Book excerpt: So you've accepted Christ and professed that He is your Lord and Savior. Now what? In this inspiring new book, Rebecca Murzin shows readers that profession of Jesus Christ as Lord is only the first step in a Christian's journey. There is so much more. To begin, to believe in the Lord means to follow him and be obedient to his Word. Many Christians today have fallen away from the Word of God and do not read the Bible for themselves. How can you know God's will if you don't search it out, study it, and meditate upon it? After studying God's Word, it's important to watch what you say; it must align with the Word of God. Religion is in vain if we don't watch what we say. Murzin shows readers they not only must be careful of what they say, but they must watch what they do. While we are not saved by works but by faith, it is faith that drives us to do the works Christ has called us to do. We as Christians have to remember we are not supposed to be doing things the way everyone else in the world does it, and Faith Takes Action will show readers how to do things to successfully walk the Christian's path. Faith Takes Action is a well-done challenge for Christians to fulfill their callings and continue in the will of God. Pastor John and Fran Newman, Higher Ground Ministries Rebecca Murzin lives in Barnstead, New Hampshire, with her husband and three children. Together, they're working on building the Fruit of Life Ministries Christian Retreat Center.

Book F A I T H

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ed Pittman
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2019-04-04
  • ISBN : 1644580985
  • Pages : 133 pages

Download or read book F A I T H written by Ed Pittman and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-04-04 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During Ed's study of the book of Daniel, there were four chapters that were different from the other chapters. Chapter 3 related to Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego, and chapter 6 was about Daniel. In his study, it became clear that Daniel and his three friends were special in God's eye. These four individuals, after being taken from Jerusalem to Babylon, were given special treatment from their captors. They were also miraculously saved from horrible deaths and, in the case of Daniel, elevated to a position of high authority in the Babylonian government. What was it about these four individuals that made them special to God? They weren't royalty or heroes; they hadn't won any battles. In fact, they were just teenagers when they were taken captive. What set them apart from the others was their willingness to defy the orders of the Babylonian rulers when those orders conflicted with their relationship with God. As Ed continued his study of Daniel, he was continuously drawn back to these two chapters until he realized the chapters were not so much about Daniel and his friends, as it was about their relationship with and their faith in God. This raised a lot of questions for him. He wanted to know what the basis for their special relationship with God was. He wanted to know what made their faith special to God and what was it about their faith that was different from his faith. He wanted to know why God answered their prayers and seemed to not answer the prayers of so many people he knows, as well as many of his own. He also wondered why these chapters on faith were included in a book that was primarily a prophetic book. Searching for answers to these questions, Ed quickly realized he didn't know what God had to say about faith or why faith is important to Him. The next question was, if he didn't know what God had to say about faith, what kind of faith did he have? Did he have the faith to accept Christ as his LORD and Savior? The answer was yes, but what else? Also, where does he go with his faith from here? And finally, how does he get the faith of Daniel and his friends? These questions and more started Ed's study of faith which ultimately led him to write this book.

Book What Is Saving Faith

Download or read book What Is Saving Faith written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bestselling Author and Pastor John Piper Reflects on the Relationship between Treasuring Christ and Saving Faith What happens in the heart when it experiences real saving faith? John Piper argues that faith in Christ is not saving unless it includes an "affectional dimension of treasuring Christ." Nor is God glorified as he ought to be unless he is treasured in being trusted. Saving faith in Jesus Christ welcomes him forever as our supreme and inexhaustible pleasure. What Is Saving Faith? explains that a Savior who is treasured for his all-satisfying worth is more glorified than a Savior who is only trusted for his all-forgiving competence. In this way, saving faith reaches its God-appointed goal: the perfections of Christ glorified by our being satisfied in him forever. Written by Best-Selling Author and Pastor John Piper: Explores a critical and misunderstood element of the Christian faith, urging believers to ask the unsettling question, Do I have saving faith? Theologically Robust: Studies respected theologians' work regarding salvation, including John Calvin, Jonathan Edwards, Henry Scougal, John Owen, Wayne Grudem, and J. I. Packer Accessible: Written for students, nominal or thoughtful Christians, and church leaders of all levels, as well as anyone interested in the nature of faith and the essential relationship between faith and feeling

Book Why Science and Faith Belong Together

Download or read book Why Science and Faith Belong Together written by Malcolm A. Jeeves and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2021-02-25 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As we try to understand ourselves and the world we live in, all too often we look first to science--and then, if gaps remain in our understanding, we try to fill the gaps with reference to God and our faith. Such a "god-of-the-gaps" approach has a long history and is sadly alive and well today. This book was written to provide an alternative approach, posing this basic question: How can educated Christians maintain their intellectual honesty and, at the same time, be faithful both to Scripture and to science? This book provides examples of some of the liveliest "science vs. faith" issues today and suggests ways to think constructively about each of them.
