Book excerpt: F.E.A.R. is an inspirational, true story that serves as an instant motivator for anyone out there that has gone through trials and tribulations in life. Nothing is ever as bad as it seems, but it's the paralyzing FEAR that difficult circumstances in life continually produce in our minds that cause us to go to pieces when faced with extreme adversities. The mental, emotional and spiritual effects can be catastrophic or sometimes even fatal. This book was designed to help the millions of people world-wide that are currently going through something very difficult in life such as physical health issues, mental illness, financial problems, anxiety, addiction, heartbreak, failed relationships, parenting obstacles, death of a loved one, self-esteem trouble, spiritual warfare, mental/emotional trauma and much more. Each of these things have one thing in common; they thrive and survive on our FEAR. The main character, Brittney Carr, faced nearly ALL these issues at one point in her life and although triumphant in the end, there was a point in time in which LIFE unfortunately took an extremely negative & life-threatening toll on her physically, spiritually and emotionally causing her to attempt suicide 4 times in just 6 months. Her children were unlawfully snatched from her custody, she lost everything in Hurricane Harvey, sudden chronic anxiety handicapped her to the point of not being able to leave the house, she lost 100% of her eyesight and the list goes on. Brittney is a Christian and firm believer in God whose faith was tested through FEAR time after time again until she discovered that FEAR is nothing more than "False Evidence Appearing Real". The problem is that FEAR is all around us and we will never escape it. If we don't learn to conquer it by properly dealing with it, we eventually lose this ongoing mental battle. It's not what we go through, it's our perspective on life's events and our reaction to them that determines the reality of our fate especially when FEAR is a factor. As she dealt with tragedy left and right watching her world crumble right before her eyes, she learned she had ONLY two choices when faced with FEAR. Choose the negative way out which would be to "Forget Everything and Run" or be a brave and faithful child of God and "Face Everything and Recover". She learns that even though FEAR caused her to stop believing in God temporarily at one point, God never stopped believing in her. After having a spiritual awakening amidst her many tests in life, today she remains a faithful follower of Christ. Brittney and her husband now run a ministry geared towards helping those that are spiritually lost and suffering. Everyone deals with FEAR. Most of us deal with it daily in a very unhealthy way. Her story shows God's miracle-power in action as she beats all odds & learns that the secret to conquering FEAR once and for all is through FAITH. Serving as a true, living testimony to others around the world, she discovers that FEAR is the opposite of FAITH and that FEAR cannot exist in the presence of FAITH. Therefore, true unwavering FAITH in God conquers ALL!

Book Cultivate Courage Face Fear Fulfill Dreams

Download or read book Cultivate Courage Face Fear Fulfill Dreams written by Dave Cornell and published by Smiling Dog Design. This book was released on 2018-08-27 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Courage is a word that is often reserved for soldiers or police officers or firefighters. Yet, nearly every day, in both our personal and professional lives we have the opportunity to face our fears and do something courageous. Whether it be standing up as the lone voice of dissent in a meeting or talking with your neighbor about the deposits his dog leaves on your lawn, the opportunity for courage is often there. "Cultivate Courage" is an inspirational look at how fear and courage impact us in our lives more often than we realize or care to admit. Often, we default to fear because it is the easy way out. Acknowledging our fear is the first step to leading a life of courage. Acknowledging our fear is the first step in reaching our goals and dreams. Acknowledging our fear is the first step to becoming courageous. Steps 2 and 3 to leading your life with more courage are also outlined in the book. Each step is simple and actionable immediately. This isn't a book about becoming fearless. Rather, it's a book about facing your fears head on. It's about you being in control of your fears rather than your fears being in control of you. If you're tired of being a spectator in the game of life then this book will help you to cultivate the courage you need to be your best self. Lao Tzu, the Chinese philosopher said many years ago, "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Are you ready to step out of your fear and into your courage?

Book Improving Diagnosis in Health Care

Download or read book Improving Diagnosis in Health Care written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2015-12-29 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Getting the right diagnosis is a key aspect of health care - it provides an explanation of a patient's health problem and informs subsequent health care decisions. The diagnostic process is a complex, collaborative activity that involves clinical reasoning and information gathering to determine a patient's health problem. According to Improving Diagnosis in Health Care, diagnostic errors-inaccurate or delayed diagnoses-persist throughout all settings of care and continue to harm an unacceptable number of patients. It is likely that most people will experience at least one diagnostic error in their lifetime, sometimes with devastating consequences. Diagnostic errors may cause harm to patients by preventing or delaying appropriate treatment, providing unnecessary or harmful treatment, or resulting in psychological or financial repercussions. The committee concluded that improving the diagnostic process is not only possible, but also represents a moral, professional, and public health imperative. Improving Diagnosis in Health Care, a continuation of the landmark Institute of Medicine reports To Err Is Human (2000) and Crossing the Quality Chasm (2001), finds that diagnosis-and, in particular, the occurrence of diagnostic errorsâ€"has been largely unappreciated in efforts to improve the quality and safety of health care. Without a dedicated focus on improving diagnosis, diagnostic errors will likely worsen as the delivery of health care and the diagnostic process continue to increase in complexity. Just as the diagnostic process is a collaborative activity, improving diagnosis will require collaboration and a widespread commitment to change among health care professionals, health care organizations, patients and their families, researchers, and policy makers. The recommendations of Improving Diagnosis in Health Care contribute to the growing momentum for change in this crucial area of health care quality and safety.

Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • LOOK FOR THE NETFLIX ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY SERIES • “Both an American tragedy and [Grisham’s] strongest legal thriller yet, all the more gripping because it happens to be true.”—Entertainment Weekly John Grisham’s first work of nonfiction: a true crime masterpiece that tells the story of small town justice gone terribly awry. In the Major League draft of 1971, the first player chosen from the state of Oklahoma was Ron Williamson. When he signed with the Oakland A’s, he said goodbye to his hometown of Ada and left to pursue his dreams of big league glory. Six years later he was back, his dreams broken by a bad arm and bad habits. He began to show signs of mental illness. Unable to keep a job, he moved in with his mother and slept twenty hours a day on her sofa. In 1982, a twenty-one-year-old cocktail waitress in Ada named Debra Sue Carter was raped and murdered, and for five years the police could not solve the crime. For reasons that were never clear, they suspected Ron Williamson and his friend Dennis Fritz. The two were finally arrested in 1987 and charged with capital murder. With no physical evidence, the prosecution’s case was built on junk science and the testimony of jailhouse snitches and convicts. Dennis Fritz was found guilty and given a life sentence. Ron Williamson was sent to death row. If you believe that in America you are innocent until proven guilty, this book will shock you. If you believe in the death penalty, this book will disturb you. If you believe the criminal justice system is fair, this book will infuriate you. Don’t miss Framed, John Grisham’s first work of nonfiction since The Innocent Man, co-authored with Centurion Ministries founder Jim McCloskey.

Book Pain Management and the Opioid Epidemic

This book was released on 2017-09-28 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drug overdose, driven largely by overdose related to the use of opioids, is now the leading cause of unintentional injury death in the United States. The ongoing opioid crisis lies at the intersection of two public health challenges: reducing the burden of suffering from pain and containing the rising toll of the harms that can arise from the use of opioid medications. Chronic pain and opioid use disorder both represent complex human conditions affecting millions of Americans and causing untold disability and loss of function. In the context of the growing opioid problem, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) launched an Opioids Action Plan in early 2016. As part of this plan, the FDA asked the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to convene a committee to update the state of the science on pain research, care, and education and to identify actions the FDA and others can take to respond to the opioid epidemic, with a particular focus on informing FDA's development of a formal method for incorporating individual and societal considerations into its risk-benefit framework for opioid approval and monitoring.
