Book Pavement Evaluation and Overlay Design Using Vibratory Nondestructive Testing and Layered Elastic Theory Volume II Validation of Procedure

Download or read book Pavement Evaluation and Overlay Design Using Vibratory Nondestructive Testing and Layered Elastic Theory Volume II Validation of Procedure written by Richard A. Weiss and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method of pavement evaluation and overlay design based on vibratory nondestructive testing and layered elastic theory was developed in Volume I of this report. Volume II validates this method by comparing it with the conventional methods of evaluation and overlay design for rigid and flexible pavements. Three airport sites were used for the validation. Results of the validation showed good agreement between allowable loads determined from the NDT-elastic theory method and the conventional standard method. However, there was poor agreement between overlay thickness requirements determined from the two methods. (Author).

Book Non Destructive Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Structures Deterioration Processes and Standard Test Methods

Download or read book Non Destructive Evaluation of Reinforced Concrete Structures Deterioration Processes and Standard Test Methods written by Christiane Maierhofer and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authoritative book provides a comprehensive review of the highly important subject of non-destructive evaluation of reinforced concrete structures. Engineers have a range of sophisticated techniques at their disposal to assess the condition of reinforced concrete structures that do not cause material damage and which usually enable the structure to be used while the surveys are carried out. Non-destructive evaluation of the infrastructure also plays a key role in calculating and prioritising where money should be spent on repair or replacement. Providing details of related techniques and case studies, this book offers an overview of how to plan and implement the NDT of reinforced concrete structures.

Book Pavement Evaluation and Overlay Design Using Vibratory Nondestructive Testing and Layered Elastic Theory Volume I Development of Procedure

Download or read book Pavement Evaluation and Overlay Design Using Vibratory Nondestructive Testing and Layered Elastic Theory Volume I Development of Procedure written by Richard A. Weiss and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A procedure is developed for determining the allowable load-carrying capacities and the required overlay thicknesses of airport pavements. A layered elastic theory approach is used with vibratory nondestructive tests supplying the dynamic responses of pavements. For a given pavement, a computer program SUBE is used to determine the value of the subgrade Young's modulus from the measured dynamic responses, and a computer program PAVEVAL, which is based on the layered elastic theory, is used to calculate the allowable load-carrying capacity and the required overlay thickness. Limiting subgrade strains and horizontal stresses in pavement layers are used as criteria for determining load-carrying capacities and overlay thickness requirements. Single- and multiple-wheel loadings are considered. Volume II of this report presents a validation of these procedures for three airport sites. (Author).

Book Nondestructive Evaluation

Download or read book Nondestructive Evaluation written by Don E. Bray and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nondestructive evaluation (NDE) inspection schemes are important in design, manufacturing, and maintenance. By correctly applying techniques of NDE, we can reduce machine and system failures and increase reliability of operating systems over an extended lifetime. Nondestructive Evaluation: A Tool in Design, Manufacturing, and Service introduces and discusses primary techniques used in the field, including ultrasonics, acoustic emission, magnetics, radiography, penetrants, and eddy currents. Examples of each of these techniques are included, demonstrating typical applications.

Book A Mechanistic Method for Evaluation of Layer Moduli and Overlay Design

Download or read book A Mechanistic Method for Evaluation of Layer Moduli and Overlay Design written by NA. Ali and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nondestructive testing (NDT) has long been used to evaluate flexible pavement structures. The increasing popularity of nondestructive pavement evaluation methods, based on interpretation of surface deflection, has promoted the development of several types of NDT devices. One such device is the falling weight deflectometer (FWD), which is used for the purpose of pavement evaluation in North Carolina. This paper presents a methodology for the testing, evaluation, and determination of overlay thickness required for a given pavement section and subgrade condition. The overlay design procedure presented makes use of some of the recent developments for analysis and design of asphaltic concrete overlays. The evaluation of in-service pavements includes the use of the deflection parameters developed by testing of the existing pavements with known geometry for determining the moduli of various pavement layers and the required overlay thickness. The method utilizes empirical values and the VESYS structural subsystem as an integral approach complementary to each other.
