But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over. With a desperate fairy's last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape--created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn't alone--a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent's agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are and, moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up?

Book Dreams from My Father

Download or read book Dreams from My Father written by Barack Obama and published by Crown. This book was released on 2007-01-09 with total page 463 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • ONE OF ESSENCE’S 50 MOST IMPACTFUL BLACK BOOKS OF THE PAST 50 YEARS In this iconic memoir of his early days, Barack Obama “guides us straight to the intersection of the most serious questions of identity, class, and race” (The Washington Post Book World). “Quite extraordinary.”—Toni Morrison In this lyrical, unsentimental, and compelling memoir, the son of a black African father and a white American mother searches for a workable meaning to his life as a black American. It begins in New York, where Barack Obama learns that his father—a figure he knows more as a myth than as a man—has been killed in a car accident. This sudden death inspires an emotional odyssey—first to a small town in Kansas, from which he retraces the migration of his mother’s family to Hawaii, and then to Kenya, where he meets the African side of his family, confronts the bitter truth of his father’s life, and at last reconciles his divided inheritance. Praise for Dreams from My Father “Beautifully crafted . . . moving and candid . . . This book belongs on the shelf beside works like James McBride’s The Color of Water and Gregory Howard Williams’s Life on the Color Line as a tale of living astride America’s racial categories.”—Scott Turow “Provocative . . . Persuasively describes the phenomenon of belonging to two different worlds, and thus belonging to neither.”—The New York Times Book Review “Obama’s writing is incisive yet forgiving. This is a book worth savoring.”—Alex Kotlowitz, author of There Are No Children Here “One of the most powerful books of self-discovery I’ve ever read, all the more so for its illuminating insights into the problems not only of race, class, and color, but of culture and ethnicity. It is also beautifully written, skillfully layered, and paced like a good novel.”—Charlayne Hunter-Gault, author of In My Place “Dreams from My Father is an exquisite, sensitive study of this wonderful young author’s journey into adulthood, his search for community and his place in it, his quest for an understanding of his roots, and his discovery of the poetry of human life. Perceptive and wise, this book will tell you something about yourself whether you are black or white.”—Marian Wright Edelman

Book Voices Still Heard Dreams Still Believed Scenes Still Viewed

Download or read book Voices Still Heard Dreams Still Believed Scenes Still Viewed written by Doris Ezell-Schmitz and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-08-13 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why Buy This Book? I awakened to the sound of Mama shucking sweet summer corn. Galash! Ga-lash! Ga-lash! Oh, boy, I thought, as I lazily crawled out of bed and headed down the hall, ready to help Mama before I dressed. But Mama was nowhere in sight. That's when I realized inside my ten-year-old mind that what I had heard was Mr. Tyler beating his dog, old Dash, again. I had to call Anna Lee. After all, we were best friends. She would know what to do. Dash's story is one of many in my writer's heart, festering like a boil waiting to come to a head. Just like that night that had been brewing between Cindy Lou and me for the longest time. She had been talking about Mama and Mother for days, calling my mother and grandmother "them old African women." And what about the other stories circling around the inside of my head? Like the one about the rock that came barreling through the air, splitting my head open; or the joy of having a birthday party; my first experience with prejudice; the pain of losing my favorite doll, Donna; the horror that stirred inside me when one of my good friends died; finding out about my friend's terrible secret; the sadness I felt for the two brothers who came begging for food one Sunday; my second boyfriend who moved away without letting me know; and several other events that had a tremendous impact on my youth. Meet Mama, Mother, Sister, and Anna Lee, common folks you'll like. Come travel with me. I may be only ten, but I'm ready, willing, and quite capable of helping you discover those Voices Still Heard, Dreams Still Believed, and Scenes Still Viewed.

Book On Dreams

    Book Details:
  • Author : William Archer
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2017-09-07
  • ISBN : 1315312409
  • Pages : 236 pages

Download or read book On Dreams written by William Archer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-07 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1935, William Archer’s interest in dreams had persisted for over quarter of a century, for ten years of which he kept a careful record of his own dreams. These records alone form a valuable collection of material, of which Archer made good use in the writing of the book on dreams on which he was engaged at the time of his death; large parts of these dream-records are reproduced in this book. He left this book partly finished, partly in draft, and partly in the form of notes. In putting together this material the editor, Theodore Besterman, tries to carry out Archer’s intentions as closely as possible, and believed that he represented the book as he would have wished it to appear. It was unquestionably an important contribution to a difficult subject at the time, the result of many years’ study and reflection.
