Book A Quiet Strength

Download or read book A Quiet Strength written by Trudy Cathy White and published by Forefront Books. This book was released on 2020-03-10 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While S. Truett Cathy was building Chick-fil-A, Jeannette M. Cathy was nurturing a family and together with their faith, they built an empire based on biblical principles. Chick-fil-A has become a national phenomenon over the past fifty years, forever changing the fast food industry in terms of food quality and customer service. Much has been written about Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy over the years, but the true, behind-the-scenes story of the Cathy family has never been told . . . until now. In A Quiet Strength, Truett’s daughter, Trudy Cathy White, tells the story of the real heart and soul of the Cathy family: her mother, Jeannette M. Cathy. This heartwarming memoir presents Trudy’s first-hand look at her mother’s amazing life, including growing up during the Great Depression with a struggling single mother, being crowned the best dancer in Atlanta at age six, singing in church revivals all across Georgia at age eight, breaking tradition by attending both college and seminary as a woman in the 1940s, and helping found the most influential and fastest-growing restaurant chain in the country. Trudy also shares Jeannette’s often-unbelievable misadventures raising three children on the Cathy farm—from beekeeping fiascos to regularly chasing a pony, a parrot, and a monkey around her living room! Throughout her incredible ninety-two years, Jeannette M. Cathy was an accomplished singer, dancer, musician, painter, theologian, farmhand, and self-taught repairman. Her most important roles, though, were the ones a precious few ever saw: that of a wife, mother, and grandmother. As S. Truett Cathy often said, “Jeannette can do and has done anything and everything. All I ever did was put a piece of chicken between a buttered bun!” Join Trudy Cathy White on a tour through the life of the surprising, enterprising, and downright hilarious grandmother you never knew you needed!

I am happy to share my experience growing up on the plains of South Dakota, completing grade school in a one-room school, surviving blizzards, including getting lost in our yard. I have virtually all positive memories, for example I remember being in severe pain, but I don't remember the pain. I can look back and see points where a different decision by me would have changed my life, but not necessarily better for me. Achieving the highest enlisted grade in the Air Force is in ways the culmination of my military career. This career included service as an electronics technician, combat crew member, military training instructor, and scheduler for aircrews, missile crews, and administrative airlift missions within 5th Air Force, and aircraft operations management. I followed the tradition of my late brother Robert in serving a hitch in the military, 3 years for Robert and 30 years for me and then graduating from college. Of course life went on after the Air Force and I have included pictures throughout the time of my story to help you understand my story.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As we have all come into a physical body from who knows where... From Beyond Nothing. A study of Human History clearly shows how the documentation the masses look to was contrived by the Political System, who invented the pinnacle of religion for the sole purpose of control from all angles. It is true, there have so many who have had what has been termed as 'spiritual' experiences, which actually have nothing to do with the political formulation of religion. It has been so that the Religious Orders have actually used the experiences of others and claimed them as their own, to then 'sell' to the public 'their' version of what they have decided what took place and how it should be defined according to 'them.' All of this is right in front of everyone, yet most people still look to the Ruling Systems as those to be 'in the know.' I am for the free choice of everyone, and so each person knows their own mind and life and their own free will. www.DuaneTheGreatWriter.Info

Book Braving Time

Download or read book Braving Time written by Bonnie L. Collins and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2012-08-13 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Braving Time is a vividly frank, absorbing account of a teenager on the edge of womanhood as she faces loss of her loved ones through death, mental illness, and physical displacement, and how it challenged her feeling of being held safe and connected to those she held dear in the world. This memoir expresses a universal theme of how we, as humans, internalize such losses, desperately wanting to find someone to fill the gapsomeone to love us deeply, unconditionally; to lead us out of the dark night. We do not see that these lessons are here for us to learn to live authentically, self-reliantly, and with integrity. The elixir will be when we can trust in ourselves to take good care of our own self (our inner child), to rediscover who we truly are in our own right, and then to revive our essential self. This brings us into healthy connection/belongingness with others, and toward wholeness. This is not a story of wholenessthat would wait for another time. Rather, this is a story of resilience.

Book excerpt: My name is Erak Domolin, and I live on an earth colony planet, named New Terra in the Milky Way Galaxy. I was born into a family of witches. I have an Uncle John who runs a space cargo business. He has an Indian as a copilot, his name is Blind Owl. He is American Lakota Indian. John's ship is three hundred feet long and one hundred feet wide, with the control wings near the back. They curve down and out so as to look like wings. It has feathers painted on the wings, so it looks like a hawk. I stay with Blind Owl's family, sometimes, and as such, I learned a great deal about the Indian religion, and their way of looking at life and the world. We rescued a girl known as a Fay, from pirates. The Fay can do magic, to some degree, read minds, as well as talk to animals. They can make space ships go at incredible speeds. Kayla taught me a lot about life on the runs with Uncle John in outer space. Pirates are a constant trouble in space, and we are not exempt in that regards.

She had no plans to grow complacent and cold in her pursuit of justice for the children she served through her position as a social service worker. Ana held the sands of time in the palm of her hand, and she planned to clear the path for the broken children she swore to protect. Her gift would be their salvation. However, mankind had a different plan. Greed, cruelty, and lust for power led them to their own destruction. The once-free people were now confined by the immortals, who had to step in to save them from themselves. The immortals constructed great farms to house the elite few, handpicked to carry on the human race. Time erased all memories of freedom for the humans. All that remained was a sense of duty to the immortals. This unnatural environment was the last place Ana thought she would find her soul mate, yet she did. Marked with a number and a sense of obligation, James did as he was told and provided sustenance for the immortals. He knew nothing of the world outside the boundaries of the farm. His Ana was the only link to the outside world, and he loved the freedom her stories brought him. Many adventures filled the long life of Ana and her family and friends, but nothing could have prepared her for the future fate had in store for her. Book Stegomyia

Download or read book Stegomyia written by William Kunle Adeniyi and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2019-08-08 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Growing up in a small village in Nigeria, William Adeniyi knew that his opportunities in life would be limited unless he was relentless in his pursuit of education. The death of his father left William, his sister, and their mother in financial straits. Despite that, William’s mother was dedicated to her children’s schooling…until she too died, leaving William an orphan at a crucial juncture of his life. Stegomyia is the story of how William overcame seemingly insurmountable personal and financial challenges to graduate from Titcombe College, the prestigious high school run by Canadians and Americans of the Sudan Interior Mission, and his subsequent academic career in America as a student and then as a professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. From the perils of Nigeria’s political bloodbath to the frustrations of immigration to America, from bullies in elementary school to racist colleagues in the US, from despair when everything was taken from him to dawning hope thanks to helping hands from people who believed in William’s future, this memoir is a compelling chronicle of a life lived in defiance of the odds. A clear-eyed, honest assessment of what it means to embrace the American Dream, Stegomyia is both inspirational and cautionary, an epic true story of determination and hard work.
