Book Commit to Feel Good

Download or read book Commit to Feel Good written by Josie Coco and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-06-20 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Right from the get-go I was never going to believe that we were not meant to be happy! At just 15 years of age the thought of spending the rest of my life in misery because we werent put on this earth to be happy was a thought too frightening to conceive. As I projected this sentiment forward and imagined the long years ahead, then and there I made the commitment that I was going to find the pathway to happiness: that I would live a joyful life. By the time I had reached my middle years this commitment had become an obsession. During this lifetime, I would find the keys to happiness. Whatever it took, joy was my goal and I wouldnt rest until I found it. With glimpses of happiness along the way, I was motivated and driven. Love yourself first! What does that mean? How do you do that? There were lots of great suggestions but very few helpful guidelines. Entrenched in a middle-income mindset I held many limiting beliefs that kept me squarely where I was. But for an enquiring mind and a fearless heart that had almost lost its desire to fight on, I may have drowned in the mire of unworthiness. Little by little the pieces of the puzzle came together. My journey took me to explore both inside and out: what others had to offer and the filters through which I was living my life. A woman on a mission, I wouldnt let it go until I had discovered the answers. Joy! We are meant to be joyful. We are meant to be happy.

Download or read book Deep Fitness written by Philip Shepherd and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2021-10-12 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research shows that increasing your muscle strength is the single most important thing you can do for your physical and mental health. This book shows you how--in just 30 minutes a day, once or twice a week--using the science-backed MSTF method. The mixed messages we’ve received about exercise, aerobics, and mental and physical fitness are all misleading...or at least incomplete. Clinical research shows that we lose muscle mass as we age, and that preventing muscle loss through strength training--more than cardio, stretching, or flexibility--is the key to staying active, healthy, and well. Deep Fitness introduces a proven, new approach to building strength and whole-body health: Mindful Strength Training to Failure (MSTF). This science-based method reverses muscle loss and improves overall strength in just one or two 30-minute sessions a week. MSTF exercises are simple and effective, and can be done at home with resistance bands and bodyweight, or with the machines at your local gym. Using slow reps, MSTF marries mindful body awareness with proven strength-training techniques to help you become stronger at any age. With more than 30 full-color exercises, Deep Fitness explains the science behind MSTF. It shows how the program boosts longevity and healthspan; aids weight loss and fat reduction; increases overall wellness and mental health; and can improve or reverse symptoms of: • Prediabetes and diabetes • Cardiovascular disease • Metabolic syndrome • Alzheimer’s and dementia • Chronic inflammation • Osteoporosis • Other chronic illnesses Appropriate for people of all ages and activity levels, the exercises and techniques in Deep Fitness are effective, straightforward, and sustainable, helping you enjoy the vibrant, fit, whole-body health you deserve.

Book LeBron s Dream Team

Download or read book LeBron s Dream Team written by LeBron James and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2010-04-27 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inspiration for the Peacock Original Movie "Shooting Stars" "A book that will incredibly move and inspire you.” —Jay-Z "An entertaining, well-written reminder that even if he seems to have been around forever, James didn’t go directly from the nursery to the NBA.” —Sports Illustrated The "dream team" was a bunch of kids from Akron, Ohio - LeBron James and his best friends - who first met on a youth basketball team of the same name when they were ten and eleven years old. United by their love of the game and their yearning for companionship, they quickly forged a bond which would carry them through thick and thin (a lot of thin) and, at last, to the brink of a national championship. They were a motley group who faced challenges all too typical of inner-city America. LeBron grew up without a father and had moved with his mother more than a dozen times by the age of 10. Willie McGee, the quiet one, had left both his parents behind in Chicago to be raised by his older brother in Akron. Dru Joyce was outspoken, and his dad, who was ever-present, would end up coaching all five of the boys in high school. Sian Cotton, who also played football, was the happy-go-lucky enforcer, while Romeo Travis was unhappy, bitter, even surly, until he finally opened himself up to the bond his team mates offered. In the summer after seventh grade, the "dream team" tasted glory when they qualified for a national championship tournament in Memphis. But they lost their focus, and had to go home early. They promised each other they would stay together and do whatever it took to win a national title. They had no idea how hard it would be to pursue that promise. In the years that followed, they would endure jealousy, hostility, exploitation, resentment from the black community (because they went to a "white" high school), and the consequence of their own over-confidence. Not least, they would all have to wrestle with LeBron's outsize success, which brought too much attention and even a whiff of scandal their way. But together these five boys became men as they sought a national championship.
