Book Faith Forgiveness Fibromyalgia

Download or read book Faith Forgiveness Fibromyalgia written by Nance Fabretti and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-03-09 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The one who wars against our soul has been working to destroy the family unit since Genesis. In fact, Genesis is a great book to read to see family dysfunction up close and personal. I have learned a great deal from Genesis regarding people's tendencies, poor choices, and how God responds. God is incredibly forgiving; however, He does not excuse us from the ramifications of our choices, good or bad. We all come with some sort of baggage. We need the One who created the universe, who breathed life into us, who knit us together in our mothers' wombs, who taught us wisdom in that secret place, and who knows each one of us intimately to affirm His love for us. We all desire to belong and to be loved. I built large walls around my heart to protect it from pain and disappointment, and I learned to take care of myself and to count only on myself. But that is not where my story ends... You see, "The God who sees me" Genesis 16:13 was watching, drawing, loving, caring and protecting. His loving kindness was pulling me in, for it is "His kindness that leads us to repentance" (Romans 2:4). The God of all hope began to fill me with joy and peace as I trusted in Him, and I began to overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. This woman who now writes to bring hope to others has been made new. I am alive in Christ! I am no longer defined by the words depressed, angry, hurt, unwanted, or unloved. I am now called chosen, wanted, beloved, child of the King. God's grace and love saw me, called me and, upon my response to Him, began a work that He will see through to completion. I no longer wander in the darkness, for I have seen a great light. I am no longer independent, but interdependent, "for we are all Living Stones fitted jointly together" (1 Peter 2:5). I have been healed from fibromyalgia. I have been healed from anger and depression through forgiveness. I am now defined by the words written on the pages of the Bible, and I hide them in my heart. I am now compelled to share the love and hope that is available to every single person who still has breath in him (or her). "Because of His great love for us, God who is rich in mercy made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions" (Ephesians 2:4). "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called children of God and that is what we are!" (1 John 3:1). This is my story.

Book excerpt: Where do you turn when pain doesnt diminish, and turns into a constant companion? What does it look like to lean on the Lord for strength when every day is a struggle? In A Reluctant Journey, Kristen Grathwol shares her past and present battles with the chronic pain of fibromyalgia. Weaving personal experience with reflections on Scripture, A Reluctant Journey shows how the cycle of chronic pain can lead to a spiritual cycle of trust and praise. In journal entries that lay bare the doubts and difficulties of chronic pain, along with the joy that comes from surrendering to the One who knows our deepest hurt, A Reluctant Journey explores five facets of this theme: trusting God, surrendering control, praising God in the midst of suffering, learning how to rest and grieve, and seeking community. When we trust God, we are freed from our desire to control, even to the point of embracing our trials. Even when God chooses not to change our circumstances, surrender brings joy and moves us to praise Him for His goodness and His plan in our lives. Yet God also knows our grief and wants us to bring Him our sorrows as well. Seeking God rescues us from the isolating power of pain and restores us to community. Starting this cycle is not a once-and-for-all decision, but a daily choice. An encouragement to those struggling with long-term trials, A Reluctant Journey offers a scriptural message of hope and healing for pain both physical and emotional.

Book Motorhome Prophecies

Download or read book Motorhome Prophecies written by Carrie Sheffield and published by Center Street. This book was released on 2024-03-12 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the vein of Educated and Hillbilly Elegy comes a young woman’s memoir chronicling her harrowing journey from despair to salvation that showcases the depths and resilience of the human spirit and empowers readers on their own paths toward healing, forgiveness, and redemption. Carrie Sheffield grew up fifth of eight children with a violent, mentally ill, street-musician father who believed he was a modern-day Mormon prophet destined to become U.S. president someday. She and her seven siblings were often forced to live as vagabonds, remaining on the move across the country. They frequently subsisted in sheds, tents, and, most notably, motorhomes. They often lived a dysfunctional drifter existence, camping out in their motorhome in Walmart parking lots. Carrie attended 17 public schools and homeschool, all while performing classical music on the streets and passing out fire-and-brimstone religious pamphlets—at times while child custody workers loomed. Carrie’s father was eventually excommunicated from the official LDS Church, and she was the first of her siblings to escape the toxic brainwashing of his fundamentalist creed. Declared legally estranged from her parents, Carrie struggled with her mental health during college and for most of her adult life. But she eventually seized control of her life, transcended her troubled past, and overcame her toxic inner voice (and a near death experience)—thanks to the power of forgiveness, cultivated through her conversion to Christianity. She evolved from a scared and abused motorhome-dwelling girl to a Harvard-educated professional with a passion for empowering others to reject the cycles of poverty, depression, and self-hatred. Motorhome Prophecies is the story of Carrie’s unbelievable, yet in many ways, very American journey. It resonates with those trapped in difficult situations and awes all who are enchanted by the depths and resilience of the human spirit.

Book Healing

  • ISBN : 1612783767
  • Pages : 159 pages

Download or read book Healing written by Mary Healy and published by Our Sunday Visitor. This book was released on 2015-10-23 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed." - Matthew 8:8 When we, or a family member or friend, are faced with an injury or illness, physical or emotional, our thoughts turn to God in prayer for healing. We want to believe, as the Centurion did, that God will grant healing, but we wonder. And if we as Catholics have doubts, what does this mean to a hurting world, also in need of healing? In her new book Healing: Bringing God's Gift of Mercy to the World, Mary Healy answers to these questions and more -- Is Jesus still healing people today? Are these healings real and do they last? How do we know if God wants us to pray for healing? Isn't God asking us to endure suffering and hardships instead of asking for healing? How can we pray for healing? Can my broken heart be healed as well as my body? Through the study of Catholic tradition, the lives of the saints, and ordinary people, you'll begin to understand how the message of inward healing is also a message that we as Catholics are empowered to take outward to the world.

Book Handbook of Religion and Health

Download or read book Handbook of Religion and Health written by Harold G. Koenig and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2001-01-11 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What effect does religion have on physical and mental health? In answering this question, this book reviews and discusses research on the relationship between religion and a variety of mental and physical health outcomes, including depression and anxiety; heart disease, stroke, and cancer; and health related behaviors such as smoking and substance abuse. The authors examine the positive and negative effects of religion on health throughout the life span, from childhood to old age. Based on their findings, they build theoretical models illustrating the behavioral, psychological, social, and physiological pathways through which religion may influence health. The authors also review research on the impact of religious affiliation, belief, and practice on the use of health services and compliance with medical treatment. In conclusion, they discuss the clinical relevance of their findings and make recommendations for future research priorities. Offering the first comprehensive examination of its topic, this volume is an indispensable resource for research scientists, health professionals, public policy makers, and anyone interested in the relationship between religion and health.
