Book excerpt: Existing Land Use Study: This study provides a basis for determining the current population distribution and provides information for the land use plan, zoning ordinance, subdivision regulations, and other development elements of the comprehensive plan for Pascagoula. The study includes the condition of structures, the current use of each parcel of land and the land use development pattern of the community. The collected land use data are analyzed to bring forth land development problems, and to determine the major factors influencing the future land use in Pascagoula. Neighborhood Analysis: The neighborhood analysis shows the existing conditions in each neighborhood based upon population projections, and reflects those services which must be developed in each neighborhood to serve the existing as well as future population in Pascagoula. A determination has been made of the cause of existing blight. The recommendations developed in this report serve as a guide for clearance, rehabilitation and conservation of the land area in each neighborhood.
