Chad is one of thos LDSwriters whose books will be familiar to everyone one of these days. He just keeps getting better. In this new volume, Escape to Zion, the third volume in the Emma trilogy, Emma Dalton ventures into the future. Book Zechariah s Hope Paperback

Download or read book Zechariah s Hope Paperback written by David C Coldwell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Zechariah may be one of the least read books in the Bible. For the past twenty years I have taught the Bible to pastors in Asian countries where life is difficult for them. My pattern was to begin each day with a devotional that would apply specific Bible lessons to their lives. When I started giving devotional thoughts from Zechariah, I learned that the Asian pastors had a keen interest in that prophet. They would often ask questions or share their thoughts about Zechariah long after our devotional had ended. I believe that a daily time with the Lord is essential for believers who desire to serve Him in this knotty world. According to Proverbs, life is a series of choices between which roads we will travel. We decide daily to either take the path of the righteous or the way of the wicked. We choose regularly to either walk on the path of the wise person or stroll along the way of the fool.

Book excerpt: Seven hundred and fifty Jewish refugees fled Nazi Germany and founded the agricultural settlement of Sosúa in the Dominican Republic, then ruled by one of Latin America’s most repressive dictators, General Rafael Trujillo. In Tropical Zion, Allen Wells, a distinguished historian and the son of a Sosúa settler, tells the compelling story of General Trujillo, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and those fortunate pioneers who founded a successful employee-owned dairy cooperative on the north shore of the island. Why did a dictator admit these desperate refugees when so few nations would accept those fleeing fascism? Eager to mollify international critics after his army had massacred 15,000 unarmed Haitians, Trujillo sent representatives to Évian, France, in July, 1938 for a conference on refugees from Nazism. Proposed by FDR to deflect criticism from his administration’s restrictive immigration policies, the Évian Conference proved an abject failure. The Dominican Republic was the only nation that agreed to open its doors. Obsessed with stemming the tide of Haitian migration across his nation’s border, the opportunistic Trujillo sought to “whiten” the Dominican populace, welcoming Jewish refugees who were themselves subject to racist scorn in Europe. The Roosevelt administration sanctioned the Sosúa colony. Since the United States did not accept Jewish refugees in significant numbers, it encouraged Latin America to do so. That prodding, paired with FDR’s overriding preoccupation with fighting fascism, strengthened U.S. relations with Latin American dictatorships for decades to come. Meanwhile, as Jewish organizations worked to get Jews out of Europe, discussions about the fate of worldwide Jewry exposed fault lines between Zionists and Non-Zionists. Throughout his discussion of these broad dynamics, Wells weaves vivid narratives about the founding of Sosúa, the original settlers and their families, and the life of the unconventional beach-front colony.

Book excerpt: The Israelite prophets as historical persons, as literary characters and as anonymous artists. Whereas modern methods of literary analysis have brought the artistic qualities of the books of the Prophets increasingly into focus during the past century, various modes of deconstruction have made the historical prophets themselves an ever more elusive phenomenon. Passages in the Old Testament describing their work and experiences are not read as biography anymore, but as literary fiction intended to picture the prophets as heroes of faith. The real ‘prophets’ were the anonymous artists who were responsible for the final editing of the legacy of the historical prophets and who often used the authority of their predecessors to promulgate their own theological views. This volume brings together studies about this theme by members of the British and Dutch societies for Old Testament study. Attempts to recover some of the biographical data and authentic experiences of the prophets alternate with penetrating analyses of the theological depth and stylistic virtuosity of the prophetic books. The volume will be particularly useful to all those interested in the interpretation of the prophetic books of the Old Testament.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through a study of Biblical teachings, commentaries, and ecclesiastical histories, you will learn exactly what Apocalyptic events are coming on the earth, when they are coming, why God is bringing such judgments, who will be most affected, and what escape has been provided by God. Learn about the 7000 year dateline of mortal man. The first 2000 years was the Patriarchal Age (Adam to Abraham). Next, was the 2000 year Time of Israel. The next 2000 years was the Time of Gentiles. The last 1000 years will see Jesus return to the house of Israel, gather them from heaven and earth, and establish them as His people for the thousand year Sabbath of Creation and eternity. Heaven will be here on earth; with a New Jerusalem in North America and with Jerusalem as the cities of God and Jesus. The Bible teaches all of the Apocalyptic events will occur by 2007. Man cannot begin to imagine the horror of these events. They will make the Great Flood seem like a brief shower. Only a third of the house of Israel is to survive. Gentiles will be, "as though they had not been." The world is to be scourged with asteroid/comet impacts, fire, hail, pestilence, famine, and a decease that will end all nations. Death will be more common than life. Only a relatively few will survive. Here is the untold story of why God stopped speaking to man in 99 AD; and when He was to speak again. The Bible tells how a beast (kingdom) destroyed the Church of Christ, divine authority, and finally every saint of God on the earth. Learn how Constantine, in 325 AD, amalgamated pagan Rome with Christianity; and created this beast of Revelations that was to rule supreme over the souls of man for 1260 years. Discover how the Bible provides the true story of this beast, the image of the beast, the mark of the beast, and antiChrist. There was to be a brief restoration of divine authority in the last days; and then only a very small remnant would remain to offer escape. When Jesus returns, He is to destroy those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel. This book reveals the true character, attributes, and will of God. Here is the true identity of Jesus Christ. Learn of the original gospel of Christ. The relationship between God and His people is traced from Adam to the end of mortal man. Most important, here is the only Biblical escape from Armageddon; and path to eternal life.
