Download or read book Every Tribe One Smooth Stone written by Troy Workman and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-11-20 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extremists around the globe are waging jihad against Christians and slaughtering them at an alarming rate. When a small church group visits the Valley of Elah, the legendary site of David and Goliath, they are singled out and killed by extremists. One extremist eludes capture by Israeli authorities and makes it back to America, where he plots an even more audacious act. Zoe and Zach Voss are twelve-year-old twins who must decide what it means to be a Jesus follower when extremism comes to America. Do the twins fight back? Do they cower and accept the inevitable? Or is there another avenue available to them? Before their epic showdown with the extremist, something unexpected happens that will uniquely prepare them to confront this evil. Zoe and Zach are whisked away in the spirit and live out the biblical story of David and Goliath. They meet David just before he is anointed king by the prophet Samuel and stay with David through that fateful morning when he steps into the valley and kills Goliath. During their time with David, Zach learns how to throw smooth stones from a sling, and Zoe learns how to play the lyre. After living through this spiritual encounter with David, Zoe and Zach learn to trust God, as seen through the eyes of David. They learn that the battle is the Lords, and Gods weapons are his written Word and his music. Zoe and Zach will have no other choice but to use these powerful weapons when they come face to face with extremism. But will it be enough?

Find out in this one-of-a-kind devotional. Chaim Bentorah reveals the spiritual blessings of spending time alone with God as he describes his experiences in three different silent retreats. These meditations on the deeper meanings of Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic words, drawn from the author’s real-time journal entries, open up the depths of God’s Word—leading you, too, to be called into an intimate relationship with God. You will become refreshed and challenged in your spiritual walk so that you can live with renewed purpose, carrying the compassionate heart of Jesus to the hurting world around you. Book The Simple Difference

Download or read book The Simple Difference written by Becky Keife and published by Revell. This book was released on 2021-10-05 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We've all got a lot of questions these days: In a world marked by division, how do we create bridges of meaningful connection? When despair runs rampant, is real hope possible? When competition is elevated, is compassion still relevant? And at the end of the day, can one person really make any impact at all? When the world's problems loom large and your ordinary life stretches you thin, it is still possible to be a difference-maker--one small, intentional, extravagant act of kindness at a time. Rather than telling you to do more, The Simple Difference shows you how to see more: more of the people in front of you, more of God's lavish love for you, more of his power within you. The Simple Difference will help you - stop getting buried in busyness and distraction and discover countless opportunities for impact right where you are - remove your perceived limitations and learn to see that your "not-enough" is exactly what the world needs - discard expectations of what it takes to make a difference and delight in the life-changing power of simple kindness The Simple Difference isn't about totally changing the course of your life; it's about letting God change you and work through you in the midst of your ordinary days. To say, As I go on my way, Lord, have your way with me. Be a part of The Simple Difference movement--your life and the world will never be the same.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "If we want revival in our communities, then let us learn from those being revived." For many Western Christians, the experience of suffering and persecution is remote. For Chinese Christians, on the other hand, persecution is a regular aspect of the Christian life. If a Christian from the West was transported to a Chinese house church, the topic of suffering would be ever--present in preaching and conversation. With decades of persecution under government oppression and a rich theology of suffering, the Chinese house church movement has much to contribute theologically to the global church. In Faith in the Wilderness, editors Hannah Nation and Simon Liu pull together the insights of the Chinese church for the West. These sermonic letters from Chinese Christians pull back the curtain on the pastoral heart and the hope behind the house church's remarkable faithfulness, awakening readers to the reality of the gospel—the ground of our hope—in the midst of darkness. Readers will be convicted, encouraged, and edified by the testimony of these Chinese Christians. "Let us learn from the witness of our Chinese brothers and sisters so that we can stand fast all the better as we face trials wherever we live." —Tim Keller, from the foreword
