Book Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Systems with Long Range Interactions

Download or read book Dynamics and Thermodynamics of Systems with Long Range Interactions written by Thierry Dauxois and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-01-11 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Properties of systems with long range interactions are still poorly understood despite being of importance in most areas of physics. The present volume introduces and reviews the effort of constructing a coherent thermodynamic treatment of such systems by combining tools from statistical mechanics with concepts and methods from dynamical systems. Analogies and differences between various systems are examined by considering a large range of applications, with emphasis on Bose--Einstein condensates. Written as a set of tutorial reviews, the book will be useful for both the experienced researcher as well as the nonexpert scientist or postgraduate student.

Book Physics of Long range Interacting Systems

Download or read book Physics of Long range Interacting Systems written by Alessandro Campa and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2014 with total page 429 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with an important class of many-body systems: those where the interaction potential decays slowly for large inter-particle distances; in particular, systems where the decay is slower than the inverse inter-particle distance raised to the dimension of the embedding space. Gravitational and Coulomb interactions are the most prominent examples, however it has become clear that long-range interactions are more common than previously thought. A satisfactory understanding of properties, generally considered as oddities only a couple of decades ago, has now been reached: ensemble inequivalence, negative specific heat, negative susceptibility, ergodicity breaking, out-of-equilibrium quasi-stationary-states, anomalous diffusion. The book, intended for Master and PhD students, tries to gradually acquaint the reader with the subject. The first two parts describe the theoretical and computational instruments needed to address the study of both equilibrium and dynamical properties of systems subject to long-range forces. The third part of the book is devoted to applications of such techniques to the most relevant examples of long-range systems.

Download or read book Dynamique non lin aire de l interaction onde particule dans le cas de spectres larges written by Brigitte Ragot and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LA THEORIE QUASI-LINEAIRE JUSTIFIE LA DIFFUSION DE PARTICULES CHARGEES DANS UN SPECTRE LARGE D'ONDES PAR UNE DECORRELATION DE LA DYNAMIQUE POUR DES TEMPS LONGS COMPARES AU TEMPS D'AUTOCORRELATION DU CHAMP.

Download or read book M canique statistique et dynamique hors quilibre de syst mes avec interactions longue port e written by Julien Barré and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book tude probabiliste de syst mes de particules en interaction written by Raphaël Roux and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Fundamental Systems in Quantum Optics

Download or read book Fundamental Systems in Quantum Optics written by J. Dalibard and published by North Holland. This book was released on 1992 with total page 1172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardbound. This book focuses on the new concepts and techniques which have deeply revitalized the field of quantum optics in the last decade. It is now possible to manipulate a simple quantum system (a single atom, ion or molecule, or a single mode of the radiation field) interacting with a well controlled environment. Fundamental aspects of matter-radiation interaction, which up to now have remained hidden due to the statistical character of observable quantities, become directly accessible. The conceptual simplicity of those quantum systems paves the way to direct verifications of the basic prerequisites of the quantum theory. The topics discussed include cavity quantum electrodynamics, noise in quantum optics, laser cooling, non-linear optics, multistability, quantum optics and relativity, cold atomichydrogen atom and collective quantum effects, trapped ioncrystallization. Related fields such as low energy tests of gaugetheories, semi classical meth

Book What is Space Time Made Of

Download or read book What is Space Time Made Of written by David Izabel and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the first part of this book, the author synthesizes the main results and formulas of physics-Albert Einstein's, with general relativity, gravitational waves involving elastic deformable space-time, quantum field theory, Heisenberg's principle, and Casimir's force implying that a vacuum is not nothingness. In the second part, based on these scientific facts, the author re-studies the fundamental equation of general relativity in a weak gravitational field by unifying it with the theory of elasticity. He considers the Ligo and Virgo interferometers as strain gauges. It follows from this approach that the gravitational constant G, Einstein's constant κ, can be expressed as a function of the physical, mechanical and elastic characteristics of space-time. He overlaps these results and in particular Young's modulus of space-time, with publications obtained by renowned scientists. By imposing to satisfy the set of universal constants G, c, κ, ħ and by taking into account the vacuum data, he proposes a new quantum expression of G which is still compatible with existing serious publications. It appears that time becomes the lapse of time necessary to transmit information from one elastic sheet of space to another. Time also becomes elastic. Thus, space becomes an elastic material, with a particle size of the order of the Planck scale, a new deformable ether, therefore different from the non-existent luminiferous ether. Finally, in the third part, in appendices, the author demonstrates the fundamentals of general relativity, cosmology and the theory of elasticity.

Book X Ray and Neutron Dynamical Diffraction

Download or read book X Ray and Neutron Dynamical Diffraction written by André Authier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects the proceedings of the 23rd International Course of Crystallography, entitled "X-ray and Neutron Dynamical Diffraction, Theory and Applications," which took place in the fascinating setting of Erice in Sicily, Italy. It was run as a NATO Advanced Studies Institute with A. Authier (France) and S. Lagomarsino (Italy) as codirectors, and L. Riva di Sanseverino and P. Spadon (Italy) as local organizers, R. Colella (USA) and B. K. Tanner (UK) being the two other members of the organizing committee. It was attended by about one hundred participants from twenty four different countries. Two basic theories may be used to describe the diffraction of radiation by crystalline matter. The first one, the so-called geometrical, or kinematical theory, is approximate and is applicable to small, highly imperfect crystals. It is used for the determination of crystal structures and describes the diffraction of powders and polycrystalline materials. The other one, the so-called dynamical theory, is applicable to perfect or nearly perfect crystals. For that reason, dynamical diffraction of X-rays and neutrons constitutes the theoretical basis of a great variety of applications such as: • the techniques used for the characterization of nearly perfect high technology materials, semiconductors, piezoelectric, electrooptic, ferroelectric, magnetic crystals, • the X-ray optical devices used in all modem applications of Synchrotron Radiation (EXAFS, High Resolution X-ray Diffractometry, magnetic and nuclear resonant scattering, topography, etc. ), and • X-ray and neutron interferometry.
