Je vais d'abord indiquer comment s'est introduite cette notion de couche de passage dans la théorie de la réflexion ; puis, pour compléter ces indications générales, je passerai rapidement en revue les travaux déjà effectués et les théories proposées, dont la discussion à la lumière des idées actuelles sur la constitution des couches de transition, conduira à poser les bases du présent travail.
