Download or read book Motivating Thoughts of Confucius written by Mahesh Dutt Sharma and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Confucius is believed to have left the mortal world on November 21, 479 B.C. in Qufu, China, a year after losing his son, Tzu-lu. In fourth century B.C., he was honoured as a sage posthumously. During China’s first Han Dynasty, his ideas became the premise of the state ideology. Widely regarded as one of the most phenomenal educators in Chinese history, this piece of work is a way to reminisce the ‘love for others’ principles of Confucius. The world needs more books like these to consolidate the teachings of visionaries like Confucius, who did not receive the respect and recognition that he deserved in his time.

Download or read book Coastal Scenery written by Nelson Rangel-Buitrago and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-03 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes an easy to apply methodology to determine the scenic value of a coast. As one of the most critical aspects of beach user choice, the determination of coastal area scenic quality is of primordial importance. This book is, therefore, an extremely useful tool for any coastal lovers, being them users, teachers, researchers, or managers. In particular, this work is the first book to present a semi-quantitative analysis of coastal scenery based on more than 4,000 interviews about people’s desired coastal imaginary. Twenty-six parameters can be used to identify any coastal scene, which have then been sub-divided into five attribute categories, weighted and subjected to fuzzy logic mathematics to obtain a decision number (D). This number D represents the coastal scenery at that point, and Five D classes are then presented (from I-excellent, to V-poor). Heritage areas, like National Parks should lie in Class I, which infers top scenic quality. Over a time span of a decade or so, the authors of this book have assessed more than 900 global locations using the technique given in this book. One of the main aims of this method is to point out how scenic areas may be improved by judicious intervention relating to parameters, mainly anthropogenic, chosen for assessment. The content of this book opens perspectives for analysis of the potential for coastal tourism development in natural areas and for landscape quality improvement in current coastal tourist developed areas. “In a very comprehensive way, this book reviews the main concepts about coastal scenery and through the vast global work experience of the authors, presents different methodologies, as well as introducing a novel methodology, using parameter weightings and fuzzy logic mathematics.” Carlos Pereira da Silva, CICS.NOVA, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Lisbon, Portugal “Our lives will be greatly enriched by finding beauty, but we can use help in defining the many ways beauty can be manifested. This book can help us by informing us of the ways landscapes can be viewed and described from many viewpoints to place our own understanding in better perspective.” Karl Nordstrom, Geography Department, Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA “How do we define and quantify a coast’s scenic value? This is the book. It begins by defining coastal scenery, then reviews the approaches to quantifying it, followed by a new fuzzy logic approach and examples. It finishes with a chapter on how to manage these attractive landscapes, many of which are being overrun and ruined by development. This is a must read for researchers who wish to evaluate and managers who wish to maintain this valuable yet intangible coastal resource.” Andrew Short, Coastal Studies Unit, Sydney University, Australia

Book Tea with Kong Zi

Download or read book Tea with Kong Zi written by Peter Alatsas and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2023-02-03 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you think hate is a stronger emotion than love? How can I forget my problems? In China, they say that the first bird out of the tree gets shot. “Tea with Kong Zi (Confucius)” is a work of historical fiction based on the great teacher’s Analects in the form of a collection of dialogues between modern-day manager Pete (the book’s author) and Con (Confucius) on topics such as character, loyalty, integrity, success, and greed. Peter Alatsas, an experienced international manager and consummate traveller, has written a simple and pleasant “value guide”. “My inspiration was corruption and lack of ethical moral character in leadership,” he says. He also mentions that Confucius would never have engaged in active dialogue, unlike the Socratic way, because in Chinese culture the master is always above his students. This is one big difference between China and the West. For Confucius, questioning was the role of the teacher. Having studied the Analects and the literature that Confucius based his knowledge on, Alatsas tries to be practical and to the point being of Spartan origin brevity is the philosophy. In the end, Confucianism was more of a pragmatic wisdom than a philosophy. Among the dialogue, the reader can find creative cartoon images that bring the author’s ideas to life.

This book was released on 2018-09-12 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life Is . . . A Journey Worth Fighting For Everyone has a story to tell. Whether we are young or old, our story began the moment we took our first breath. Every one of us chooses the life that we want to live and the story that we want to leave behind the moment we take our last breath. The story of our life is what we make it as we live and learn each day. Life is a journey of personal growth and learning experiences. It is about lessons learned and actions taken to improve the quality of life. This book will take you through a teenage girl's journey through life. Her struggles continued after she dropped out of school, got married at the age of fifteen going on sixteen, and becoming a young teenage mother who managed to finish high school and ultimately obtain a PhD. Both she and her husband were also struck with cancer, but no matter what obstacles came her way, she continued to trust in God and kept moving forward with many dreams for her future. Some facets of life such as life is an opportunity, beauty, a dream, a game, a promise, sorrow, a song, a struggle, a tragedy, an adventure, luck, too precious, life is life, fight for it are words that spoke to her as she came across a poem that inspired her to write this book. She immediately began reflecting on her life and making connections to the words and her interpretation of the message in the poem. A feeling overcame her as if the poem was telling her life story. She experienced the facets of life stated above at different stages in her life and in different situations. As a result, she came to the conclusion that life is a journey worth fighting for. Life is not perfect, and people should not pretend that it is. Some have to work harder than others in order to facilitate their journey through life. Challenges such as bullying, growing pains, dropping out of school, dealing with a failed relationship or marriage, loss of income or job, job reassignment, drug abuse, alcoholism, getting older, and disease are just a few of the struggles that we may experience at different points in life. At times, we may have to put up a good fight and not give up by overcoming obstacles that may interfere with the quality of life, the life God wants for us that will ultimately lead us to eternal life. No matter what age one may be or what obstacles come our way, we should never stop dreaming.
