Download or read book Kant s Lectures Kants Vorlesungen written by Bernd Dörflinger and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-07-31 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although they were not written by Kant himself, the transcripts of his lectures constitute an important source for philosophical research today. Some of the contributions presented in this volume discuss the authenticity and significance of these transcripts, for example the status of Kant's lectures on logic and anthropology, while others shed light on the historical formation of specific writings, for instance the texts on the philosophy of religion. The contributions provide new insights into Kant's philosophy, that, if looking at Kant's published writings alone, we would not be able to gain. In a number of cases, a critical analysis of Kant's lectures gives us a better understanding of his published works. Thus his lectures on metaphysics shed new light on his Critique of Pure Reason, while the lecture on natural law is a valuable source for the understanding of his published legal writings.
Download or read book Understanding Institutionalized Education written by Roland Reichenbach and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2020-07-24 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, the school as an institution is faced with a number of controversial expectations on behalf of society and politics in view of its significance, effectivity, and instrumentality. Frequently applied tests and longitudinal studies should measure the performance level of our educational system constantly, but there is still an ongoing disagreement in terms of of the organisation of schools and curricula. This book opposes the monopolizing of the school, arguing that it is irrelevant or guided by particular interests and recent tendencies that solely and primarily define the significance of school by its effectivity. The text defends the school as a place that should enable young people to become sociable and as a place of self-education. In doing so, it differentiates between pedagogical and extra-pedagogical tasks of schools, emphasises the importance of teachers as persons, and stresses the contributions of curricula and education that are fundamental for social cohesion, which are often not acknowledged in pedagogical theory. The book’s plea addresses student teachers and teachers of all subjects and school levels, as well as everybody that is, directly or indirectly, affected by the transformation processes regarding this institution and who wants to engage in a pointedly critical discussion on current reforms.

Download or read book Bioethics Care and Gender written by Hartmut Remmers and published by V&R unipress GmbH. This book was released on 2010 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: English summary: The German development of bioethial discourse in medicine and nursing has reached a highly differentiated stage. The following articles are based on papers presented on an international conference at the University of Osnabruck. Bioethical questions and discussions are brought forward to widen the horizen towards perspectives and research designs that have long been underrepresented. The aim is an intensive interdisciplinarary discussion between different paradigms and specific positions, including standpoints of gender. Despite their potential for sensitisation, there have only been a few works trying to frame ethical issues within an Ethics of Care. In this book the relevance of language, perception and context are highlighted by discussing issues of end-of-life care, prenatal diagnosis, allocation problems as well as ethical conflicts in clinical practice.
Download or read book Kant s Conception of Moral Character written by G. Felicitas Munzel and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently fashionable among critics of enlightenment thought is the charge that Kant's ethics fails to provide an adequate account of character and its formation in moral and political life. G. Felicitas Munzel challenges this reading of Kant's thought, claiming not only that Kant has a very rich notion of moral character, but also that it is a conception of systematic importance for his thought, linking the formal moral with the critical, aesthetic, anthropological, and biological aspects of his philosophy. The first book to focus on character formation in Kant's moral philosophy, it builds on important recent work on Kant's aesthetics and anthropology, and brings these to bear on moral issues. Munzel traces Kant's multifaceted definition of character through the broad range of his writings, and then explores the structure of character, its actual exercise in the world, and its cultivation. An outstanding work of original textual analysis and interpretation, Kant's Conception of Moral Character is a major contribution to Kant studies and moral philosophy in general.
Download or read book Organisations and Humanisation written by Myrte van de Klundert and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-23 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The term humanisation was introduced in humanistic studies to develop a humanist way of thinking about organisations and human relations. It stems from a need to think about questions of justice and living a good life in practice but not from some absolute or abstract point of view. As it is often framed, humanisation is concerned with working towards a more human type of organisation. Organisation studies are concerned with understanding organisations and their role in our society, and developing perspectives and methods to improve them, while humanisation theories, on the other hand, do not represent a managerial blueprint as they tend to incorporate notions of situated knowledge, sense-making and relational value, drawing our attention to specific processes rather than offering universal truths. Although Critical Management Studies counters mainstream managerialism, it still tends to produce the same kind of ‘truths’ that are supposed to apply to all organisations. Much of the existing management literature is related to control and offers strategies on how to do things but this is not about prescriptions, rather how to explore possibilities from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It offers managers as well as theoreticians of organisations the possibility to question their grounding principles. In the variety of contributions to this book the authors reflect on their understanding of what it is to be human and whether this can be found in the way that organisations are run. They consider the value of humanisation to understand and intervene in organisations and the challenges they face.

Download or read book Moral Collectives written by Stefan Joller and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-29 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether terrorist attacks, refugee or financial crises - the challenges of globalized modernity expose those areas that Durkheim described as anomic and whose processing still illustrates the central position of moral communication. There is some evidence to suggest that progressive functional differentiation does not erode morality, but actually promotes a remoralization of society through increasing communicative networking. Wherever grievances come to light and it is not foreseeable how they could be satisfactorily resolved in the modus operandi, morality provides a promising instrument which, in the form of moral collectives, is able to permeate everyday life and shape society. In this sense, the anthology is dedicated to a theoretical as well as empirical analysis of morality, which takes shape as a genuinely social quantity via moral collectives. This book is a translation of an original German edition. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation.
