Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Highlighting the demographic, social, and political character of the Evangelical movement in the 1980s and 1990s, Bowen pays particular attention to conversion processes, commitment mechanisms, schisms, and distinctive beliefs. He also considers the controversial issues of religious persecution and American missionary influence. Bowen reveals that Evangelicalism's appeal is so pervasive in Mexico that if Evangelical converts all remained faithful it could become Mexico's dominant religion by 2006. This projection, however, is improbable due to high drop-out rates. Bowen argues that Evangelical apostasy is rooted in the most basic beliefs and practices of its followers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Too often church adherents don't take seriously the issue of apostacy in their churches. We will accept a person falling away and coming back as many times as needed without thinking of the theological ramifications for allowing a person to continuously crucify Christ at their own whim. Owen in this work shows the serious problem that apostacy brings to a church body and also the seriousness in our own lives of people around us that fall away from the true and only Christian faith.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theres nothing new under the sun, the wise King Solomon once said. How true! Nineteen centuries after the Gnostics drove the early church into apostasy, history is repeating itself. As was the case in the second century, many in the Lords body in the twenty-first century are trading reason for speculation, conviction for opinion, facts for narrative, rationality for imagination, and linear truth for allegory. Emerging Towards Apostasy takes you back to the distant past discovering what drives and motivates the so-called emerging church among departing churches of Christ in America today. Along the way you will come to discern how apostasy is once again being driven by post-modern philosophy, denominationalism, and an infatuation with the church fathers, the patristics.

Book excerpt: Bible prophecy warns us of a time of rampant false teaching entering the organized Christian Church. These prophecies warn of a time of teachers, ministers and believers alike being taken captive by spirits of deception and doctrines of demons. It speaks of a time that there will be a great falling away and departure from the true foundation faith provided in the Word of God. That time has arrived. In a time of great falling away from true Biblical doctrine and practice, this book is designed to bring the cross of Jesus Christ and Christian message as it was intended, back to the Church and to all Christian believers. The book covers everything from defining the true born again experience to how we walk after we are born again. Evangelist and Pastor Mischa Safdie' discusses much of the error in many misled individuals in society who "profess" to be Christians but really are not, and that of many modern day organized churches now and he provides a scriptural solution, as well as wisdom, direction and prevention from following apostate teachers today, thereby entering into apostasy and deception oneself. He discusses the dangers of "A New Cart" ministry versus "The Word of the Cross of Jesus Christ. This book is based on scriptural foundation and not solely the opinions of the author, as so many other publications are today. Mischa S. Safdie' Ministries believes this book is a "must read" for all end time Christians, ministers, other believers and those that desire to know what a true walk with Jesus Christ is really all about. The Bible is not outdated. The wheel does not need to be reinvented. God knew what He was doing when He gave His written Word to the world. Now, we must rise up as a spiritual army, as defenders of the cross of Jesus Christ and reclaim what the enemy has taken!

Book The Nature and Causes of Apostasy from the Gospel

Download or read book The Nature and Causes of Apostasy from the Gospel written by R. J. K. Law and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few subjects have received less attention from contemporary Christian writers than that of apostasy. The idea that professing Christians may prove not to be true Christians is, in many respects, too serious a prospect for our facile age. But, for John Owen, such avoidance of the issue was itself a pressing reason for writing on it at length and in great depth of spiritual analysis. His exposition is a masterpiece of penetration and discernment. Now, in this modernised abridgement of Owen's work, Dr. R.J.K. Law makes its powerful teaching readily accessible to modern readers. Some will find its pages deeply soul-searching; others will be struck with the clarity of Owen's insight; all will find a work which wounds in order to heal. John Owen was a leading Puritan pastor and theologian who served as a chaplain to Oliver Cromwell and later as Dean of Christ Church in the University of Oxford. - Publisher.

Book Heresies of Catholicism The Apostate Church

Download or read book Heresies of Catholicism The Apostate Church written by John Schroeder and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-05-08 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is the longevity of the Catholic Church what Rome says it is? Were Christ's Apostles the original Catholics? Did Mary the mother of Jesus really help her Son to redeem mankind? Was the Gospel Jesus left to His disciples incomplete and in need of many additions to perfect it? This book, written by a convert from Catholicism to biblical Christianity, puts the chief claims and doctrines of the Catholic religion under the divine light of God's Word; searches for them in the halls of history; combs through the writings of apostolic fathers for evidence of their veracity. Chapter by chapter, Scripture by Scripture, the facade of holiness and patristic authority is peeled away, and the true apostate nature of Catholicism is exposed. For evangelical Christians, this work is a gold mine of information about Catholic doctrines and how to deal with the deeply embedded beliefs of those who call themselves Roman Catholics. To the devout Catholic, this book will be either a source of enduring anger, or a bright neon arrow pointing to the eternal, soul-saving Word of God.

In spite of what we've done or left undone, in spite of the ways we have failed or floundered. We long for an unconditional, lavish love that we know intrinsically we don't deserve. If you are tired, sad, yet always longing, bestselling author Jared C. Wilson has incredible news for you: that kind of love actually exists, and it is actually something you can experience--whether or not you're in a romantic relationship. In his signature reflective, conversational, and often humorous style, Wilson unpacks 1 Corinthians 13 to show us what real love looks like. Through engaging stories and touching anecdotes, he paints a picture of an extravagant God who not only puts the desire for love into our very souls but fulfills those desires in striking, life-changing ways.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are we on the verge of a great apostasy in the church? "For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths." --2 Timothy 4:3-4 Jesus Christ is coming back. It is certainly a Christian's greatest hope during these difficult times. The Bible warns us that the last days will be tumultuous--wars and rumors of wars will spread (Matthew 24:6). In our age, the world seems to be spinning out of control, creating fear, confusion, and uncertainty. In addition to violence, pestilence, and epidemics, the Bible predicts a great "falling away" from God in the end times. Bible teachers call that "the great apostasy." Are we seeing evidence today in the church of this massive rejection of sound and wholesome teaching? Bestselling authors Mark Hitchcock and Jeff Kinley team up to examine the evidence from the teachers of our time. Are today's teachers allowing people to follow their own desires by telling them what they want to hear, as the Bible clearly predicts? Are major portions of the church ready to abandon sound and wholesome teaching? Together, Mark and Jeff explore alarming trends among today's church leaders and they are simply stunned by what they discover. The great apostasy is coming, but is it closer than we imagine? What does that mean for the future? Let Mark and Jeff be your steady guides to the difficult days ahead.

What a little word, and yet it totally changes the meaning of promises. I will buy you a car if... I will marry you if... We will accept you into our program if... When someone makes a promise to you that contains an "if," you know that promise is based upon certain conditions being met. "If" statements imply conditionality.According to the Bible, the gospel is an "if" promise. The promises of God are based upon certain conditions being met. The very idea of a conditioned gospel is shocking to a religious society that treats the "sinner's prayer" as a magic charm, a phrase that once uttered binds God into a promise and yet frees us from the conditions. But God is too wise to be mocked and too holy to be trifled with."If: The Conditionality of the Gospel and the Danger of Apostasy" explores the biblical teachings of what it really means to be reborn and redeemed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. By examining the Scriptures, it demonstrates that the assurance of our salvation is not based upon a past religious experience but upon our ongoing faith relationship with Christ. It's time the church reacquaint herself with the biblical gospel and do everything we can to make our calling sure. It's time to rediscover the gospel of "if."Dr. Todd Pylant has been the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Benbrook in Fort Worth, Texas since 2004. He has studied at Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Bethel University. In over 24 years of ministry, he has served churches in Texas and Georgia. He is the author of Word of God Speak: Understanding the Bible, Hearing God's Voice. Sermons and writings are available at www.toddpylant.com.

Book Apostasy Divorce Forty Years in the Wilderness of Divorce and Remarriage

Download or read book Apostasy Divorce Forty Years in the Wilderness of Divorce and Remarriage written by Stephen M. Weaver and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-06-27 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Apostasy is defined as a falling away from, or a deliberate abandonment of, what had been established scriptural principles and doctrine. This is exactly where the broader Church is today on the doctrine of divorce and remarriage. Written from an Evangelical Protestant perspective we examine this apostasy and its ramifications to the broader Church, society and individuals. The authors' own 40 year journey vividly underscore the theme. Christians from the first 1900 years of the Church would not recognize today's doctrine as Christian. Jesus' exact teachings are examined in depth as are those of Paul. Jesus' definition of the divorced and remarried as adulterers is paramount to the entire discussion. Adultery is one listed reason for exclusion from the kingdom. The differences between legalism and grace are examined and explained. The outcomes to individuals, and society, are listed and backed with scripture, history, and facts; demonstrated beyond a reasonable doubt.

Download or read book Saving Christianity written by Michael Youssef and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2020 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A clear and frank exploration of the future of Christianity and whether it needs to be saved. We live in confusing times. Our society has shifted on its moral axis, and many are asking whether Christianity needs to be reinvented--or even reimagined--in order to save it. With Newsweek declaring "The Decline and Fall of Christian America" on its cover and The Daily Beast questioning "Does Christianity Have a Future?" bloggers and Christian commentators are discussing whether we need a "new of kind of Christianity." In Saving Christianity? Dr. Michael Youssef explores this train of thought and its pitfalls. He describes how similar discussions in Christianity's recent past explored the very same question. Saving Christianity? will help you discern what is going on within the church while it reviews the essentials of the Christian faith as described in the Bible. We dare not abandon this "mere faith," as Dr. Youssef describes it, because it is the light for all humanity--and especially for those of us living in today's chaotic times. After reading Saving Christianity? you'll have a renewed confidence in the future of the church and the central place it will occupy for generations to come.
