making him the top-scoring fighter pilot of the First World War. The book details some of Richthofen’s experiences during World War I. He finished the book in 1917 during a convalescence from wounds, and as it was written during the World War I, it was subjected to war-time censorship. He would fight on wreaking havoc among Allied airmen until 1918 when he was finally downed, the final vanquisher of the famous Red Baron is still disputed but seems that he met his end from ground fire.
