Download or read book Money and Life written by Michael Z. Stahl and published by Silver Lake Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The follow-up to the well-reviewed Early to Rise, this is a book on money and life for recent grads--written by a recent grad. Many books give young people good advice, but often are condescending. Stahl is a peer, who gives readers the practical advice they need to avoid common mistakes involving credit and cash flow. But, more importantly, he makes the case that young people need to stop thinking like borrowers and take advantage of their important assets: energy and time. He reveals many practical ideas: * Got a good job? Great. Start a business on the side. * Going to college or grad school? Excellent. Look for freelance work you can do from your computer. * Just married? Congrats. Put your presents in the stock market instead of buying furniture for your apartment. Early adulthood is the best time to build various income streams, setting the groundwork for a lifetime of creating wealth that will give you any lifestyle you want. This book shows young people how to think in terms of creating income--rather than just borrowing and spending.

Download or read book The Future of Money written by Eswar S. Prasad and published by Harvard University Press. This book was released on 2021-09-28 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A cutting-edge look at how accelerating financial change, from the end of cash to the rise of cryptocurrencies, will transform economies for better and worse. We think weÕve seen financial innovation. We bank from laptops and buy coffee with the wave of a phone. But these are minor miracles compared with the dizzying experiments now underway around the globe, as businesses and governments alike embrace the possibilities of new financial technologies. As Eswar Prasad explains, the world of finance is at the threshold of major disruption that will affect corporations, bankers, states, and indeed all of us. The transformation of money will fundamentally rewrite how ordinary people live. Above all, Prasad foresees the end of physical cash. The driving force wonÕt be phones or credit cards but rather central banks, spurred by the emergence of cryptocurrencies to develop their own, more stable digital currencies. Meanwhile, cryptocurrencies themselves will evolve unpredictably as global corporations like Facebook and Amazon join the game. The changes will be accompanied by snowballing innovations that are reshaping finance and have already begun to revolutionize how we invest, trade, insure, and manage risk. Prasad shows how these and other changes will redefine the very concept of money, unbundling its traditional functions as a unit of account, medium of exchange, and store of value. The promise lies in greater efficiency and flexibility, increased sensitivity to the needs of diverse consumers, and improved market access for the unbanked. The risk is instability, lack of accountability, and erosion of privacy. A lucid, visionary work, The Future of Money shows how to maximize the best and guard against the worst of what is to come.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper discusses Guinea’s Eighth and Final Review Under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) Arrangement and Financing Assurances Review, and Request for Extension of the Current Arrangement. Guinea’s medium-term economic prospects are good. Growth is projected to average 5 percent during 2017–20, on the back of higher investments in the mining sector, increases in food production, and better electricity services. The recovery in the agricultural sector will allow the growth rebound to be shared by larger segments of the population, but the sector remains vulnerable to weather-related supply shocks. The IMF staff supports the completion of the eighth review under the ECF arrangement and financing assurances review.

Download or read book Paraguay written by International Monetary Fund. Western Hemisphere Dept. and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2019-04-30 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 2019 Article IV Consultation on Paraguay focused on the policies needed to promote long-term growth, widen the tax base, improve public spending efficiency, and strengthen financial sector supervision. Poverty has fallen sharply, from 58 percent in 2002 to 26 percent currently, although it remains one of the highest in Latin America. Continued convergence is expected to help reduce poverty further and help generate revenues to finance large spending needs. The banking sector is well-capitalized and stable, but the casas de credito and casas comerciales need to be better understood and supervised. The pension system needs reform, both to prevent large pension deficits in the future, and to boost the development of the domestic capital market for long-term instruments. The authorities concurred with IMF staff’s assessment of the main bottlenecks to long-term economic growth. They also agreed structural reforms would help to attract more foreign investments and increase the dynamism of domestic private sector.
