Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1886, “Esoteric Christianity and Mental Therapeutics” is a fascinating treatise on the power of the mind to heal and connections to this idea found in Christianity and the Bible. Warren Felt Evans (1817-1889) was an American author famous for his writings related to the New Thought movement, a movement originating from 19th century United States based upon the ideas that God exists everywhere, sickness originates in the mind, and that thinking “correctly” has the ability to heal. He became a proponent of the movement during 1863 as a result of seeking healing from Phineas P. Quimby, the movement's founder. Contents include: “The Receptive Side of Human Nature, and the True Method of Acquiring Spiritual Knowledge”, “Trust as a Saving or Healing Power”, “What is the Fundamental Idea of Diseases? And What is it to heal Disease in Ourselves or Others?”, “The Unchanging I AM in us, or the Divine and True Idea of Man”, “Is Disease a Reality or an Illusion?”, etc. Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with an essay by William Al-Sharif.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An eye-opening introduction to the complex world of esoteric Christianity—perfect for the general reader This guide to mystical and esoteric Christianity speaks from a nonsectarian point of view, unearthing insights from the whole of the Christian tradition, orthodox and heretical, famous and obscure. The esoteric tradition has traditionally searched for meanings that would yield a deeper inner knowledge of the divine. While traditional Christianity draws a timeline from Adam's Fall to the Day of Judgment, the esoteric often sees time as folding in on itself, bringing every point to the here and now. While the Church fought bitterly over dogma, the esoteric borrowed freely from other traditions—Kabbalah, astrology, and alchemy—in their search for metaphors of inner truth. Rather than basing his book around exponents of esoteric doctrine, scholar Richard Smoley concentrates on the questions that are of interest to every searching Christian. How can one attain direct spiritual experience? What does "the Fall" really tell us about coming to terms with the world we live in? Can we find salvation in everyday life? How can we ascend, spiritually, through the various levels of existence? What was Christ's true message to humankind? From the Gospel of Thomas to A Course in Miracles, from the Jesus Prayer to alchemy and Tarot, from Origen to Dante to Jung, Richard Smoley sheds the light of an alternative Christianity on these issues and more.

This book was released on 2017-11-24 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Esoteric Christianity or the Lesser Mysteries The object of this book is to suggest cer tain lines of thought as to the deep truths underlying Christianity, truths generally overlooked, and only too often denied. The generous wish to Share with all what is precious, to spread broadcast priceless truths, to shut out none from the. Illumina tion of true knowledge, has resulted in a zeal without discretion that has vulgarised Christianity, and has presented its teachings in a form that often repels the heart and alienates the intellect. The command to preach the Gospel to every creature though admittedly of doubtful authenticity - has been interpreted as forbidding the teaching of the Gnosis to a few, and has apparently erased the less popular saying. Book excerpt: Many, perhaps most, who see the title of this book will at once traverse it, and will deny that there is anything valuable which can be rightly described as "Esoteric Christianity." There is a wide-spread, and withal a popular, idea that there is no such thing as an occult teaching in connection with Christianity, and that "The Mysteries," whether Lesser or Greater, were a purely Pagan institution. The very name of "The Mysteries of Jesus," so familiar in the ears of the Christians of the first centuries, would come with a shock of surprise on those of their modern successors, and, if spoken as denoting a special and definite institution in the Early Church, would cause a smile of incredulity. It has actually been made a matter of boast that Christianity has no secrets, that whatever it has to say it says to all, and whatever it has to teach it teaches to all. Its truths are supposed to be so simple, that "a way-faring man, though a fool, may not err therein," and the "simple Gospel" has become a stock phrase.

The most highly evolved are far above the least evolved, both in intelligence and character; the capacity alike to understand and to act varies at every stage. It is, therefore, useless to give to all the same religious teaching; that which would help the intellectual man would be entirely unintelligible to the stupid, while that which would throw the saint into ecstasy would leave the criminal untouched. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1886 edition. Excerpt: ... CHAPTER VIII. THE BREATH OF GOD IN MAN, OR THE TRUE ELIXIR OF LIFE. The "Unknown," the Divine Esse, or Absolute Being, has let himself down from his inscrutable height which cannot be scaled by finite thought, by three degrees of manifestation, and each successive stage of the revelation of himself is in itself, and taken by itself, a triad of principles, or a trinity in unity. The third is the Universal Life, a Diviue Principle or primordial substance (not in a material, but in a metaphysical sense). This is God as the intelligent Life of the world, and is called Adonai, or Lord. It may be viewed in thought, if you choose, as a person, for in the Oriental mind everything is personified. It is identical with the Holy Spirit of the New Testament. It is the ultimate expression of the Christ or Manifested God. In the Kabala, the divine name which corresponds to the tenth Sephira, or emanative principle, and which represents the whole realm of actuality (or matter) is Adonai, who is the everywhere present and all-intelligent life-force in nature. In the grand economy of existence, or the manifestation of being, it is the function of this demiurgic, or world-building intellect, to translate pre-existing subjective ideas into actuality, or objective forms and material representations. This will render clear all that we may say hereafter. There are certain plants which live wholly from the air, and all plants do so more or less, as a geranium placed under the exhausted receiver of an air-pump will die. Every vital process is instantly suspended. Now air is the correspondent of the Holy Spirit. Wind, which is air in motion, or as force, is the representation of Spirit in action. Hence Jesus says, "The Spirit bloweth (or breatheth) where it...

Book The Rosicrucian Mysteries Esprios Classics

Download or read book The Rosicrucian Mysteries Esprios Classics written by Max Heindel and published by Blurb. This book was released on 2019-11-18 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rosicrucianism is a spiritual and cultural movement which arose in Europe in the early 17th century after the publication of several texts which purported to announce the existence of a hitherto unknown esoteric order to the world and made seeking its knowledge attractive to many. The mysterious doctrine of the order is "built on esoteric truths of the ancient past", which "concealed from the average man, provide insight into nature, the physical universe, and the spiritual realm." The manifestos do not elaborate extensively on the matter, but clearly combine references to Kabbalah, Hermeticism, alchemy, and mystical Christianity.
