Book Experiencing Ishmael Before Receiving Isaac

Download or read book Experiencing Ishmael Before Receiving Isaac written by Sister Angela Taylor and published by Publishamerica Incorporated. This book was released on 2007-03-01 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cast out the bondwoman and her son: For the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the free woman. You will always experience Ishmael before receiving Isaac. If you attend a church, I know that you are familiar with the story of Ishmael. Ishmael was born from an affair due to the impatience of a woman who wouldnt wait on God. There are those of us who are married and wish that we were single, and there are those of us divorced because of the same reason. Some of us were not saved and got married for all the wrong reasons. What does the Bible say concerning Ishmael? Ishmael shall not share in the inheritance promised to Abraham. Personally speaking from life experiences, Ishmael can be any number of things in your life, not necessarily a person. Ishmael only appears to be the real thing, but isnt. It looks like it, acts like it, even talks like it, but you will find out its the furthest thing away from the real thing.

Book excerpt: The twentieth century should be remembered in missions as the time when women got lost. Over that time, the voices of women missionaries, leaders, and facilitators of new Christian movements were all too often excluded from missiological discourse and strategic mission discussion. It is hoped that this book signals a revival in the contribution of women to mission in a way that values what they have to offer.

Book Abraham Called by God

    Book Details:
  • Author : Witness Lee
  • Publisher : Living Stream Ministry
  • Release : 2024-01-19
  • ISBN : 1536036714

Download or read book Abraham Called by God written by Witness Lee and published by Living Stream Ministry. This book was released on 2024-01-19 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abraham was the same as we are today. He never dreamed of being called by God. Suddenly, while he and his relatives were in Chaldea worshipping other gods, the God of glory appeared to him. This appearing was a great attraction, enabling him to come out of his fallen background and accept God's calling. Although Abraham answered God's call, he did not do so immediately nor absolutely. Although he learned to live by faith, he had serious failures along the way. He followed God in a way not unlike us all. Eventually, he was brought to know grace for the fulfillment of God's purpose. In a remarkable commentary on the life of Abraham from the book of Genesis, Witness Lee presents Abraham as a genuine man, not unlike us all, fallen, but called by God. Like him, we have seen "the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" and have been attracted to follow Him. Like him, we must learn the lessons of faith through trials, testing, and failure, in order to enter into the promises and blessings of God. Abraham--Called by God, taken from the Life-study of Genesis, presents a unique and vital view of the father of our faith.

Download or read book Isaac and Ishmael written by Mary Frances Burns and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2018-12-27 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abraham's divine and mythic destiny is to be the father of not just one but two great peoples: the Hebrews and the Arabs. His son Ishmael was born to an Egyptian princess who was a captive slave in his household, at a point in the patriarch's life when he despaired of having any children by his wife Sarah. But then the three mysterious messengers of Yahweh appear and tell him that Sarah, in her old age, will conceive a son. Ishmael and his mother, Hagar, are sent into the desert by Sarah, jealous of her husband's affection for his first-born son. And so the trouble begins.... This work of fiction follows the familiar story lines in the Hebrew Bible (Christian Old Testament) but presents individual persons on a human scale in order to explore the thorny, complex and delicate relations between these brothers, who live in a place where time and eternity touch. A new God is coming into being here: Yahweh, the uncanny, irascible, mischievous, bargaining God who participates in the life of a new people and compels them to a new way of being human.

Book excerpt: In this pioneering work Siraj Sait and Hilary Lim address Islamic property and land rights, drawing on a range of socio-historical, classical and contemporary resources. They address the significance of Islamic theories of property and Islamic land tenure regimes on the 'webs of tenure' prevalent in the Muslim societies. They consider the possibility of using Islamic legal and human rights systems for the development of inclusive, pro-poor approaches to land rights. They also focus on Muslim women's rights to property and inheritance systems. Engaging with institutions such as the Islamic endowment (waqf) and principles of Islamic microfinance, they test the workability of 'authentic' Islamic proposals. Located in human rights as well as Islamic debates, this study offers a well researched and constructive appraisal of property and land rights in the Muslim world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does beauty have to do with healing the fragmentation within our churches? According to Michael Pasquarello, everything. Amid the cacophony of ugly political invective that dominates nearly every space today—including church—only God has the power to unify and heal through his truth and goodness, revealed in his beauty. And every Sunday, those in the pulpit have the opportunity and responsibility to share this beauty with their parishioners. Tapping into a long tradition that can be traced back to Augustine, Michael Pasquarello explores a theological definition of beauty that has tremendous revelatory power in a post-Christendom world. A church manifesting this beauty is not merely a gathering of people, but a place where God’s new creation appears in the midst of the old creation, ushered in by a pastor willing to make God the primary actor within the doxological craft of preaching.

Download or read book Lost Sons written by Michael Sadgrove and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2012-11-15 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stories in the Books of Genesis and Exodus tell of fathers whose sons are 'lost' to them through 'deaths' of various kinds. One is murdered. Another is abandoned. A third is supplanted. A fourth is betrayed. A fifth is taken for sacrifice. A sixth is forgotten about. A seventh is secreted away. Only one of these is lost through physical death; the others 'die' symbolically. But in their different ways all these sons are lost to their fathers, some for a time, some forever. And all of them develop the theme with which the biblical narrative begins: God's first son Adam who, by becoming 'lost' to his Creator, sets in train God's long search for humanity . . . The book culminates with a chapter on Jesus: God's son lost and found.
