  • Pages : 181 pages

Download or read book A Path With A Heart written by Yvonne M. Dolan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-04 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1993. Historically, hypnotherapy has been assiduously avoided in the treatment of psychotics. One of the myths around this is that hypnosis is too all-powerful- that it can precipitate psychosis in patients with fragile egos. This myth was disproved by Milton Erickson, the master psychiatrist whose extensive work with hypnotherapy is the basis for Yvonne Dolan's work on the treatment of chronic patients. Erickson was the first practitioner to consistently demonstrate the efficacy of formal and informal hypnotherapy with schizophrenics, and now Dolan has advanced Erickson's naturalistic techniques with her practical and common sense techniques.

Book LSD Marihuana Yoga and Hypnosis

Download or read book LSD Marihuana Yoga and Hypnosis written by Theodore X. Barber and published by Transaction Publishers. This book was released on with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The practice of yoga, hypnosis, and the use of psychedelic drugs to alter psychological and physiological states is not unknown to the study of psychology. They have been called "soft" studies and labeled unimportant. This is mostly because they are difficult to study and understand, often focusing on unobservable internal states such as altered states of consciousness, Samadhi, or hypnotic states. This book, in its approach to thinking about this topic and method for analysis, focuses only on phenomena that can be observed, such as behavioral changes. By centering on only those aspects of the psychological and physiological effects of yoga, hypnosis, and psychedelic drugs which can be measured and analyzed using this new method, Barber distinguishes this book from others in the field. He asks what overt behaviors and verbal reports are clearly observable when psychedelic drugs are taken, yoga is practiced, or hypnotic-induction procedures are administered. Instead of treating the phenomena traditionally associated with psychedelic drugs, yoga, or hypnosis as undifferentiated conglomerates, an attempt will be made to set apart and treat separately each of the many phenomena associated with each of these areas of inquiry. This book does not set out to simply demonstrate the importance of psychedelics, yoga, and hypnosis, or to present substantive material pertaining to these topics. It also treats each topic as continuous with other known psychological phenomena and as an important piece to the puzzle of social psychology. It differs from most previous treatises in that it does not assume that psychedelics, yoga, and hypnosis can bring out unused mental or physical capacities in man, heighten awareness or give rise to enhanced creativity, or produce altered states of consciousness, suspension of conventional reality-orientation, changes in body-image, or changes in perception.

Book Footprints of Wellbeing

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘Footprints of Wellbeing’ is a simple, brief and easy to access book, offered for those who resist going for any long term therapeutic intervention for self-growth and resolving various mental health issues. It is an idea book of self-growth, not only for the students of Psychology and academicians but for people at large. ‘Footprints of Wellbeing’ is an attempt to re-engineer the hardwiring of fixed thought patterns, training the CPU to process life ‘as it is’ rather as ‘one wishes it to be’ or ‘as it should be’. It helps you to step out of the mind into the reality of the present moment, facilitating you to take charge of life, providing an insight into the effective healthy choices you have for spring cleaning of the mental life and changing gears, creating memory bank of positive happy memories and experiencing life in the moment and above all valuing self. While walking, people are generally focused on the destination, however, walking to and fro within self mindfully, you are with each step just like your breath: your life force energy which stays with you. Be aware of your footsteps and each step would leave a footprint of the experience of the moment – fully lived.

Book Bouquets with Personality

Download or read book Bouquets with Personality written by Lucinda Rooney and published by Abrams. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some flowers are team players, content to let their gently expressive hues and textures take a supporting role in an arrangement or bouquet. Others have a domineering, outgoing nature and always insist on being the center of attention. Recognizing flowers’ differing personalities—and blending the meek and the bold together in unusual, romantic, and harmonious ways—is at the heart of Lucinda Rooney’s floral philosophy. In Bouquets with Personality, Rooney divulges her secrets: the materials and tools she’s most fond of using, her design influences, her theory of color, and, most important, her insightful “psychology” of the botanical realm. It’s that in-depth understanding of how flowers and plants convey emotion that makes this book such an informative and inspirational resource for beginning flower-arrangers, seasoned professionals, and anyone who just loves flowers. The pages are graced, throughout, by Mick Hales’ lovely photos of both individual flowers and completed bouquets.

Book Feeling Dis ease in Modern History

Download or read book Feeling Dis ease in Modern History written by Rob Boddice and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2022-05-05 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores experiences of illness, broadly construed. It encompasses the emotional and sensory disruptions that attend disease, injury, mental illness or trauma, and gives an account of how medical practitioners, experts, lay authorities and the public have felt about such disruptions. Considering all sides of the medical encounter and highlighting the intersection of intellectual history and medical knowledge, of institutional atmospheres, built environments and technological practicalities, and of emotional and sensory experience, Feeling Dis-ease in Modern History presents a wide-ranging affective account of feeling well and of feeling ill. Especially occupied with the ways in which dynamics of power and authority have either validated or discounted dis-eased feelings, the book's contributors probe at the intersectional politics of medical expertise and patient experience to better understand situated expressions of illness, their reception, and their social, cultural and moral valuation. Drawing on methodologies from the histories of emotions, senses, science and the medical humanities, this book gives an account of the complexity of undergoing illness: of feeling dis-ease.
