Erik does a thorough work of reminding us of the importance of allowing ourselves to be transformed and that an awesome God includes us in His purposes as part of His kingdom. Excerpt from foreword by Pastor Phil Scott, Regional Director, Allegheny Region Conference of the Churches of God Eriks approach is not theological or academic. Rather, he takes a unique look at the Model Prayer with a desire for discovery. I found it most refreshing. Enjoy and be inspired. John O. Yoder, BA, Pastor and Church Planter

Download or read book The Lord s Prayer Revisited written by Carolyn Chambers and published by Anointed Life Publishing. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the Shepherd of our souls, God knows what things we have need of. As Father, He has also supplied the need; however, because of the condition of our hearts, the supply is often met with opposition. Because of unbelief, three out of four of us will reject the wisdom sown in our hearts. This occurs primarily because our identity (who we are in Christ) has not been established; making us ill-prepared to function in His likeness; to think like Him. Consequently, we are not equipped to handle the storms of life. Finding ourselves going around the same mountain again and again, we sit back and question God. But through praying the Lord's Prayer, our Maker can get in and turn things around. The Lord's Prayer-Revisited will address seven ways God uses to bring about a turnaround in our prayer life. First, it brings us back to God's original manner of prayer; it teaches us to prepare our hearts to receive His Word and keep it. Next, it helps to guard us from the sin of presumption that leads to unbelief and ultimate disappointment. The Lord's Prayer also teaches us that prayer is a test that exposes the condition of our hearts. God is endeavoring to prove Himself faithful to those whose hearts are perfect toward Him. But often, His Word finds no rest in many of our hearts. As the author of our faith, God is looking for the operation of one of seven processes that prove that we are willing and able to think on His level. These secret processes bring the powerful alliance of God and man to the needs in our lives--and correlate with each petition-verse of the Lord's Prayer. The Lord's Prayer-Revisited will also bring the seven Redemptive Names of God to bear on our prayer life, where the promises of God are confirmed. The name of Jesus embodies all the essence, characteristics, and power evoked in each of Jehovah's Redemptive Names. In Exodus 3:13-14, Moses asked God, how he should respond when asked, "What is his name? What shall I say unto them?" God did not hesitate to tell him. When Moses heard the name: 'I AM, ' 1 it spoke volumes to him; he knew that they were in good hands. The Bible says: "And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee..." (Psalms 9:10). As we hallow His name, we are making a demand on the promises and attributes His name denotes; because we belong to Him, we are kept in His name. His name is a strong tower, where the righteous run into it and are safe (Proverbs 18:10). The Lord's Prayer-Revisited will also address seven hindrances of each petition (areas where we fall short of the glory of God.) and seven strategies (ways of escape) of each petition. In addition, it will highlight the seven specific types of prayer each petition evokes. Each prayer gives God access into that particular area of our need. Finally, The Lord's Prayer-Revisited will help you to think like the Master!

Book The Seven Prayers of Jesus

Download or read book The Seven Prayers of Jesus written by Laszlo Gallusz and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Millions of Christians believe that prayer is the breath of the soul, on which depends the quality of their spiritual life. The reality, however, is that genuine prayer is something we need to learn repeatedly. We share the helplessness of the disciples who asked Jesus, 'Lord, teach us to pray' (Luke 11:1). This volume focuses on the praying of Jesus Christ in the New Testament. The Seven Prayers of Jesus investigates his prayers in their literary and socio-historical context, and points to their theological significance and relevance for today. Laszlo Gallusz hopes that this work will not only provide a fresh biblical perspective on the prayers of Jesus but also become a source of inspiration for our own prayer lives. 'Dr Gallusz's... engagement with Scripture shows his mastery of the biblical topic. Yet he also writes with the heart of a pastor, applying his insights to the life of the individual Christian and also that of the church. This book will enrich the intellect and nurture the spirit of all those who read it. I recommend it wholeheartedly.' Laurence A. Turner, Principal Lecturer Emeritus in Old Testament, Newbold College, Bracknell, UK
