Book Faith and the Marketplace

Download or read book Faith and the Marketplace written by Bill Winston and published by . This book was released on 2016-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith and the Marketplace is a life-transforming book on the supernatural business of the kingdom of God, and a kingdom leadership playbook that promises to catapult you to the next level of your career, profession, business, or ministry. You will learn how to build your faith in God and understand His perfect plan for your life. Your faith was never meant to be separated from your work or business life. Bill Winston meticulously details throughout this book how the two work together. In God's kingdom, you are either a king or a priest. Kings are marketplace ministers who serve in government, business, education, media, the family, and arts and entertainment. Priests are those who serve as an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor, or teacher, or what is commonly referred to as the five-fold ministry. Through a multitude of scriptures, his own life story, and the engaging stories of others, Bill Winston explains why God is calling for the restoration of the unbeatable team of kings and priests to bring faith back into the marketplace, and to advance His kingdom around the world. Bill Winston has served as both a king (in the military and business world) and now a priest, and has been graced by God to reach this topic of faith and the marketplace like no one else.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people think that free-market ideas and theories were first substanially developed in the eighteenth century by figures such as Adam Smith. In this revised edition of Faith and Liberty, Alejandro A. Chafuen illustrates this misconception by examining the sixteenth and seventeenth century writings of a group of Catholic theologians and philosophers. The Late- Scholastics, as they are called, were the first to engage in a systematic moral analysis of the ethical issues associated with trade and commerce. In doing so, they arrived at solutions that are in many senses indistinguishable from the ideas of many modern free market commentators. In this revised ediiton, Chafuen blosters his case by including recent and pertinent material which gives rise to new questions and concerns. Reading this book will force to consider what they understand to be an authentiaclly Christian approach to economic questions.

Out of that ministry's success comes God in the Marketplace, a book to help everyone from the front desk to the executive suite best experience God's will in his or her work. Blackaby believes that just as Jesus had businessmen among His original disciples, so may God be calling out businesspeople today in preparation for a worldwide spiritual revival. However, while those in the marketplace may have excellent educations and access to world-class leadership seminars, they often feel inadequate in matters of spiritual influence. God in the Marketplace will help them better understand what the Bible says about integrating their Christian faith with their work lives and provide biblical answers to the common yet difficult questions that are often raised for Christians at work.

Book Ever Increasing Faith Sea Harp Timeless series

This book was released on 2022-09-20 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Oh, if you would only believe God! What would happen?" Miracles were central to the ministry of Jesus and the beginnings of the early church. Yet, for many Christians today, the outrageous provision and promises of God feel like a thing of the past. Ever Increasing Faith is a collection of Smith Wigglesworth's sermons that demonstrate all that is possible through belief, with descriptive and inspiring firsthand accounts of healings, deliverances and breathtaking miracles. Wigglesworth's ministry and life were rooted in the unwavering belief that God heals the sick, sets the captives free, and redeems the brokenhearted—during Jesus’ time and now. A plumber-turned-evangelical-preacher, Smith Wigglesworth (1859-1957) had a radical encounter with the healing power of God. One of the pioneers of the Pentecostal revival, Wigglesworth traveled the world preaching the Gospel and healing the sick. Through his ministry, thousands were saved, hundreds were healed, and 14 people were raised from the dead. Known as the “Apostle of Faith”, Wigglesworth's formula was simple: “First, read the Word of God. Second, consume the Word of God until it consumes you. Third, believe the Word of God. Fourth, act on the Word.” In this compilation of sermon transcriptions, the reader will find: Firsthand accounts of miracles and healings Reflections on God’s goodness and power A faith-filled voice that passionately loved God A challenge to live a life led by the Spirit Assurance that a life of ever increasing faith is possible for all Ever Increasing Faith invites the reader on an incredible adventure to trust in God’s power to heal and to live a life guided by the passion, creativity and love of the Holy Spirit.

Book The Illusion of Free Markets

Download or read book The Illusion of Free Markets written by Bernard E. Harcourt and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is widely believed today that the free market is the best mechanism ever invented to efficiently allocate resources in society. Just as fundamental as faith in the free market is the belief that government has a legitimate and competent role in policing and the punishment arena. This curious incendiary combination of free market efficiency and the Big Brother state has become seemingly obvious, but it hinges on the illusion of a supposedly natural order in the economic realm. The Illusion of Free Markets argues that our faith in “free markets” has severely distorted American politics and punishment practices. Bernard Harcourt traces the birth of the idea of natural order to eighteenth-century economic thought and reveals its gradual evolution through the Chicago School of economics and ultimately into today’s myth of the free market. The modern category of “liberty” emerged in reaction to an earlier, integrated vision of punishment and public economy, known in the eighteenth century as “police.” This development shaped the dominant belief today that competitive markets are inherently efficient and should be sharply demarcated from a government-run penal sphere. This modern vision rests on a simple but devastating illusion. Superimposing the political categories of “freedom” or “discipline” on forms of market organization has the unfortunate effect of obscuring rather than enlightening. It obscures by making both the free market and the prison system seem natural and necessary. In the process, it facilitated the birth of the penitentiary system in the nineteenth century and its ultimate culmination into mass incarceration today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is capitalism Christian? Is there a Christian perspective on business? How should a Christian use power in the workplace? In addressing such difficult questions as these, Business Through the Eyes of Faith demonstrates how God can dwell at the center of one's life even in the secular marketplace. Here is pragmatic affirmation of the role that committed Christians can play in the business world. The authors stress the connections between Christian principles and good management and provide biblical passages that support their principles and relate them to the practical issues faced by Christian managers. Issues such as employee motivation, workplace communication, business leadership, the role of profit, and social responsibility are all addressed in concrete terms and reinforced by short vignettes, suggested biblical passages to explore, and commentaries from contemporary theorists and practitioners. Business Through the Eyes of Faith shows that business can and should be a reflection of God's kingdom. It is an invaluable resource for Christian business students, managers, and those who wish to understand the concerns and motives of Christians in the business world.

Book Business for the Common Good

Download or read book Business for the Common Good written by Kenman L. Wong and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2011-01-28 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is business just a way to make money? Or can the marketplace a venue for service to others? Scott B. Rae and Kenman L. Wong seek to explore this and other critical business issues from a uniquely Christian perspective, offering up a vision for work and service that is theologically grounded and practically oriented. Among the specific questions they address along the way are these: What implications does the Christian story have for the vision, mission or sense of purpose that shapes business engagement? What parts of business can be affirmed and practiced "as is" and what parts need to be rejected or transformed? What challenges exist as attempts are made to live out Christian ideals in a broken world characterized by tight margins, fierce competition and short-term investor pressures? How do Christian values inform specific functional areas of business such as the management of people, marketing and environmental sustainability? Business can be even more than an environment through which individual Christians grow in Christlikeness. In this book you'll discover how it can also be a means toward serving the common good. The Christian Worldview Integration Series, edited by J. P. Moreland and Francis J. Beckwith, seeks to promote a robust personal and conceptual integration of Christian faith and learning, with textbooks focused on disciplines such as education, psychology, literature, politics, science, communications, biology, philosophy, and history.
