Download or read book Handbook of Forensic Medicine written by Burkhard Madea and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-03-17 with total page 1312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forensic Medicine encompasses all areas in which medicine and law interact. This book covers diverse aspects of forensic medicine including forensic pathology, traumatology and violent death, sudden and unexpected death, clinical forensic medicine, toxicology, traffic medicine, identification, haemogenetics and medical law. A knowledge of all these subdisciplines is necessary in order to solve routine as well as more unusual cases. Taking a comprehensive approach the book m.oves beyond a focus on forensic pathology to include clinical forensic medicine and forensic toxicology. All aspects of forensic medicine are covered to meet the specialist needs of daily casework. Aspects of routine analysis and quality control are addressed in each chapter. The book provides coverage of the latest developments in forensic molecular biology, forensic toxicology, molecular pathology and immunohistochemistry. A must-have reference for every specialist in the field this book is set to become the bench-mark for the international forensic medical community.

Book excerpt: This report is an introductory summary of the main phenomena of the detonation and fragmentation of explosive warheads and of the phenomena of high- velocity impact. It covers the techniques for measuring and predicting the extremely rapid and intense exchanges of energy and momentum that occur in the interaction of a warhead with a target. Beginning with the ballistics of gun- launched projectiles, the report develops a parallel description of warhead phenomena. In this process parts of several specialized fields of physical science are used: impact mechanics, the deflagration and detonation of explosives, and the behavior of materials under extremely high loads and high rates of loading.

Book excerpt: What is Bullet A bullet is a kinetic projectile, a component of firearm ammunition that is shot from a gun barrel. They are made of a variety of materials, such as copper, lead, steel, polymer, rubber and even wax; and are made in various shapes and constructions, including specialized functions such as hunting, target shooting, training, and combat. Bullets are often tapered, making them more aerodynamic. Bullet size is expressed by weight and diameter in both imperial and metric measurement systems. Bullets do not normally contain explosives but strike or damage the intended target by transferring kinetic energy upon impact and penetration. How you will benefit (I) Insights, and validations about the following topics: Chapter 1: Bullet Chapter 2: Rifle Chapter 3: Cartridge (firearms) Chapter 4: Muzzleloader Chapter 5: Rifling Chapter 6: Caliber Chapter 7: Terminal ballistics Chapter 8: Muzzle velocity Chapter 9: Smoothbore Chapter 10: Gun barrel (II) Answering the public top questions about bullet. Book Bomb Penetration Tests Fort Churchill Canada

Download or read book Bomb Penetration Tests Fort Churchill Canada written by Clifton W. Livingston and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inert mortar shells and inert general-purpose, semi-armor-piercing, and armor-piercing bombs were dropped on frozen ground (glacial till) near Fort Churchill, Manitoba. Canada during the winter 1956-57 to observe projectile penetration and determine the feasibility of forming trenches and foxholes in frozen ground by means of bombs released from aircraft. Projectiles ranging from 81-mm mortar shells to 1600 AP bombs were released from altitudes of 2000 to 24,500 ft. Analysis of the test data was directed towards determining fundamentals of penetration of projectiles into materials of the earth's crust. (Author).
