Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The secrets behind these EVIL HOUSES make paranormal child's play. EVIL HOUSES is an original collection of haunted house thrillers that's a must-read for fans of ghost stories and tales of gripping terror. In The House From Hell, Mike, Trista, Greg and Tiffany conduct a paranormal investigation in a house where, twenty-eight years earlier, the father drowned his wife and son and bludgeoned his daughter to death before hanging himself. The investigation leads into the bowels of a preserved, abandoned realm where every clue exposes violent evil and each revelation deepens the terrifying, apocalyptic reality the team has exposed themselves to. In The Straw House, Steven and Brenda are living a normal life in the 1980's. Steven acquires building contracts and Brenda tends the home preparing for their life together. However, neither knows the ancient evil that stalks Steven's soul until Steven's memory is reawakened to his old sins and their consequences on Halloween night. In the darkness Brenda is seduced by witchcraft and Steven comes face to face with an inferno of evil more sinister than any closeted childhood fear. In Grave Incidents, David, a psychologist and dream analysis specialist, attempts to assist Rebecca (a woman suffering from horrific nightmares and a peculiar phobia) in resolving her inner turmoil. As the sessions reach deeper into Rebecca's soul, David soon discovers his own haunted past. This triggers a dangerous downward spiral for them both. Soon their highly charged emotions and own histories are revealed through supernatural visions, bloody secrets and a dark truth that can only be unraveled through a violent confrontation in a secluded house in deep wilderness. "A bone-chilling read!" says Joe Flynn, horror host of San Jose's popular "The Joe Flynn Show."

From Atlantis in The Spy Who Loved Me to Nathan Bateman's ultra-modern abode in Ex Machina, big-screen villains often live in architectural splendor. From futuristic fantasies to deathtrap-laden hives, from dwellings in space to those under the sea, pop culture and architecture join forces in these outlandish, primarily modern homes and in Lair, which features buildings from fifteen films, including: Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb Star Wars The Incredibles Blade Runner 2049 You Only Live Twice The Ghost Writer Body Double North by Northwest Edited by acclaimed architect Chad Oppenheim with Andrea Gollin, Lair includes interviews with production designers and other industry professionals such as Ralph Eggleston, Richard Donner, Roger Christian, David Scheunemann, Gregg Henry, and Mark Digby. Book Evil Houses Extended Horrors

Download or read book Evil Houses Extended Horrors written by Erik A. Shuttleworth and published by Black Bed Sheet Books. This book was released on 2022-09-10 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I was seventeen we moved into a house of note, in the sophisticated backwoods of a “better part” of Arkansas. The elegant wood walls held the light of windows from heaven. The skylights, as they were, bathed the living room with sufficient light to hide the darkness beneath the floor. Moving from that room into the kitchen, with its regal appointments and then, into the upstairs master bedroom and Jacuzzi-clad bathroom finished the illuminated journey. Yet, the way downward was the path of note. There was carpet and dark and damp. First, on the right, was the door to the furnace room, with a massive, devouring cavern of iron teeth, waiting for its daily dose of wooden sacrifices. Then, a smaller bedroom, bathroom and a final, darker corner sleeping area. It was here I slept the years of my college life, rather than a dormitory appointment. The demon of the house was a more familiar roommate, a more intimate associate to my pain. Paralyzed with terror my limbs froze during the night hours as the masked intruder approached my body and wrapped its cold, blackly shrouded hands around my neck. Time and time again I opened my eyes to see the night realm held in place as the black mass undulated towards me, carrying its undisclosed intentions. There was even a day the presence moved freely during the light hours, a daring feat for the ruler of the darkness. It did not desire companionship, or conversation, only to rip the flesh of my soul. And I obliged with the scarred offering of a self-inflicted injury to my body. Herein are my credentials for pages you will read.

Book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Download or read book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil written by John Berendt and published by Random House. This book was released on 1994-01-13 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A modern classic of true crime, set in a most beguiling Southern city—now in a 30th anniversary edition with a new afterword by the author “Elegant and wicked . . . might be the first true-crime book that makes the reader want to book a bed and breakfast for an extended weekend at the scene of the crime.”—The New York Times Book Review Shots rang out in Savannah’s grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. In this sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative, John Berendt skillfully interweaves a hugely entertaining first-person account of life in this isolated remnant of the Old South with the unpredictable twists and turns of a landmark murder case. It is a spellbinding story peopled by a gallery of remarkable characters: the well-bred society ladies of the Married Woman’s Card Club; the turbulent young gigolo; the hapless recluse who owns a bottle of poison so powerful it could kill every man, woman, and child in Savannah; the aging and profane Southern belle who is the “soul of pampered self-absorption”; the uproariously funny drag queen; the acerbic and arrogant antiques dealer; the sweet-talking, piano-playing con artist; young people dancing the minuet at the black debutante ball; and Minerva, the voodoo priestess who works her magic in the graveyard at midnight. These and other Savannahians act as a Greek chorus, with Berendt revealing the alliances, hostilities, and intrigues that thrive in a town where everyone knows everyone else. Brilliantly conceived and masterfully written, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a sublime and seductive reading experience.

In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house, but the property—complete with boathouse and swimming pool—and the price had been too good to pass up. Twenty-eight days later, the entire Lutz family fled in terror. This is the spellbinding, shocking true story that gripped the nation about an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining—“this book will scare the hell out of you” (Kansas City Star).
