Book Evaluation of Donor Abilities of Neutral Ligands to Vanadium V Nitrides

Download or read book Evaluation of Donor Abilities of Neutral Ligands to Vanadium V Nitrides written by Linqing Mo and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In catalyst design, the ancillary ligands play a crucial role in tuning the steric and electronic structure of the system and catalyst performance. Among those ancillary ligands, neutral ligands like phosphines (PR3) or substituted pyridines are some of the most widely-used ligands in transition metal catalysis, making the study of the interaction between these ligands and the central metal necessary. While the interactions between phosphines and low oxidation state metals have been studied for decades, there are few studies concerning the interaction of those ligands with high oxidation state metals. For anionic ligands, our group has developed a new electronic parameter (Ligand Donor Parameter, LDP) using a chromium(IV) species. However, the exploration of neutral ligands with the same chromium species is not an effective method for measuring the neutral ligand donor ability. Computational studies of how neutral ligands will interact with high oxidation state metals will be presented in Chapter 2, in which a new vanadium(V) based model has been used. In Chapter 3, reactivity studies are described where we explored methods of preparing vanadium(V) complexes for donor ability measurements. These studies can give us a better understanding of neutral ligands' donor ability to the vanadium(V) metal center and extend our understanding of how these ligands interact to high oxidation state metals.

Book Olefin Polymerization

Download or read book Olefin Polymerization written by Walter Kaminsky and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 2006-08-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With an enormous velocity, olefin polymerization has expanded to one of the most significant fields in polymers since the first industrial use about 50 years ago. In 2005, 100 million tons of polyolefins were produced - the biggest part was catalyzed by metallorganic compounds. The Hamburg Macromolecular Symposium 2005 with the title "Olefin Polymerization" involved topics such as new catalysts and cocatalysts, kinetics, mechanism and polymer reaction engineering, synthesis of special polymers, and characterization of polyolefins. The conference combined scientists from different disciplines to discuss latest research results of polymers and to offer each other the possibility of cooperation. This is reflected in this volume, which contains invited lectures and selected posters presented at the symposium.

Book Surface Organometallic Chemistry Molecular Approaches to Surface Catalysis

Download or read book Surface Organometallic Chemistry Molecular Approaches to Surface Catalysis written by Jean-Marie Basset and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface organometallic chemistry is a new field bringing together researchers from organometallic, inorganic, and surface chemistry and catalysis. Topics ranging from reaction mechanisms to catalyst preparation are considered from a molecular basis, according to which the "active site" on a catalyst surface has a supra-molecular character. This. the first book on the subject, is the outcome of a NATO Workshop held in Le Rouret. France, in May. 1986. It is our hope that the following chapters and the concluding summary of recommendations for research may help to provide a definition of surface organometallic chemistry. Besides catalysis. the central theme of the Workshop, four main topics are considered: 1) Reactions of organometallics with surfaces of metal oxides, metals. and zeolites; 2) Molecular models of surfaces, metal oxides, and metals; 3) Molecular approaches to the mechanisms of surface reactions; 4) Synthesis and modification of zeolites and related microporous solids. Most surface organometallic chemistry has been carried out on amorphous high-surf ace-area metal oxides such as silica. alumina. magnesia, and titania. The first chapter. contributed by KNOZINGER. gives a short summary of the structure and reactivity of metal oxide surfaces. Most of our understanding of these surfaces is based on acid base and redox chemistry; this chemistry has developed from X-ray and spectroscopic data, and much has been inferred from the structures and reactivities of adsorbed organic probe molecules. There are major opportunities for extending this understanding by use of well-defined (single crystal) oxide surfaces and organometallic probe molecules.

  • Author : Silvia Diez-Gonzalez
  • Publisher : Royal Society of Chemistry

Download or read book N Heterocyclic Carbenes written by Silvia Diez-Gonzalez and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2016-11-04 with total page 637 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In less than 20 years N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) have become well-established ancillary ligands for the preparation of transition metal-based catalysts. This is mainly due to the fact that NHCs tend to bind strongly to metal centres, avoiding the need of excess ligand in catalytic reactions. Also, NHC‒metal complexes are often insensitive to air and moisture, and have proven remarkably resistant to oxidation. This book showcases the wide variety of applications of NHCs in different chemistry fields beyond being simple phosphine mimics. This second edition has been updated throughout, and now includes a new chapter on NHC‒main group element complexes. It covers the synthesis of NHC ligands and their corresponding metal complexes, as well as their bonding and stereoelectronic properties and applications in catalysis. This is complemented by related topics such as organocatalysis and biologically active complexes. Written for organic and inorganic chemists, this book is ideal for postgraduates, researchers and industrialists.

Download or read book Vanadium written by Hitoshi Michibata and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The publication of Vanadium: Biochemical and Molecular Biological Approaches is particularly timely as it exactly coincides with the centennial anniversary of the discovery of vanadium by Professor Henze, in the blood cells of an ascidian (tunicate) collected in Gulf of Naples in 1911. Vanadium, atomic number 23, covers a wide range of oxidation states (from -2 to +5) and has unpaired electrons. Depending on these properties, a wide variety of enzymes and compounds containing vanadium have been found and the biochemical behaviour of vanadium has been investigated extensively. This monograph provides not only the basic properties and recent advances of vanadium chemistry but also presents recent topics on hyper-accumulators of vanadium, enzymatic roles of vanadium, biochemical functions of vanadium and medicinal functions of vanadium, which have been discovered by Biochemical and Molecular Biological Approaches. Vanadium: Biochemical and Molecular Biological Approaches is aimed at pure and applied chemists, biochemists, pharmaceutical and medical scientists.
