Book Wireless Communications Systems and Networks

Download or read book Wireless Communications Systems and Networks written by Mohsen Guizani and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 722 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the early 1990s, the wireless communications field has witnessed explosive growth. The wide range of applications and existing new technologies nowadays stimulated this enormous growth and encouraged wireless applications. The new wireless networks will support heterogeneous traffic, consisting of voice, video, and data (multimedia). This necessitated looking at new wireless generation technologies and enhance its capabilities. This includes new standards, new levels of Quality of Service (QoS), new sets of protocols and architectures, noise reduction, power control, performance enhancement, link and mobility management, nomadic and wireless networks security, and ad-hoc architectures. Many of these topics are covered in this textbook. The aim of this book is research and development in the area of broadband wireless communications and sensor networks. It is intended for researchers that need to learn more and do research on these topics. But, it is assumed that the reader has some background about wireless communications and networking. In addition to background in each of the chapters, an in-depth analysis is presented to help our readers gain more R&D insights in any of these areas. The book is comprised of 22 chapters, written by a group of well-known experts in their respective fields. Many of them have great industrial experience mixed with proper academic background.

Book The Impact of Processing Techniques on Communications

Download or read book The Impact of Processing Techniques on Communications written by J.K. Skwirzynski and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the full proceedings of the Fourth Advanced Study Institute organised by myself and my colleagues in . * the field of Communication Theory and Allied Subjects. In the first Institute we associated the subject of signal processing in communication with that in control engineering. Then we concentrated on noise and random phenomena by bringing in as well the subject of stochastic calculus. The third time our subject was multi-user communication and associated with it, the important problem of assessing algorithmic complexity. This time we are concerned with the vast increase of computational power that is now available in communication systems processors and controllers. This forces a mathematical, algorithmic and structural approach to the solution of computational requirements and design problems, in contrast to previous heuristic and intuitive methods. We are also concerned with the interactions and trade-offs between the structure, speed, and complexity of a process, and between software and hardware implementations. At the previous Advanced Study Institute in this series, on Multi-User Communications, there was a session on computational complexity, applied particularly to network routing problems. It was the aim of this Institute to expand this topic and to link it with information theory, random processes, pattern analysis, and implementation aspects of communication processors. The first part of these proceedings concentrates on pattern and structure in communications processing. In organising this session I was greatly helped and guided by Professor P. G. Farrell and Professor J. L. Massey.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Next Generation Wireless Systems and Networks offers an expert view of cutting edge Beyond 3rd Generation (B3G) wireless applications. This self-contained reference combines the basics of wireless communications, such as 3G wireless standards, spread spectrum and CDMA systems, with a more advanced level research-oriented approach to B3G communications, eliminating the need to refer to other material. This book will provide readers with the most up-to-date technological developments in wireless communication systems/networks and introduces the major 3G standards, such as W-CDMA, CDMA2000 and TD-SCDMA. It also includes a focus on cognitive radio technology and 3GPP E-UTRA technology; areas which have not been well covered elsewhere. Covers many hot topics in the area of next generation wireless from the authors’ own research, including: Bluetooth, all-IP wireless networking, power-efficient and bandwidth-efficient air-link technologies, and multi-user signal processing in B3G wireless Clear, step-by-step progression throughout the book will provide the reader with a thorough grounding in the basic topics before moving on to more advanced material Addresses various important topics on wireless communication systems and networks that have emerged only very recently, such as Super-3G technology, 4G wireless, UWB, OFDMA and MIMO Includes a wealth of explanatory tables and illustrations This essential reference will prove invaluable to senior undergraduate and postgraduate students, academics and researchers. It will also be of interest to telecommunications engineers wishing to further their knowledge in this field.

Book Wireless Communications

Download or read book Wireless Communications written by Jack M. Holtzman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past several years have been exciting for wireless communications. The public appetite for new services and equipment continues to grow. The Second Generation systems that have absorbed our attention during recent years will soon be commercial realities. In addition to these standard systems, we see an explosion of technical alternatives for meeting the demand for wireless communications. The debates about competing solutions to the same problem are a sign of the scientific and technical immaturity of our field. Here we have an application in search of technology rather than the reverse. This is a rare event in the information business. Happily, there is a growing awareness that we can act now to prevent the technology shortage from becoming more acute at the end of this decade. By then, market size and user expectations will surpass the capabilities of today's emerging systems. Third Generation Wireless Information Networks will place even greater burdens on technology than their ancestors. To discuss these issues, Rutgers University WINLAB plays host to a series of Workshops on Third Generation Wireless Information Networks. The first one, in 1989, had the flavor of a gathering of committed enthusiasts of an interesting niche of telephony. Presentations and discussions centered on the problems of existing cellular systems and technical alternatives to alleviating them. Although the more distant future was the announced theme of the Workshop, it drew only a fraction of our attention.
