Alexis Tsoukiàs (Paris), John Broome (Oxford), Ralph Keeney (Duke) e Paul Slovic (Oregon). Estes cientistas apresentaram quatro perspetivas diversas acerca do tema do ciclo: as da investigação operacional, da filosofia, da análise de decisões e da psicologia, respetivamente. Cada um dos artigos dos conferencistas convidados foi selecionado pelo seu autor como um dos que melhor representaria a perspetiva apresentada na sua palestra. O texto de Slovic descreve a importância que o afeto tem na determinação de juízos e decisões, defendendo que a confiança depositada nesses sentimentos pode ser caracterizada como uma Heurística Afetiva. O artigo de Tsoukiàs apresenta uma visão retrospetiva sobre a evolução da teoria da decisão para uma metodologia de ajuda à decisão, considerando o autor que todas as teorias da decisão partilham uma característica comum – a utilização de linguagens formais e abstratas e de um modelo de racionalidade, defendendo uma abordagem científica para a ajuda à decisão em problemas enfrentados por indivíduos e/ou organizações. O texto de Keeney sintetiza algumas das principais ideias que preconiza para intervir em situações de decisão, neste caso em situações de definição de políticas públicas, advogando e ilustrando a importância de basear a intervenção na eliciação dos valores do público e na sua modelação através de uma função de utilidade multiatributo. O texto de Broome pretende ilustrar os moldes em que o problema de tomada de decisões pode aparecer no âmbito da Filosofia, debruçando-se sobre um tema de longo debate entre filósofos: pode um raciocínio culminar numa ação ou apenas pode culminar numa crença? Cada um destes artigos, traduzido para a língua portuguesa, é acompanhado por um comentário de um autor português, respetivamente: Armando Mónica de Oliveira, Manuel Matos, João Clímaco e António Manuel Martins. O livro inclui ainda um capítulo introdutório que oferece uma breve panorâmica das disciplinas que se entrecruzam na palavra Decisão.

By putting diverse entities that bring different perspectives, competencies, practices, and cultures, to work together, collaborative networks develop the right environment for the emergence of new ideas and more efficient, yet practical, solutions. This aspect is particularly important for small and medium enterprises which typically lack critical mass and can greatly benefit from participation in co-innovation networks. However, larger organizations also benefit from the challenges and the diversity found in collaborative ecosystems. In terms of research, in addition to the trend identified in previous years toward a sounder consolidation of the theoretical foundation in this discipline, there is now a direction of developments more focused on modeling and reasoning about new c- laboration patterns and their contribution to value creation. “Soft issues,” including social capital, cultural aspects, ethics and value systems, trust, emotions, behavior, etc. continue to deserve particular attention in terms of modeling and reasoning. Exploi- tion of new application domains such as health care, education, and active aging for retired professionals also help identify new research challenges, both in terms of m- eling and ICT support development.

Book excerpt: This book adopts the proposition that it is possible to the customs to be sources of contractual obligations. To support that premise, it was necessary to seek jurisprudential (arbitration and litigation) and comparative basis. Even more, due to contract law internationalization, customary international sources should be subject of domestic treatment, as they provide contractual obligations as well as they work as contractual interpretation tool. However, one can´t neglect the need to control the customary content. In detailed terms, then, we can say that the role reserved for the custom as contractual law rules source has always been residual in Brazilian law. Accompanying the modern European experience, doctrine and Brazilian legislation emphasize the secondary, when not merely interpretive, role of the contractual custom. In turn, Brazilian case law wasn´t able to give general treatment to contractual custom. Moreover, the process of reducing distances and cultural, social and economic approximation, usually called globalization, influenced the contracts through the incorporation of a number of solutions brought from the international trade practice. Although they might be justified by the age-old principle of freedom, somehow these international "uses" insinuate themselves into Brazil to the point of requiring that the Brazilian Courts themselves to give them treatment and shelter. On one side, if you deny the existence of a creative normative role in contractual custom by another, albeit indirect, is recognized not only their existence but the possibility of foreign origin. This paradoxical treatment reflects, to some extent, another consequence: the Brazilian contract law is in the process of internationalization. Here, then, a new confrontation is announced: a broad creative freedom (a tributary of the so-called Lex mercatoria) and the foreign act incorporation control (public policy). Unlike before, however, no simplistic answer would be feasible, particularly because of the complexity of contemporary and regulatory Brazilian contract law.

O seminário aconteceu entre 13 e 14 de dezembro de 2021, de maneira on-line, e foi precedido por um conjunto de oito webinars, com 21 convidados que apresentaram resultados de pesquisa nas áreas de legislação e regulação, inovação, desinformação, robótica social, implicações sociais da inteligência artificial, segurança pública, educação, viés algorítmico e (des)igualdade. A visibilidade do seminário alcançou 63 países e teve mais de 5.445 visualizações no conteúdo publicado em seu website.
