Book Algorithms from THE BOOK

Download or read book Algorithms from THE BOOK written by Kenneth Lange and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Algorithms are a dominant force in modern culture, and every indication is that they will become more pervasive, not less. The best algorithms are undergirded by beautiful mathematics. This text cuts across discipline boundaries to highlight some of the most famous and successful algorithms. Readers are exposed to the principles behind these examples and guided in assembling complex algorithms from simpler building blocks. Written in clear, instructive language within the constraints of mathematical rigor, Algorithms from THE BOOK includes a large number of classroom-tested exercises at the end of each chapter. The appendices cover background material often omitted from undergraduate courses. Most of the algorithm descriptions are accompanied by Julia code, an ideal language for scientific computing. This code is immediately available for experimentation. Algorithms from THE BOOK is aimed at first-year graduate and advanced undergraduate students. It will also serve as a convenient reference for professionals throughout the mathematical sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and the quantitative sectors of the biological and social sciences.

Book Kinematic Modeling Identification and Control of Robotic Manipulators

Download or read book Kinematic Modeling Identification and Control of Robotic Manipulators written by Henry W. Stone and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this dissertation is to advance the state-of-the-art in the kinematic modeling, identification, and control of robotic manipulators with rigid links in an effort to improve robot kinematic performance. The positioning accuracy of commercially-available industrial robotic manipulators depends upon a kinematic model which describes the robot geometry in a parametric form. Manufacturing error in the machining and assembly of manipulators lead to discrepancies between the design parameters and the physical structure. Improving the kinematic perfor mance thus requires the identification of the actual kinematic parameters of each individual robot. The identified kinematic parameters are referred to as the arm signature. Existing robot kinematic models, such as the Denavit-Hartenberg model, are not directly applicable to kinematic parameter identification. In this dissertation we introduce a new kinematic model, called the 5-Model, which is applicable to kinematic parameter identification, and use it as the foundation for our development of a general technique for identifying the kinematic parameters of any robot with rigid links.

Book Probability Statistics and Queueing Theory

Download or read book Probability Statistics and Queueing Theory written by Arnold O. Allen and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 765 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a textbook on applied probability and statistics with computer science applications for students at the upper undergraduate level. The book has also been successfully used for courses in queueing theory for operations research students. This second edition includes a new chapter on regression as well as more than twice as many exercises at the end of each chapter. While the emphasis is the same as in the first edition, this new book makes more extensive use of available personal computer software, such as Minitab and Mathematica.

Book Logic Mathematics and Computer Science

Download or read book Logic Mathematics and Computer Science written by Yves Nievergelt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-10-13 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text for the first or second year undergraduate in mathematics, logic, computer science, or social sciences, introduces the reader to logic, proofs, sets, and number theory. It also serves as an excellent independent study reference and resource for instructors. Adapted from Foundations of Logic and Mathematics: Applications to Science and Cryptography © 2002 Birkhӓuser, this second edition provides a modern introduction to the foundations of logic, mathematics, and computers science, developing the theory that demonstrates construction of all mathematics and theoretical computer science from logic and set theory. The focuses is on foundations, with specific statements of all the associated axioms and rules of logic and set theory, and provides complete details and derivations of formal proofs. Copious references to literature that document historical development is also provided. Answers are found to many questions that usually remain unanswered: Why is the truth table for logical implication so unintuitive? Why are there no recipes to design proofs? Where do these numerous mathematical rules come from? What issues in logic, mathematics, and computer science still remain unresolved? And the perennial question: In what ways are we going to use this material? Additionally, the selection of topics presented reflects many major accomplishments from the twentieth century and includes applications in game theory and Nash's equilibrium, Gale and Shapley's match making algorithms, Arrow's Impossibility Theorem in voting, to name a few. From the reviews of the first edition: "...All the results are proved in full detail from first principles...remarkably, the arithmetic laws on the rational numbers are proved, step after step, starting from the very definitions!...This is a valuable reference text and a useful companion for anybody wondering how basic mathematical concepts can be rigorously developed within set theory." —MATHEMATICAL REVIEWS "Rigorous and modern in its theoretical aspect, attractive as a detective novel in its applied aspects, this paper book deserves the attention of both beginners and advanced students in mathematics, logic and computer sciences as well as in social sciences." —Zentralblatt MATH
