Book Zechariah s Hope Paperback

Download or read book Zechariah s Hope Paperback written by David C Coldwell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Zechariah may be one of the least read books in the Bible. For the past twenty years I have taught the Bible to pastors in Asian countries where life is difficult for them. My pattern was to begin each day with a devotional that would apply specific Bible lessons to their lives. When I started giving devotional thoughts from Zechariah, I learned that the Asian pastors had a keen interest in that prophet. They would often ask questions or share their thoughts about Zechariah long after our devotional had ended. I believe that a daily time with the Lord is essential for believers who desire to serve Him in this knotty world. According to Proverbs, life is a series of choices between which roads we will travel. We decide daily to either take the path of the righteous or the way of the wicked. We choose regularly to either walk on the path of the wise person or stroll along the way of the fool.

Book Theology from the Beginning

Download or read book Theology from the Beginning written by Andreas Schüle and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Primeval History (Genesis 1-11) is one of the most complex theological compositions of the Old Testament/the Hebrew Bible. Woven into its multi-layered text one finds reflections on an array of fundamental questions: How did the world come into being? Who is its creator? What role does humankind play in the larger scheme of creation? Why is the world that God made not a perfect one? And finally, is it possible to lead a meaningful and even happy life despite the unpredictabilities of existence? The essays by Andreas Schule assembled in this volume address these and related questions through close readings of Genesis 1-11 and by relating them to kindred textual traditions throughout the Old Testament/the Hebrew Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 40 Day ChallengeWeb Excerpt: Introduction to this Book: You may ask why I chose the topic, A 40 day Challenge. Why did you not select a devotional book on the traditional 365 day scale? Or you may ask why not, a 2 week trial or a 30 day trial.why 40 days? The bible is full of examples of 40 days as anointed time with God. Lets take a look at some of these examples. To start with I am going to list for you all of the examples of 40 days, 40 weeks, 40 months and 40 years that I could find in the bible. Then I will explain to you why the Lord made 40 days so important to me. 40 days: 1) Ezekiel fasted for 40 days. The Lord told him to lie on his left side 1 day for each year that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord. 2) Jesus fasted 40 days in the wilderness and was tempted of Satan prior to starting his ministry 3) It rained upon the earth 40 days when Noah and his family went into the Ark. 4) The Egyptians embalmed Joseph and the people mourned 40 days as per their custom for him. 5) Moses in Exodus went up on the mount and was before the Lord 40 days and the Lord gave him the laws and commandments. 6) The 12 spies checked out the land for 40 days then brought Moses their report. 7) Moses went back upon the mount for another 40 days of prayer and fasting in Deut. 8) Goliath presented himself morning & evening for 40 days before the children of Israel tempting them to send a man to fight him. 9) In I Kings the prophet rose, eat and drank and went 40 days on the strength of that meal unto Horeb the Mount of God. 10) Ezekiel lay for 40 days on his left side as penance for the 40 years of iniquity of the children of Israel. 11) Jonah preached, Yet 40 days and I will destroy this city, saith the Lord. 12) Jesus was on earth 40 days after his resurrection from the dead before he ascended to heaven. 40 weeks: 1) The normal delivery time of a baby. The mother carries the baby an average of 36-40 weeks. That is 9 months give or take two weeks as most doctors figure it. 2) 40 weeks stood for new life, new birth in the Old Testament 3) Old Testament Prophecy refers to 40 weeks. This is future translated into generations. 40 months: 1) Each time that the Lord send a word of warning to the children of Israel to clean up their ways, turn from their idols and return to Bethel, he gave them 40 months of words from the prophets and challenges to change, then when they did not turn their hearts toward God, he sent them into captivity. 2) 40 months is the probationary period of God. 40 years: 1) Moses was 40 years old when he killed the Egyptian and fled to the wilderness. 2) Moses remained for 40 years in the wilderness before he returned to Egypt to lead the children of Israel out of bondage. He was 80 years old. 3) The children of Israel wondered around in the wilderness, then came to Jordan and refused to cross over. Their faith was weak. God sent them back into the wilderness to ramble some more. For a total of 40 years they wandered in the wilderness. Then God took Moses on his 120 birthday. Because their faith was so weakthey were sent back out to wander another 40 years and that generation was not allowed to see the promise land. 4) After wandering around for a 40 year period in the wilderness, then Joshua led the Children of Israel across Jordan and took Jericho. 5) Isaac was 40 years old when he took Rebekah to wife 6) Esau was 40 years old when he took the Hittite to wife 7) Joshua was 40 years old when Moses assigned him to go into Jericho as a spy 8) 40 years later, Joshua led the children of Israel into Jericho 9) In Judges the land had rest 40 years 10) Also in Judges the land was in quite for 40 years---peace. 11) When the children of Israel did not obey God in Judges, he delivered them up to the Philistines control for 40 years 12) Samuel judged Israel forty years 13) Sauls son was 40 years old when he be

Download or read book The Heart of Man written by Erich Fromm and published by Open Road Media. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acclaimed social psychologist and New York Times–bestselling author of The Art of Loving discusses the nature of evil and humanity’s capacity for it. Originally published in 1964, The Heart of Man was influenced by turbulent times. Average Americans were suffering from different forms of evil, including a rise in juvenile delinquency. On a grander scale, the threat of nuclear war loomed over the nation, and President John F. Kennedy had been assassinated. What could drive humanity to do things such as these? In The Heart of Man, renowned humanist philosopher and psychoanalyst Erich Fromm investigates man’s capacity to destroy, his narcissism, and his incestuous fixation. He expands upon ideas he presented in Escape from Freedom, Man for Himself, and The Art of Loving, and examines the essence of evil, as well as the choice between good and evil. He also explores man’s ability to destroy and further considers freedom, aggression, destructiveness, and violence. “The Heart of Man questions human nature itself, from the forms of violence that plague it to individual and social narcissism to how the positive value of “love of life” can potentially outweigh the destructive “syndrome of decay” caused by the love of death and other harmful tendencies of thought.” —Midwest Book Review

Book What Is the Condition of Your Heart According to the Scriptures

Download or read book What Is the Condition of Your Heart According to the Scriptures written by Roger Nimmo and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are you treasuring in your heart, and is your heart good ground? I believe the condition of our hearts will determine how much of the power of God will continually work in our lives. The condition of your heart does not affect how much God loves you or how he sees you. God sees us perfect in Christ Jesus. The condition of your heart will affect how you relate and see God. “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). “God never condemns us but loves us unconditionally” (Romans 8:1). The heart is affected by what we are looking at, the people we hang out with, what we are listening to, what we are reading, what we are watching, whom we are speaking to, the universities we attend, or what we are focused on. When our heart is like the heart of God, the power of the Holy Spirit freely flows and is not restricted. The Bible says, “We access grace by faith,” but unbelief and doubt in the heart will choke faith, and so we are not as fruitful. Remember in Galatians 4:6, God sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Father.” If our hearts are defiled with unbelief, doubt, fear, or a sinful conscience, we restrict the power of the Holy Spirit. This occurs because the heart is like a conduit for the power of the Holy Spirit to flow out to our mind, body, soul, and all that God desires to do in and through us. If we put the world in, we get the world out, which leads us to a defeated life and keeps us from entering into His rest. The author uses scripture after scripture to show his point. If you are a person who wants not just the author’s opinion but also Scripture to back everything up, this book is for you.

Book The Gospel Love Divine

Download or read book The Gospel Love Divine written by William H. Wetmore and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-10-31 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gospel of Christ is the central message of Scripture. It contains Gods eternal plan for the redemption and reconciliation of His creation. However, do you understand the gospel? Can you proclaim the gospel? Is the gospel important in your life? The Gospel: Love Divine presents the gospel of Christ in terms that every Christian can understand. This book explains the origin of the gospel, the content of the gospel, the purpose of the gospel, and the results of the gospel. The origin of the gospel is with Abraham and his offspring (Jesus Christ); the content of the gospel is the Cross of Christ and His resurrection; the purpose of the gospel is joy, confidence, and faith; the result of the gospel is that we would become a new creation, redeemed and reconciled to God. As such, this book is to equip the Christian community with the essential information for proclaiming the gospel, defending the gospel, and applying the gospel. The Christian church will be stronger and a more effective witness when the gospel is fully understood. We need to be Christs witness in all the world.

Book Blame and Political Attitudes

Download or read book Blame and Political Attitudes written by Gail Sahar and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-25 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Questions about the causes of events, from terrorist attacks to mass shootings to economic and public health crises dominate conversations across the US. Recent research in social psychology outlines the process we use to identify the causes of such events, reveals how we determine who is responsible or to blame, and documents the far-reaching consequences of these determinations for our emotions, our actions, and our attitudes. Current approaches to political opinions posit a direct path from a person’s worldview (liberal or conservative) to their attitudes toward specific political issues like abortion and welfare. This book argues that blame is the missing link between the two. Gail Sahar demonstrates that the current emphasis on value differences, whether between conservatives and liberals in the U.S. or between religious and secular countries on a global level, ignores commonalities in the way people think about issues. She proposes that focusing on perceived causes of social problems is a much more promising avenue for dialog than trying to reconcile fundamental belief systems. Informed by the latest psychological science, this new take on how to change attitudes has implications for anyone seeking to influence the viewpoints of others, from politicians and activists to ordinary people talking about current events at a dinner party.
