Book Etiopathy Or Way of Life

Download or read book Etiopathy Or Way of Life written by George Dutton and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 646 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Etiopathy, or Way of Life: Being an Exposition of Ontology, Physiology Therapeutics; A Religious Science Scientific Religion The human body is the most wonderful, the most useful, and the most interesting physical structure ever known to man. It is the earthly paradise of the soul through all successive generations of those who learn and keep the way of the tree of Life. To form the body after a divine model, to preserve it in health, strength, and beauty, and to use it as the "temple of the Living God," is the great privilege of every human being, considered as each must be, an essential unit and component part of the entire human race. Impressed with these great thoughts, and painfully aware that we have all been to some extent wrongly educated and hold erroneous opinions, among which we feel compelled to place many theories now held by different schools of medicine; and believing that the well known law of cause and effect governs the human body as it does all else in Nature, and that it may be utilized to establish and maintain a science of life and health that shall eventually harmonize all conflicting schools of medicine, and restore the race to the veritable garden of Eden, we humbly ask the attention and candid and earnest consideration of the reader. Book An Annotated Catalogue of the Edward C Atwater Collection of American Popular Medicine and Health Reform A L

Download or read book An Annotated Catalogue of the Edward C Atwater Collection of American Popular Medicine and Health Reform A L written by Christopher Hoolihan and published by University Rochester Press. This book was released on 2001 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a catalogue of the Edward C. Atwater Collection of rare books dealing with "popular medicine" in early America which is housed at the University of Rochester Medical School library. The books described in the catalogue were written by physicians and other professionals to provide information for the non-medical audience. The books taught human anatomy, hygiene, temperance and diet, how to maintain health, and how to cope with illness especially when no professional help was available. The books promoted a healthy lifestyle for the readers, giving guidance on everything from physical fitness and recreation to the special health needs of women. The collection consists of works dealing with reproduction [from birth control to delivering and caring for a baby], venereal disease, home-nursing, epidemics, and the need for public sex education. These books, covering areas largely ignored by the medical profession, made important contributions to the health of the American public, and the collection is a vital piece of medical history. The collector is Edward C. Atwater, Professor Emeritus of Medicine and the History of Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical School. Christopher Hoolihan is History of Medicine Librarian at the University of Rochester Medical School's Edward G. Miner LIbrary.

Book Manual for the Standard for Clinicians Interview in Psychiatry SCIP

Download or read book Manual for the Standard for Clinicians Interview in Psychiatry SCIP written by Ahmed Sayed Aboraya and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-07-15 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The SCIP manual will introduce a new assessment tool designed to be compatible with 21st century advances in measurement-base care (MBC) and personalized medicine in psychiatry (PMP). The SCIP includes 18 clinician-administered and 15 self-administered reliable and validated scales covering most adult symptom domains: anxiety, obsessions, compulsions, posttraumatic stress, depression, mania, delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thoughts, aggression, negative symptoms, alcohol use, drug use, attention deficit/hyperactivity, and eating disorders. Mental health professionals (psychiatrists, psychiatry residents, psychologists, therapists, clinical social workers, counselors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, professors, students, and mental health researchers) are the primary audience of the manual. These professionals will be able to implement SCIP scales in their practice and use the SCIP psychopathology glossary as part of the emerging science of personalized medicine psychiatry (PMP). Existing books on measures and rating scales, such as the two books above, describe different scales developed by different authors at different periods. Each scale has its own rating guidelines and training requirements, which must be followed by clinicians in order to use the scales. This demands a considerable amount of time for clinicians and can be a barrier to using the scales in practice. Even within the same psychopathology domain, many published measurement scales exist. For instance, the book published by Waters and Stephane includes 120 scales for psychosis. Among the 120 scales for psychosis, which scale(s) should the clinician choose? Our proposed manual will remove these barriers by creating simple and universal principles which allow readers to use the 33 reliable and validated SCIP scales with most adult psychiatric disorders. There will be 15 videotaped interviews available online for readers who buy the book. Readers are expected to watch the interviews in conjunction with reading the manual.

Book Alternative Medicines

Download or read book Alternative Medicines written by Stefano Maddalena and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2005 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past few decades, alternative medicines have gained increasing importance in Western countries. This book is the first extensive, comparative and interdisciplinary study on the subject. The recent evolution of these alternative techniques is considered from the perspective of their integration into Western medical systems. The first part of the research is an overview of the current position of alternative medicines in some Western countries. Sociological elements as well as various research and educational issues are presented. The study then focuses on the licensing to practise alternative medicine and the coverage of alternative medicines. The second part of the study analyses and compares the most important regulatory mechanisms. Proposals are also made for the regulation of alternative medicines. The last chapter deals with the concept of an integrated system of medicine. The main components of the system are presented and compared to current trends and a theoretical model. Moreover, the book addresses the questions: What is an integrated system of medicine? Are we moving towards such a system? If so, what are the reasons and is such a shift reasonable and feasible?
