Book A Colorado DUI in 2014 A Guide Through the First Timer s Experience

Download or read book A Colorado DUI in 2014 A Guide Through the First Timer s Experience written by Jeffrey Craig Hoskins and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The day after being handcuffed and arrested for a DUI this past fall in Colorado I spent many hours online and talking to friends and family, trying to figure out exactly how much trouble I had gotten myself into. Like I imagine you were the day after your arrest, I was incredibly worried, annoyed, and bummed out that it had even happened. I wanted to know exactly how I was going to successfully navigate the difficult and lengthy steps that lay ahead. Unfortunately, what I primarily found online were DUI attorney's unnecessarily trying to scare and sell me into hiring them for $2,000, government websites that gave me way too much information that didn't directly relate to my situation (as a first time offender), and blogs that offered up frequently inaccurate and incomplete information. At the end of the day, I pretty much had no idea what I would have to do to become square with the law again, hopefully as soon as possible. Finally, deciding not to hire a DUI attorney, I represented myself. I eventually had the charges reduced from a DUI to a DWAI, my total costs were a third of what I initially thought they would be (people often quote $10,000), and I kept detailed notes of the nearly year-long process. It is that experience that you will find in this easy-to-read guide on how to successfully navigate a DUI in Colorado (and very possibly in other states as well), told from my direct experience. There is also a chapter of my somewhat lengthy and personal partying and driving history that puts my DUI into its proper context, and possibly partially reflects your story as well. It is a great opportunity for you to personally reflect on the poor decisions that led up to you being pulled over that day, and how to become a much more responsible "social" person in the future. If this is your first DUI, and your case is simple and straight forward -- that you went out partying one night, drank too much, drove home, no accidents were involved, and you got pulled over and arrested, then this guide will significantly help you keep your overall costs low. It will also give you peace of mind in very closely knowing what lies ahead. You are now in a much larger community than you may at first realize.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Arizona DUI Handbook provides the tools to begin asserting constitutionally protected rights in preparation for criminal court proceedings. Drivers accused of DUI are sometimes convinced they have no hope of winning their case. They give up without a fight. They never present an adequate defense. They accept plea agreements when they could have won at trial. They hire inexperienced lawyers at a reduced rate believing they're going to lose regardless. Many people attempt to save money by not hiring a lawyer, which is worse. They do not know their rights. They do not understand where and when those rights apply. And because they do not aggressively assert their rights, the results are often unfair, unjust, and sadly permanent. This book provides the essentials of Arizona DUI defense.

Book Democracy and Education

Download or read book Democracy and Education written by John Dewey and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 1916 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: . Renewal of Life by Transmission. The most notable distinction between living and inanimate things is that the former maintain themselves by renewal. A stone when struck resists. If its resistance is greater than the force of the blow struck, it remains outwardly unchanged. Otherwise, it is shattered into smaller bits. Never does the stone attempt to react in such a way that it may maintain itself against the blow, much less so as to render the blow a contributing factor to its own continued action. While the living thing may easily be crushed by superior force, it none the less tries to turn the energies which act upon it into means of its own further existence. If it cannot do so, it does not just split into smaller pieces (at least in the higher forms of life), but loses its identity as a living thing. As long as it endures, it struggles to use surrounding energies in its own behalf. It uses light, air, moisture, and the material of soil. To say that it uses them is to say that it turns them into means of its own conservation. As long as it is growing, the energy it expends in thus turning the environment to account is more than compensated for by the return it gets: it grows. Understanding the word "control" in this sense, it may be said that a living being is one that subjugates and controls for its own continued activity the energies that would otherwise use it up. Life is a self-renewing process through action upon the environment.
